  1. Very cool - immersion is everything! My first flight sim was MicroProse F-15 in 1985. Objectively, it was like chasing wire coat hangers over chicken wire, but to me I was in an F-15 over the Persian Gulf and I enjoyed every minute.
  2. I have it set up on an external SSD with a USB 3.1 port. Everything works fine, and very fast.
  3. Perfect! Thank you!!!
  4. You sir, are a steely eyed missile man!
  5. Would it be possible for you to post just a pdf version of your map as soon as you're happy with it?
  6. Flappie, thanks again for all your effort. The map version that's in CombatFlite does not look like the images you have been posting. Is this correct, or am I missing something?
  7. Nice arithmetic trick!
  8. Great work, and very much appreciated!
  9. Here's the drag index and fuel planning worksheet, along with many other useful things. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/172905/
  10. I'm not sure it's quite what the OP is looking for, but I agree that the FSX book is excellent, and a very good read for anyone interested in piloting, whether you have access to a real aircraft or not.
  11. We should not feel too bad. I believe it is quite rare in the USAF for a pilot to hold more than one type rating at a time. Now we know why.
  12. Well put Kocrachon. I'm also a developer and the terms Alpha, Beta and Release mean very concrete things, and for very good reasons.
  13. Tried a reboot, then stopping background services ordered by most memory, then running DCS with low settings - same crash. The access violation error seems to always come up: E:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\edterrain4.dll # C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at D0AAB15C 00:00000000 Thanks again for your help. I've spent quite a bit of time this weekend trying to get it going. I think I may have to give up on PG and wait until I upgrade my system. Everything else in DCS is excellent, so life is still good! dcs.log-20180930-194701.zip
  14. Thanks for the very quick reply! I'll try those. Even though my system is far from cutting edge, I can get medium-high graphics on everything else in DCS with frame rates from 40-60 which is great for me. Is PG that more demanding on resources?
  15. The Persian Gulf map causes a crash every time when I go into the Mission Editor. Everything else works ok. This is the first problem I've ever had with DCS. The crash log shows an access violation error. Lots of C: drive activity when I start the Mission Editor for Persian Gulf, but all my installation is on E: (SSD). I've tried a Repair, running as Admin, and also renaming the SavedGames folder, disabling and re-enabling the terrain, running with all low settings, all to no avail. I'm running the free weekend trial. I wanted to buy the package with PG and F-18, but I won't if this can't be resolved on my system. I've sent the info to ED tech support, and I know they must be super busy, but I don't know how I'll verify that this works after the trial ends. Thanks for any help! 16. Just on #4 - I experience exactly the same thing on my X52pro, though not often. It seems to be the ministick on the throttle giving inputs - not the regular mouse. Sometimes just moving the ministick around will clear it, otherwise your solution always works for me.
  17. Thanks Sideslip for doing this so thoroughly and sharing the results. A big help for everyone! I'm not sure if ED themselves have shared anything like this, but they must have done it internally during development.
  18. $60. No regrets, I would pay the same today.
  19. Really outstanding work - could have been a major movie trailer.

    Very cool!
  21. This one was a great basis for me with the X52 Pro: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=58484
  22. Excellent! Thanks very much for sharing this, it would be a great asset to the official ED documentation for the A-10C.
  23. I just had the same problem with the twitchy rudder on my x52 Pro. On the default control setups, the twist stick was competing with the rudder pedals even though I have it locked. Once I cleared the axis control on the stick setup, the rudder pedals worked fine.
