  1. Will anyone know/care? I would absolutely love a Vietnam war map (I've raised threads on this previously so won't go into it), not just for air combat, but to REALLY use the Huey. Right now the huey is underused.
  2. Not necessarily. Most 4 engine a/c don't have weapon systems which is what takes a lot of dev time I understand. I used to love flying the Herc in FSX - would absolutely love it in DCS - hell, even an AC130 to push it a little. Just adds a bit of variety although not much from the flying perspective if you are doing A2AR (unless you like racetracks on AP :P). If anyone has played the TAW campaign for IL2BOS, you'll see that there's a big requirement for cargo a/c (JU52/PE2) - same for something like the C130.

  4. SEAD capability is one thing I'm eagerly awaiting. My squad does a lot of MP missions but we end up having to use the SU25T for SEAD (which looks really silly lol esp when all the strike a/c are carrier based). Once we get the Hornet with SEAD capability, that will REALLY open up the battlefield and deep strike capability using just the one aircraft type. Right now the Hornet is almost defenseless against multiple enemy SAMs, esp with 30 flares/30 chaff only.

  6. I love DCS but most times I get bored quickly with gameplay. flipping switches and flying around killing targets that just sit there saying 'kill me, kill me' isn't very interesting at all. We need some sort of proper online dynamic campaign ie. something that has: 1. moving map 2. proper thought into supply and logistics (an army moves on its stomach...or availability of fuel in this day and age) 3. proper battles, attacks, thrusts, etc controlled by AI 4. constant need to resupply our own troops 5. proper infantry animations esp boarding/exiting helicopters 6. ideally the AI would fight the AI in a big battle and we just join and leave as necessary 7. proper tactical and strategic targets which have flow on impacts to manpower, resources, etc 8. Proper beach invasions with landing craft, etc
  7. Ideally Vietnam/Laos/Cambodia or South America or somewhere. We have desert (yay) and we have the Caucasus region...now we need the jungle. Doing something like Vietnam atleast allows us to try and recreate the Vietnam war (where we can FINALLY use the Huey in the proper time period).
  8. Dammit why only one choice??? (rhetorical) TBH I want both the HARM and guided bombs. At the moment my squad has to use the trashcan on our ops for SEAD (and it looks really weird having a single SU25T flying alongside a flight of Harriers and a flight of hornets). The aim is to use 1-2 a/c types max, however SEAD is pretty important. having said that, CCIP/auto bombing is still pretty inaccurate. We could really use guided munitions.
  9. didn't think about turning the caucasus map 90 deg left....it could/would work esp if there's a lot of jungle added, plus fixed firebases.

  11. yeah just single circle. I've been making the mistake in ACM of pulling too many g's on corners and ending up with a speed deficit then getting owned. Its more about what do I do after a head on pass doesn't result in a kill, if I turn - whats the best speed/g to turn back towards the bandit whilst still coming out at around 400kts.

I know every a/c has a best 'corner speed' (I'm sure thats what they call it) ie. the best IAS and g to give you maximum turn without losing speed (which you would if you just hauled the stick back). I'm quite sure its in the early 400kt range (420kts?) but not sure on g...maybe 1.5g? 2g? Every a/c has a best corner speed which i think becomes quite important in ACM (no point doing a max turn at 4g's then coming out of your turn at 180kts when your target is doing 480kts).

  14. Just FYI: - I get a black screen every time I join a server...only the first time (thank goodness) but every time without fail. I have 32gb RAM. - when i do load in, it takes a while before my cockpit actually shows up but thats been mentioned above
  15. Hi guys yeah I know this is probably down to the respective servers however I understand a lot of this can't be done in DCS world as yet. Not sure. Either way, these are the kinds of missions that it would be great to see in DCS World: 1. invasion forces - invasion fleets including warships and cargo ships, landing craft, etc - landing craft and tanks actually landing on shore 2. Moving vehicle convoys 3. Destructible buildings 4. airbase destruction eg. cratering of runways, hangars, buildings, revetments, etc 5. enemy carriers including takeoffs/landings - imagine a scenario where you defend against enemy a/c then hunt their CV!! 6. enemy bomber formations protected by fighters Rather than constantly churning out new a/c, I'd love to see ED focus on making DCSW into a full battle environment including properly done explosions (including pressure waves, etc), collateral damage, etc.

  17. hi guys The issues I've documented below are from my experience playing on the aussie Through the inferno server (hosted by ATC): 1. When selecting my role in the role selection, the first time I do it I ALWAYS get a black screen. Nothing I can do will stop this. I then have to exit, kill DCS then restart and it'll work. 2. Quite a number of times now, I've gone head on with F-4E's (which are autogenerated) and EVERY time they have me locked and I have them locked my game will freeze. Once or twice it unfroze (I was dead then as I had no control and flew into the water) - the other 3-4 times I've crashed back to the main game ie. out of the server. its only with the F-4Es so far. 3. If i try and select the carrier slot straight off joining the server (after 1. above is sorted), when i spawn i automatically die...EVERY TIME. This is because somehow my a/c will lag forward then back to its original position usually bumping whatever is there or just exploding. This really needs to be sorted. The workaround is that on joining, i always spawn at an airfield...once the a/c is fully modelled I then select the CV slot and have no issues (unless someone else spawns and warps into my a/c then rinse and repeat). Really loving this game but the above needs to be sorted.
  18. Is it just me or is A2A refueling in the Hornet just soo much easier than anything else?
  19. ah you must be doing the same mistake I was...you're using \ to get comms right? well that won't work as you actually need to bind Comms 1 and Comms 2 (Right Alt + / maybe?). Then you choose which radio to use to dial in the tanker freq then you select Comms 2 and it'll be there.
  20. yeah ok thanks guys thats what i thought. I'm a huge fan of reading F105 missions to North Vietnam so I guess this is something like it...but even then they still had jammers, etc. Can't wait to try that out for the Hornet.

I'm loving the Hornet and flying it on the Inferno server...however a lot of the time I'm up against a heavily defended target which has multiple SAM sites, and here I am in a Hornet with no TGP or AGMs..just dumb bombs and CCIP. How am I supposed to attack the target? Do I go really low or do I go really high (to give myself room to try and out maneouver the SAMs)? I've found you can fool 1, maybe 2 SAMs...but not necessarily 3-4 all headed towards you. Or should I try and just fly with others and try and attack the target simultaneously from diff directions?
