Upgrade the animations of the foot soldiers?
The_Pharoah replied to Hoodaya's topic in DCS Core Wish List
To add to this, we also need to see troops IN helicopters. There's nothing that kills immersion worse than being in a huey, 'loading troops', looking back and seeing the chopper empty. I mean WTF - we supposed to imagine them? -
Other than something diff to fly because we like the aircraft itself (look/sound/etc) rather than actual application (kinda like the F-104 IMHO), i don't see the attraction. The F-117 flew mostly at night from what I understand...and had a really small radar signature. Now try and model that in DCS where most servers empty when night falls AND the AI can still find you anyway due to their magic radars. You'd just be a sitting duck. No, give me something better like the F-111 or A6 or hell even an F-105 (that flew daylight missions into North Vietnam braving Migs, SAMs and AAA) any day.
-
yes please. Oh man, that last pic with the mulitple Mi24s would be awesome to experience ingame

What this aircraft (and this game) needs is a South East Asia map (Vietnam North & south, Laos, Cambodia and a bit of Thailand plus the gulf of Tonkin

2.5.6: cannot startup, crew won't disconnect gnd pwr / air

I just taxi away.AI: "hey, what are you doing?", me: "yeah whatever, 'flips bird" -
I'm certainly saying it as I've seen/experienced it firsthand, mostly on the TTI servers which I think have racetrack patterns. Its a PITA when it happens but it doesn't happen often, and sometimes I think probably due to lag (lets not even talk about that). Either way, we digress - the speed calling out is great. If they can incorporate turns as well, nice but not essential. All my tanking to date has been without speed calls, but then again I usually fly formation on the tanker first before tanking to get an idea of the tankers speed. The only issue I find is where you fail to make the final call to the tanker whilst in formation (say you're lined up behind it and make the final call, which I forget), then the tanker suddenly speeds up by 10 kts and you're left wallowing whilst trying to match its slower speed! lol.
-
While tanking you can certainly pick up when the tanker starts to turn AS LONG AS it doesn't bank more than say 10 degs which I've seen tankers online do. Then you have no hope. Much easier with probe/drogue than boom I find. Still nice to get speed notifications though.

Forgive my cynicism but this is a free map of the Marianas....so I'm expecting the Marianas islands surrounded with the blue pacific. Thats it. they probably couldn't have picked a more remote place with nothing else to model other than Guam, the northern marianas (Rota, Saipan, Tinian) and...........the pacific. https://www.google.com.au/maps/place/Northern+Mariana+Islands/@13.3554972,145.3534336,6.25z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x66d8b13490995c51:0x9db7ebab7c3a0e32!8m2!3d15.0979!4d145.6739 While i'm happy we're getting something new, I'm also aware of what we're not getting ie. lots of land mass. So...for MP, I'm assuming this is geared for the supercarrier so it'll be USN vs RuN carrier groups fighting it out for those islands, or maybe blue based on Guam (it is a USAF base) and Red based on Saipan. Remember we'll be using modern jets so the trip from Saipan to Guam will be maybe 20 mins (220kms/135 miles). It does seem weird we're getting a central Pacific map when all our WW2 assets are based on the ETO with no jap planes. Unless thats the 'secret new aircraft' coming. Hope not. What this will also highlight is the lack of landing craft in the game. The island hopping campaign of WW2 was based on skipping certain islands and taking certain islands (cutting off the others). That meant loads of higgins boats and LCTs, etc plus rocket barges. We dont' have any of that. Pls ED don't give us another map that'll get used for the first week then everybody resorts to the Black Sea map because its the most complete. I'm looking at you NTTR/Normandy (what a waste of money).

Ok I'm just regurgitating what I posted elsewhere but here it is. I'm posting it separately because I'd love for the devs to see it and hopefully consider it. WISH Ideally included as part of the dynamic campaign they're building for MP. My wish is for the development and inclusion of a proper inbuilt mission tasking system which provides users with a list of tasks (either predetermined or based on 'needs' say with the dynamic campaign which takes into account ongoing battles, supply needs, 'thrusts', troop support, supply, logistics, etc. Examples: You spawn in a huey, you could potentially be tasked with: 1. troop transport from point A to B until complete; 2. VIP transport from point A to B to C to D; 3. gunship support for TIC (troops in contact); 4. SAR 5. armed recon along a certain point; 6. sling loading until complete, etc 7. ship to shore loading/unloading including sling loading You spawn in a Hornet or F14, you could potentially be tasked with: - CAP in a specific area - routine patrol - armed recce - SEAD against identified targets (PP mode) - CAS for TIC - escorting those a/c doing CAS (above) or clearing the airspace around TIC - anti shipping - strike and deep strike missions (against buildings, structures, etc) - ferry flights from carriers or spawning out in the ocean to replenish battle losses - escorting VIPs or cargo a/c, etc You get the drift. The taskings should be specific to your a/c (so what you'd get for a Harrier should be different than for a M200C). That way, on a server in an ongoing 'battle', you don't have to try and figure out whats happening (unless you want to) - as IRL you get a briefing and your part in it, and away you go. The server will then be filled with loads of a/c all doing diff tasks but contributing to the war effort...and pilots would then realise they're part of something 'big' ie. I'm spending an hour sling loading barrels off a ship to an airbase, because the airbase is running out of fuel supplies so jets can't fly and perform their missions.
-
I'd love to be able to spawn at the island and walk to my a/c, do a walk around before climbing the ladder and jumping into the cockpit.
-
I still want my friggin shared cockpit that was promised at the time of EA. 7 fkg years and its still 'in development'. Meanwhile they've had time to release a heap of other a/c.
-
Battlefield logistics and supply HAS to be included in the dynamic campaign when its finally finished. Throughout history, supply has been one of the major issues for every army eg. fuel for the germans towards the end of WW2, same with supplying during autumn/winter to the front lines on the eastern front. To that end, we will also need means of supply, which for this game usually means vehicles, helicopters and cargo a/c. At a minimum, there's got to be atleast: 1. Blackhawk/Seahawk helicopters (seahawks do multiple sling load trips from supporting vessels to carriers; the army supplies FOBs, etc by helicopter) 2. Carrer based transport a/c (C-2, etc); 3. larger transport a/c such as the C17 (ok 4 engined I know) or the C27J Spartan which has two engines.

If there's one thing that I want added to DCS core, especially for MP missions is some sort of inbuilt mission notification or mission request. Too many times you jump on an MP server, read the brief and still have NFI where the enemy is, especially if you're flying choppers. I can't go very far, very fast so the thought of having to fly 100nm to get to the target is not my idea of fun. That aside, it would be great to be able to jump into a server (hopefully once the dynamic campaign mode is complete) and be presented with the current status, map (incl front lines marked) and a list of tasks to be completed based on your aircraft type. So if you spawn in a huey you'll be tasked with: 1. troop transport from point A to B until complete; 2. VIP transport from point A to B to C to D; 3. gunship support for TIC (troops in contact); 4. SAR 5. armed recon along a certain point; 6. sling loading until complete, etc Similar for jets. You should get a notification of taskings available eg: - CAP in a specific area - routine patrol - armed recce - SEAD against identified targets (PP mode) - CAS for TIC - anti shipping - strike and deep strike missions (against buildings, structures, etc) Nothing would be more immersive than that. IRL pilots don't just jump into a jet/heli, load up whatever they want and go 'hmmm, where do I go today?'.

then you need to practice touch n goes my friend! :) actually I figured out a good way to keep from the dreaded VRS - you keep your fps on the descent to around 500fpm. If it goes higher than that (1000fpm+) and you try and counter with added engine power, thats what seems to bring on the VRS. I find its easier to set up nicely with a long smooth descent at around 500fpm. I also found that if you have enough altitude and you inc to 1000fpm (happens in the blink of an eye sometimes), just put your nose down and the fps will drop but you then have to adjust your final flare and landing point. Re the original question, the hardest I find is the Huey as well and the Mig21, mainly due to its high speed

Maybe we come back in 12 months and do a: promised vs delivered comparison. Not saying I don't have faith in ED (I've spent enough money on DCS and its products to show said faith), but they do have a habit of taking forever to get stuff done. Fingers crossed that I eat my words next year.

Haven't read the whole 10 pages so far but I'm really hoping we will get something like the Sikorsky UH-60 Blackhawk. Its in service with so many countries and services both the US Army and US Navy (well the SH-60 but close enough...and certainly beats seeing gazelles on the back of destroyers guarding the Stennis!!). Otherwise, I'm hoping for a NATO helicopter gunship - ideally the AH64 or AH1. We need more helicopters in DCS. Its a bit of an immersion killer trying to do modern day ops flying in troops in 1960s/1970s era Hueys. For jets...we definitely need a Redfor attack aircraft like the SU30 or something like that.
-
How about South America? say Ecuador to Venezuela.
-
I've contributed to a thread on reddit re this. Would the Blackhawk be declassified enough for DCS to model? Would ED even look at this? Nothing breaks immersion like spawning into a cockpit on the Stennis, then looking across at the accompanying destroyer (or frigate or whatever) and seeing a Gazelle on the heli pad. Re classified - surely the Blackhawk is 'basic' enough for it to be modelled - hell we have civilian variants. You don't often see the hawk as a gunship even though it probably can pack weapons. Other than your standard MGs, rocket pods, maybe hellfire, flares, etc - what else is there??
-
lol so am I. The Huey was released in 2013. Its 2020. Where's my damned multi-crew, ED?? In that time, you've had enough 'insufficient resources' to release a crap load of stuff including the Hornet, Viper, etc. But yet no multi crew. Get your priorities straight.
-
The Huey was released 6 years ago.....6 friggin years and multicrew is still not in there. Its like buying a meal from macdonalds and being told 'we're still making your drink'......fast forward 6 years and the person at the counter says....'oh yes sorry, your drink...we're ummm still making it'. They deserve ALL the negative publicity they get for crap like this.

All Russian missiles stuck at 1990, no improvements since?
The_Pharoah replied to silent one's topic in DCS Core Wish List
That and the ED programmers in Russia don't want to get a late night visit from the KGB (or their modern day equivalent) about somehow giving away military secrets in a game! :) (even though I'm fully assuming a lot of DCS sales of the hornet, viper and A10 have been to the RuAF for 'practice') -
I just wish we had more maps whether it be internally developed or externally developed. Or maybe we can somehow incorporate DCS aircraft into FS2020 when it comes out :) that would be the dream wouldn't it?
-
Disappointing. Been after Vietnam era aircraft for a long time.

CESSNA C185 SKYWAGON FOR DCS
The_Pharoah replied to Patrick56's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Excellent mod. Would be nice to have a few WP rockets on each wing and some green paint on the outside!! :) -
ok sweet I'll give it a go
