  1. The grey slider will work well if you use it with a modifier. That way it will only activate when the modifier is held down and then stop sending signals when the modifier is released. For example I've used the LAAP disconnect switch at the button front of the Warthog stick as my modifier.
  2. It sounds like you're not meeting whatever the requirements are to proceed to the next step. We can check for sure if you attach a track of your flight. To save a track, run the training mission from the Mission Editor or Missions menu. You will have a Save Track button in the Debriefing screen.
  3. The training missions have been updated to work correctly with v.1.2.2, but have not been pushed through an update yet. You can get them and install manually from here: http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/250461/
  4. I think it's worth considering the flip side of setting a curve on your joystick axes, pitch in particular. Generally a curve will help you get better, more precise control around the neutral position. This is good for takeoff, formation flying, cruising, and other flights where you are not maneuvering heavily. But if you are dogfighting, your joystick will often be held well back of neutral. If you are flying with a curve, this means it will probably be in that part of the curve where inputs have much more amplitude and it takes only a little stick movement to cause a big control surface movement. Maybe this is not helping with the maneuvering difficulties at least some of our new pilots experience.
  5. The Ka-50 was originally envisioned as an new concept in combat helicopter tactics, where a flight of single-seat Ka-50s would operate as a "wolf pack" to attack targets as coordinated and designated by a dedicated command and control group leader, like Soviet fighter-interceptors. Hence the datalink capability. This is the concept that was being tested in Chechnya. But the entire concept was largely abandoned after the USSR collapsed as there wasn't enough financing or interest in the Russian military to continue pursuing it, so the single-seat Ka-50 has lost its tactical purpose. Production was re-started to finish the remaining Ka-50 airframes that had been already started for the initial serial production batch, but were frozen due to lack of financing. This batch was finished and the production cycle switched to the Ka-52.
  6. Had an idea to do a FM test, just to see what would happen. Entered a hover just over a building roof and kept the collective in place. Slowly moved sideways away from the roof and when the helicopter was past the roof, it descended rapidly as ground effect from the roof disappeared under the rotor. The helicopter entered a hover again low to the ground.
  7. I am not sure there will be a dedicated Warthog profile created, but in any case the real controls are pretty basic. The two most frequent buttons used are the trigger and radio PTT, both on the cyclic. Both of these should work at default I believe. You may have to setup your control axes, though.
  8. If you are finding that the instructor restarts talking when you are flying in the wrong direction, it sounds like you are not using the updated training missions as linked in the first post. Unfortunately there was a change in one of the heading triggers in the mission editor which broke about half of the training missions. This is fixed in the updated missions for v.1.2.2 in the link.
  9. I think the issue to understand first is more basic and one that may not be appreciated enough by many new sim pilots. The positions of the controls of any aircraft at any point in flight depend on the conditions of that moment - aircraft weight, airspeed, winds, payload, fuel load, etc. This is why there is trim control and why it is adjusted all the time during flight. Centered control position does not necessarily mean straight and level flight. In fact, it rarely does for most aircraft in general. It is the other way around - you set the controls to whatever position they need to be to maintain straight and level flight at that moment and then trim them to stay there.
  10. The missions should be working correctly. Hard to say what may be causing errors in your case without having a track file to check. You can save a track by running the mission from the Mission Editor or Mission menu. A Save Track button will appear on the debriefing screen.
  11. Yes, at this point it is planned for what will be v.1.2.4, though I'm not sure how informative that is for you. :)
  12. We don't have a gag order on our developers and some of them have an interest in browsing the forums and answering questions when time is available. These are just individual responses, not official news updates. We can't completely regulate what every team member says and ask them to cross post on the other language forums. The English forum gets much more official PR attention than the Russian side. There is not even an equivalent of the Official Announcements forum section for the Russian side. They mainly rely on our English updates, which are translated to Russian after the fact. There are just as many complains on the Russian forums about Western interest bias as the other way around. Given that the majority of developers are Russian speakers, the unofficial flow of information is somewhat greater on the Russian forum. But again, this is not something we intend to regulate as it would require us to keep track of and translate individual posts of individual developers. I competely sympathize with your interest in learning every bit of information available, but unfortuantely you're mostly on your own in digging up unofficial information that is not released as part of the public PR effort.
  13. Almost. The first three lines are game coordinates. This is distance + altitude in meters from the map center, which is all the way in the Crimean peninsula. Honestly I'm not even sure this particular trigger is currently functional. There is another trigger - Show Helper Gates for Unit. This trigger creates gates based on the waypoint locations of a set unit.
  14. As you probably know, ED is currently preparing v.1.2.3 of DCS World. The Huey project is not planned to be included in this update. So although I have had not official sanction to say so, I think it's pretty safe to assume at this point that we will not make the release this year. "This year" was included in the announcement as we felt it was both flexible and reliable enough to be said. Well, it's not the first time such a mistake occurs and I'm sure not the last. Whatever your thoughts today, in truth we get burned no matter which way we go - if no date is mentioned at all, the forums are filled with questions (and eventually complaints) about the lack of a release date. If a release date of any kind is provided (which is normal in an official press release), it is very often missed and we are criticized for that as well. I would ask that you just keep your emotions in check and remind yourself that there has been no damage and no offense done onto you personally. There should be no reason for you to be upset or angry on our forums. If you also remember I had said earlier that we are not able to release project media until some legal issues were resolved. We were still waiting for this as of a couple of weeks ago, hence the continuing lack of media and website content. The actual Huey model has not been significantly changed recently, with most of the work being focused on testing and tuning, adding various model, audio, visual, and damage effects. However there has been work on training missions and finalizing the manuals, which are now in a good state of completion for a beta release. If there is a delay of a few weeks, there is a good chance the beta will include a campaign, which would not have been the case with a release before end of year. There have a been a number of new skins added, as well as new pilot models. As far as I know the Huey will be the first DCS module to include broken canopy visualization as part of the cockpit damage model. This looks quite nice and I hope we can show some screenshots of it soon. We've added a new trigger in the ME that allows us to change the cargo weight of a unit. This way we can change the helicopter weight in real-time during the mission to simulate loading/unloading of cargo. There is not yet a sling load capability, though as I've said it is something we believe we will be able to make in the final product.
  15. We are still working. Unfortunately I have no official updates to bring about the release at this time. In the meantime, I hope everyone here is enjoying the holidays and wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
  16. There are already some curved runways in DCS. It's a matter of new runway modeling and placement technology and requires individual development for each airbase.
  17. A small update. Obviously the table hasn't been cleaned since the first photos....
  18. There are special trigger rules for this, called "Unit Inside Moving Zone/Unit Outside Moving Zone". Using these you can attach your zone to one of the units on the map. The zone will then be attached directly to the unit's center and move with it.
  19. SPO is a Russian abbreviation that stands for Система Предупреждения об Облучении (Romanized to something like "Systema Preduprezhdeniya ob Obluchenii), which can be translated as Illumination Warning System. So, contextually, it is the direct equivalent of "Radar Warning Receiver" and is used as such.
  20. Updated training missions can now be downloaded from the User Files site here: http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/250461/ Unpack the archive into the game's Mods\aircrafts\A-10C\Missions\EN\Training folder. The updated missions will be included in the next World update.
  21. Updated training missions can now be downloaded from the User Files site here: http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/250461/ Unpack the archive into the game's Mods\aircrafts\A-10C\Missions\EN\Training folder. Please let me know if you continue to experience problems. We still need to update the missions for other languages.
  22. I'm sorry guys, this fix is on me. I have about half the missions fixed and tested, but had to leave town to attend an expo show for a few days. Will try to have them all fixed and released in the next few days.
  23. We are working now on updating the training missions to fix the heading issue. Good idea to fall back on the videos in the meanwhile.
