  1. Yes. I love desert maps but having 3 out of 4 for modern ops is a bit of overkill (Normandy/Channel is WW2 basically as noone runs as modern ops). We need jungle maps ie. SE Asia, South America, etc but also other areas like the Korean peninsula, Africa, etc.
  2. OP Question: Would you fly Civilian/military cargo plane in DCS? My response: HELL.YES. :)
  3. This. C'mon ED....this has happened multiple times in the past. We get all frustrated then the big boss comes out to calm us down and your COO does another reddit post to keep the communication channels open, and ask us to be calm and work with you guys to improve. Then you go and do it again. You guys ask us to trust you but you break more stuff than you fix. And don't roll out the whole 'but this is EA'. C'mon ED, get your house in order.
  4. 2 sides to every coin. Most if not all of the 'critics' actually love the game...hell I do, and I'm a big critic. Remember, they produce stuff, we pay for it. Just churning out something (incomplete now with the EA process) and expecting a pat on the back doesn't work anymore...not when it can take years to get to the end. Hell, I bought the Huey back in 2013...and I'm still waiting for my shared cockpit. Its 2020. The module has been released as complete. But I'm still waiting for my shared cockpit. Part of our job as customers is to provide feedback. Thats part of the EA process isn't it? while it may come across as criticism, its actually feedback. some good, some bad. If we were all fan boys, how would ED actually know whats wrong? how long they're taking? There's an old saying 'give a worker 5 days and he'll take 5 days'. What we're trying to avoid is a 'just push it out and we can relax and enjoy the $$ coming in until they start complaining then we start work again'. Not to say ED does that (we know they're busy), but software development is still a business...a project business which has to abide by business rules including timelines, feedback, making/keeping the customer happy, etc. DCS is by far the most impressive combat flight sim I've ever seen. Being able to take off from the supercarrier, refuel, fly 200nm to bomb a target, fight some jets, refuel and do a full Case II or III landing back on a carrier is just awesome. However, DCS isn't perfect. There's lots of buys flying around. Little ones, big ones. Most we can ignore or say to ourselves 'yeah, that'll be fixed soon' but...I'm still waiting for my Huey shared cockpit....and its been 7 years. For the Huey. Yeah its small in the scheme of things (look how far we've come) BUT I paid for the Huey with a shared cockpit...thats what was marketed at the time of EA. You keep doing stuff like this then customers start to get frustrated and doubt your word. As someone above posted, our criticism HAS lead to improvements in the way ED operates...or atleast communicates. Thats excellent. But don't fight the developers' battles for them. They're the ones getting paid. we support them with our money and time but we're entitled to provide criticism. And I'm in Aust...almost every module (even discounted) costs more than a AAA title. remember, most if not all of us are here because we actually LOVE DCS. Not because we're trolls.
  5. I did notice during Wags' Viper video there were instances of flaring or something with the lighting. And it looked like the brightest day in 2000 years!
  6. We need different options when it comes to maps. Something that is sorely needed is jungle maps ie. Asia, parts of Africa, South America. I'd love a Vietnam map but I'd settle for something similar. ED really kill us by making maps paid for. The player base isn't that big...and having paid maps just splits the online community even more. Have a look at BoX where all the maps are free so when maps change, you don't automatically kick players out.
  7. ED are doing an excellent job however there are parts of current MP missions (which is only what I play) which are missing ie. - a proper dynamic campaign that places a LOT of focus on logistics. Planes/tanks/ships can't move without fuel, can't shoot without ammunition. - a proper moving front line - a proper tasking system ie. as IRL, you don't just jump in any free jet, load up whatever you want and go joyriding. No, there's supposed to be a set of proper orders for you or your squadron - More maps. We really only have 2 maps for modern play. The others don't get used much or at all. Or if they are, they're usually empty. - we need period specific stuff eg. Vietnam only or Korea only (incl map), etc. The current hodge-podge of 'its a sandbox' doesn't cut it for long.
  8. Thats a big NO from me. With the current model, the onus is on the developers to work hard and fast to get out new modules to keep the $$ rolling in. With $$ rolling in without having to necessarily 'earn' it (not being facetious - I know devs earn $$ for what they do), there is potentially a lack of urgency there. Then you ask yourself, at what point do you know you're getting value for money? I'm in Aust. Our exch rates are crap. Everything that comes out is USD which is almost double for us. So if its say US$40 that could be potentially AUD$70/month. What happens if I can't pay for that month? Do I suddenly lose access to all my modules? to online play? No thanks.
  9. On most of our ops this is a necessity. We place our carriers far out to see on on the Georgia map or South or Southwest on the PG map that requires us to take atleast 1-2 tanks to deliver ordnance into say Iran. Thing is though, when you're using mil power or even afterburn, you go through a LOT of fuel quick. We usually then have a tanker stationed about half way home, which we fill up on (just enough to get back with a bit of spare) and and SB3 over the carrier group. Its sort of what they do IRL (well, the SB3 over the group anyway).
  10. We definitely need more naval assets, especially with the focus on naval ops (supercarrier). One thing that is missing though is landing craft of some sort. We should be able to see actual landing craft approaching beaches for invasions.
  11. yeah sorry mate. This is a sim (not being facetious). A2AR is difficult IRL...just watch any of the videos on YT especially the ones that focus on the pilot maintaining position (the larger birds) - you'll see all the little adjustments they're making...no autopilot there. Just practice. The Hornet is the easiest to refuel...I have curves added to my joystick and throttle (very important to maintain the right spacing) and I can do it without any problems. However i still struggle with the boom. Only ever done full tanking with the viper and hog once. BUT when you finally nail it, its a massive achievement. So practice.
  12. I only ever play OB and all my squad mates are the same. We 'live' with the bugs but also get to enjoy the latest patches. Unfortunately as always, ED will fix 5 things and break 10. But I guess we are beta testers after all right? so we shouldn't complain. Highly recommend you join OB. And try the supercarrier...that module is bloody awesome!!
  13. Out of interest, why is that? Its like the dumbest thing ever to ignore your competition...like Boeing going "we're the ONLY aircraft manufacturer in the world...they will buy all our airplanes" Comparison to other developers and other similar games is healthy..where else can we give valid examples of things that work, that CAN be implemented rather than just a wishlist. If BoX has perfect volumetric clouds (or whatever they call it) and the ED devs say 'no it can't be done', thats BS. obviously within reason and using valid examples...but there shouldn't be a blank ban on any references you would think.
  14. thanks mate - hopefully that works better now
  15. hi guys/Devs I know the DC is apparently in the works. While you're trying to figure out and design how it should work, PLEASE watch this video: One thing that comes out of it is the importance of logistics as well as the importance of ground forces and the ground battle. Air forces are support arms essentially...they will never put boots on the ground to take and hold (ignoring any SF components). Please build this into your DC ie. the importance of logistics, the importance of troop support, but also a proper dynamic map with actual forces moving in coordinated thrusts, etc.
  16. I have a crappy system but it runs fine on this server (primarily because there's not a lot of AI, etc). I would though love to see a lot more of accidents, etc in the middle of the towns/cities rather than just purely trying to hover over large forests Also this mod (ref above) https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=124251 is bloody awesome - adding oil rigs, landing platforms, etc.
  17. Yes interesting indeed. Also, given this also includes civil ops, are we able to get other civil ops like VIP transfers etc?
  18. You need to map a key to Player Radio or something (its under Cyclic in the controls menu). That will bring it up. You can't access any of the radio commands without it. Flew last night with two mates, with two of us taking Mi8s. So much fun and I ended up having to play airborne FAC to help him get his Mi8 in between trees. Would be good to see car accidents etc where we have to land on roads. What would be an EXCELLENT addon (if possible) would be this: Fires everywhere and the ability to drop water!
  19. don't know if I've requested this in the past but I'd like to visually see a full helicopter ie. soldiers/people in the main cabin plus new animations of AI boarding/exiting the helicopter
  20. just search the name (SAR etc) - thats how I found it
  21. just gave this server a go - so awesome. Used to do this type of mission in FSX. Unfortunately sometimes the smoke dissipates whilst you're trying to hover and you're constantly trying to maneuver to an imaginary point using the '5m at 3 oclock' guidance. This server really requires you to have good control esp in the hover including ingress/egress. I unfortunately tried to hover in pitch black with no reference point (makes you wonder how the huey pilots did it in vietnam) and ended up losing RPM.
  22. This. I'd love to have more things to do in DCS instead of just blowing stuff up. Even with the Huey, blowing stuff up isn't that easy with FFARs. Would prefer other things like this. Sadly it just seems DCS is focused primarily on fixed wing.
  23. "All good things come to those who wait". A lot of us have been waiting for this since 2013 when the Huey was released. Good to see its on the 2020 roadmap though. Bout time really.
  24. sometimes I think the whole dev pipeline goes all over the place when developers focus on building stuff thats potentially 'easy' vs what the game really needs. Eg. the Christian Eagle. Diff schools of thought obviously however I think they (including ED) forget that this game is called Digital COMBAT SIMULATIONS ie. combat. The Christian Eagle belongs in FSX or FS2020 not DCS IMHO. I wish they would focus on things that enhance gameplay especially: 1. aircraft/maps/assets for specific battles or wars so that you have things that actually went up against each other (like WW2) 2. more maps 3. more focus on logistics (life blood of any army) eg. supply trucks, shipping, cargo, etc 4. support aircraft like the E2
