[UNABLE TO REPRODUCE] HARM TOO no target lock
Xxx replied to Xxx's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
If memory serves, the EW (RWR) should be able to be made SOI (Sensor of Interest) and then the emitter selected via a movable cursor. In other words, the HARM can be designated from the EW display. This position is the weapons primary INS location before launch. I can't fire a HARM in TOO as yet, but will keep fiddling with button assignments.:joystick: There needs to be an option to select missile loft or aircraft loft mode, as this affects launch range. Speaking of range, there should also be an *in range" cue on the HUD, with a numerical range to target. With missile loft mode it should enter a "loiter" phase if emitter is lost and if the emitter remains silent, the weapon will attack the last known position in it's INS. Anyone out there flown the VRS Superbug?:music_whistling: -
Selecting TOO mode I have no way to select the target. Isn't there supposed to be a steering target designator on the HARM DDI? Once the HARM DDI is made SPI, how do you select the target? E.g I have SA-6 and SA-8 on the RWR and the HARM DDI, but can not select the target. There is no target id on the HUD, just a square. The HARM will not fire in the TOO mode. SP is ok. Latest DCS non beta in use. Could someone make a training scenario. Also a training mission for IFF. Thanks.

I would like to be able to place some aircraft on the deck of the carriers. Empty decks look unrealistic. I realise someone may have a mod for this, but surely there is a way to place static aircraft. Using the current "assign unit" just dumps the aircraft in the middle of the flight deck. I read somewhere that some one has a mod for a rescue helo in formation with the carrier. Again can this be a DCS feature please! Cheers.

Dear Heatblur, please can you do the Tornado? With your expertise of an AI Weapons Systems Officer (RIO) in the Tomcat, I can see a wonderful Tonka simulation in view. Just model the 233 dispenser for airfield destruction and a terrain following mode! You already do the Mjolnir, which is not far removed from the JP 233...:music_whistling: This will give us Brits, Germans and Italians a big grin. :D Best regards.

I hope the Mig 21 gets a graphic update. I noticed some strange smearing artifacts from wingmen, at a distance. The graphic model must be quite old by now. I have been with DCS since the early days and would love to see the Mig 21and Black Shark brought up to the latest standards as seen in the Hornet and Mirage.

Interestingly, in the Red Flag Campaign by Baltic Dragon, the Gazelles firing Mistrals chop you and your entire flight, if you go at them with Magic's and cannon!:music_whistling: You can't get a decent lock with your Magic's before the whirly birds kill your entire flight. The only way I could progress was to let the Hogs do the killing with their Sidewinders. BD knows about the problem and cleverly built a way for the Hogs to come to the rescue. It's a very entertaining mission, your pride being battered thinking that a bunch of Whirly Birds can kill your battle hardened fighters!:megalol: Cheers.

That's great news!:D Snce flying Baltic Dragon's Red Flag (twice) and the Mirage campaign, this is my "go to" aircraft in DCS. Its such a Jem to fly. Makes me wonder what the Rafael would be like? :smilewink: If the Magic's had a bit more performance....?:music_whistling:. But I guess we can't hang a 9x on those pylons? Cheers.
-
Yes you can. The campaign that comes with the Mirage is not locked like the Red Flag. I am trying various missions with different aircraft. The Hornet though, in the release DCS, has some problems with the GBU's. But that's for ED to sort out! The laser code is one six eight eight not one six six eight as given in the radio comms. I prefer CTLD mod for JTAC. If you add CTLD things are very much quicker! Cheers.
-
Yes, since the last update (release DCS version) the pilot patches have gone away? We are just wearing plain flying suits! Perhaps they gave them away to the F-14 pilots...:music_whistling:
-
Is this only in the beta DCS or has it gone into the release version? This interrogation method seems a bit long winded, but I suppose it's true to the real Hornet?:( In the Mirage 2000 Charlie, we can interrogate all RWS contacts at one go with a single keypress. If the contacts have "nails on" ( reference to the similarity with ladies fingernails) then they are returning friendly IFF. The IFF code can also be entered for our own identity. Regards.

I have been using the CTLD JTAC mod with great success on moving targets. In my home made missions I don't use the standard JTAC anymore. I find it's buggy. It's also very slow, due to all the radio too and frowing! By the time your up to "spot" the moving vehicle target has either gone out of range or moved behind cover! CTLD is autonomous and fast. Give ctld a try, there are a few You Tube video tutorials you can search. Once you have added the lines a few times into the editor, it's straightforward. With ctld the JTAC will digitally tell you when the lased target is destroyed and give you his next target, together with lat/long coords as well. You can specify the type of target he will laze. For example "armour", ""AAA" or "All". If you give JTAC a good location along an eneny route, he will keep informing you of all targeted vehicles passing his position. All this is done "quietly" by on screen info, so it doesn't interfere with other comms!

Sorry to say, but I can not complete mission 8 Elint. I can not see the enemy troop positions without "cheating" and pausing the game! Even when paused I can not see the enemy troops. I see a truck stationary, but no troops? Asking Cotton flight to engage them does not work, Cotton says they are engaging but then fly away from the area? If they would engage, then I could see a way to complete this mission. Asking for help with the approaching Mi-8 doesn't seem to work either. Sending the rescue helo in always ends in it being shot at by the well hidden troops. I realise the troops are "special forces" but they are too well hidden for my screen....LOL If the troops could be firing some tracer at our downed pilot, then I may be able to pick them out. As it is, asking a fast jet pilot to see these troops has beaten me! The troops are just a couple of pixels against a lot of tree clutter, shadows and buildings. This could be my lack of eyesight, but I think perhaps the requests for assistance may be broken? Thanks. EDIT. Please disregard the comments about Cotton assistance being broken! It was my impatience to do all the work myself! Best to be patient and let the mission run on a while. Eventually all assistance is given. I re armed with Belouga cluster bombs as well as the rockets!! The Mi-8 needs good old cannons though! The Magics don't lock too well on helos! Overall, this mission is great fun and I can see how much work was needed to get it to work....Notwithstanding A.I that can misbehave!!

I have completed Red Flag twice and then started this Campaign, so I am doing it the wrong way around! Needless to say this campaign is also brilliant! My old favourite aircraft used to be the Hog, but now all I fly is the "Charlie". Thanks again BD..:) Only the last mission #13 left for this run. But the nice thing about these campaigns is that you can alter the parameters yourself. Even substitute airframes for a greater or lesser challenge!:smilewink: I love flying the Charle especially in Baltics campaigns. So I added a few things to the final mission, for my own pleasure! It's about Berger's rescue!
-
Yes, well said. I have completed this campaign for a second time and must say second time around I am a better Mirage pilot! Not to mention feeling that I actually fly for Arme de l'air! Re mission. 11, I think it highlights how difficult it is to get the Matra Magic's to lock a Gazelle. This may be quite accurate! Certainly the 9x is a more sensitive seeker and can be off boresighted! But we can't swap the Mirage c for a Hornet in the campaign. If you do a scenario mission with the Hornet and 9x the outcome is interesting! But I love the "Charle"! I wish BD would do another campaign for her! Regards. David

Attack armoured column with GBU12. Auto selected. JTAC lasing targets. All GBU's gone. Switch to Mk 20's. Switch from Auto to CCIP. HUD does not change from auto mode. Reset arm, does not work, CCIP not available to Rockeyes, the weapons system can not recognise the change of mode from Auto to CCIP. Its stuck in previous GBU12, Auto mode.
-
They surely should all be warned up and ready to fire at the same time. The GBU12 should not persist after a rearm with no GBU12. Has anyone noticed the Maverick will lock onto none armoured targets occasionally? I get locks on to trees and other objects sometimes when slewing the gates around. On another note, I'd like the Rockeyes to be a bit more effective against armor. At the moment, they look pretty but don't do much! Oh for a CBU97!:music_whistling:
-
The Rockeye on the Hornet with (supposedly) 247 Mk 118 Mod 1 bomblets, is not very effective against armour.. ? Any chance of the CBU 97? Or could the effectiveness of the Rockeye be looked at please? Cheers.
-
Previous sortie had 2 AGM 65F, 4 GBU12 and a Mk 20 centreline. After re arm, with 4 AGM 65F and a single Mk 20, GBU 12 still shown on DDI Stores page. Its as if the weapons system still sees GBU 12's. On the Hog you re initialise the system. I wonder if its not re initialising here?
-
Re arming with 4 AGM 65 F, can not select the missiles. Step doesn't work. Can not Uncage them. Previous sortie had 2 AGM 65F, 4 GBU12 and a Mk 20 centreline. After re arm, with 4 AGM 65F and a single Mk 20, GBU 12 still shown on DDI Stores page. DCS Full version 2.5.4.27430 Thanks

Tonka has just been taken off front line in UK. If you do a Tornado simulation then go for a GR4. If you include Stormshadow (as standoff weapon, that kills targets from GPS coordinates) Brimstone (similar to the Maverick E, self lazed or via JTAC) and full weapons officer simulation,( like the RIO in the Tomcat!), it will be a winner! Oh, then add terrain following radar...500 knots at 50'....not many SAM's are going to bother you. But of course it's all wishful thinking on my part! Cheers.
-
Thanks Grizzly. ED has definitely changed this! My old missions don't work as previously. The key is to set the Advanced WP "embark" at spawn point of the helo. Not at the pick up wp as before. Trouble is I get a DCS crash every time...? Auto crash log sent in. So it still doesn't work for me. The change has broken my missions.

My second Red Flag in the Charlie. Apart from a couple of missing approach calls and minor trigger glitches (not seen in the first Red Flag I flew back in October 2018, possibly due to DCS updates?) the overall experience was the same. A thoroughly immersive experience the second time around. It does DCS credit. It does the Mirage team credit. it does Baltic Dragon credit. It will test the pilots ability to fly the Charlie properly and earn your Red Flag "patch". That last mission departing for home, actually left me with a lump in my throat! It felt that real! Best regards David

#15 OK. Everything spot on . Got all 4 Gun Dish and both Gazelles. Score 60/100? Why only 60? Would have thought 100/100...!;) Take a peek at the attached photo! These Mirages were "dumped" on the way to parking F154..? Perhaps as a reminder of what could happen...LOL! Regards.
-
Thanks BD. Here's another quirky one. Mission 14. All OK as far as messages that defector is intending to land. ( Pass ok at 3500' AGL gear down etc.) However F-16 goes 20 NM South of runway and circles at 12000'.? He never lands! (Treachery!!) I stayed as long as I dared...Fuel low...Thought about shooting him down??But didn't! LOL! Anyway I RTB and landed. Got Mission Successful park up at F134. I shut down and saw score 100/70. That's with two kills AA. Also, (Minor thing) parking F134 is occupied with a fuel tanker and a Humvee! The approach call worked on this one. Regards David

Uncage AA Missile causes DCS to crash. I have sent an auto crash report in. Thanks
