  1. Hi All... For some reason external stores are not showing up on the frog foot. A2A missile show... but drop tank Bombs and Rockets are not showing up at all. Has any one ever seen that issue before... I did a search and I could not find anything... Thanks -Bones
  2. Talked to him last month. He's a great guy and absolute legend. -Bones
  3. Fantastic! Wonders if that will also include airframe hours and failures as well as a role for for Heavies? A C-17 Escort may now have meaning???
  4. LP Hi All So does Lock On Platinum restore all of the Airbases in the Crimea as well as give you access to the airfields that were added in Black Shark? Just trying to get a better picture of the products scope. Thanks...
  5. Where you able pull out of that Split S?
  6. Pattern of the Day Yes during combat operations you brief on the pattern of the day. Let's say you are landing at a captured airbase for example, You follow what you briefed on. One day It could be Low and Fast. The next day it could be High and Slow. Tomorrow may call for an S-turn on at some point and some distance from the field. Lots of factors come into play in developing the pattern. As a pilot you learn quickly that you don't deviate from what you briefed on unless you have good reason. Same is true for your combat departures...
  7. Has anyone been able to find this title? It would be great to have the larger map and Airbases.
  8. Great post!! It's pretty simple. These So called attempt by users to build their personal ideas of systems "realism" into a consumer grade software title are nothing but pure junk. It's not meant to be harsh, but a simple statement of facts. The developers of the game wanted it to be fun and as representative of basic air combat is possible giving budgets and development time. Giving each user an interface (in this case simulated airframes) with some advantages in areas such as speeds, turn rates, sensors, and fuel consumption rates allowing the users to exploit the other users weakness while building systems and weapons that help balance the game and simulate air combat on a users PC. FACT: Most users will not fly and fight to win. Most user will fly suicide missions in an effort to win. And that's fine, because that's why people play games to offset the issues of reality. Most guys in game life will not turn around and egress the fight if the odds of living to fight another day are slim. That's not the case when you are sitting in a real cockpit with people throwing stuff at you that will distribute your body parts over larger areas. SO WHY ARE USER MISSILE and SYSTEM MODS JUNK? Because most of the users including the self proclaimed hardcore users that claim they have advanced knowledge of war fighting\air combat are truly clueless. You just can't make stuff up and call it realism. Most of these realism servers have even taken away certain view points from the users. No external views. No map views, No other ship view... some have even considered banning padlock view. You cannot just make the basic equivalence that in real life because the pilot is in the cockpit and can't see 3rd person views that the game player should not have all the Situational Awareness tools that the developers has made available. The truth is, in the real cockpit you have tools that give you way more SA than any 3rd person view could. When you limit the POV to just the cockpit view. You take way tools that offset the games limitations... making it much harder than real life. Looking at a PC screen is way harder than looking out of bubble wind screen. That's fact people. Example of making it harder for the user. In real life we have radio assistance/handlers for night operation. We have lights (even during high THREATCON/Combat Operations ) we have ways of seeing where to drive the aircraft to get it from parking to Hot and then to runway. Playing on one of these so called hardcore "realism" servers with the game time simulating night operations is beyond realistic, its really too hard to play. Its not realistic at all. Trying to drive from the shed to the runway is almost impossible. Which way do your turn? Having the external views provided by the developers offsets the many of the issues stated above. No one with any sense expects a consumer grade software title costing 2 or 3 million US dollars to develop by one of the most talented teams doing this type of work and costing the user under $100 US to have every detail that is present in real life simulated. It's just not possible to model all the consequences. So the developers gives the gamer tools to use to help balance the player experience. The views, the missiles, the exploits are all there for a reason. To enhance the user experience. To have some gamer sitting in his or her room coming up with realism standards based on ZERO knowledge of real combat systems , ZERO flight time or training and ZERO understanding of the life and death decision making / logic of the combat aviator does nothing to enhance the developer's work. It's just that simple. It's just dumb. ( not the people behind the mods. They are not dumb... their work is not dumb. The goal is dumb because they lack real knowledge. It's a noble attempt and the contributions to their community should be applauded. ) The best player mods for this title have been the amazing graphic work developed by this community. Terrain mods, Airbase mods, and 3D models and many other things that add to the title in a fun way. The system mods and missile mods are pure junk. And based on the thread starters post. Have killed his fun in the online arena. Clearly this was not the developers intentions. These so called REALISM mods and SERVERS that run them have no idea what realism is. They have no idea how missiles work or how they are employed in combat. They have no idea about combat aviation as well as no understanding of the F-15. When debriefing training evolutions between ANG Vipers and USAF F-15's, you don't get very many details from the Eagle community. So some dude changing scripts in his basement has no idea about detail combat capabilities of the F-15. The good is that they are trying. Maybe some day they will get it. Good Luck!!!
  9. Hi Jinro you can get a Dash 1 manual if you want to enhance your procedural knowledge regarding an airframe. They are great resources for those that want to know more then the data provided in a game manual. They also make great resources for developers along with their high time consultants and testers when trying to put as much fidelity into a program as possible giving limited budget and computing power. But they should not be used as guidelines for how your consumer grade game should function… In most cases it will now work out. A Dash manual can only relate to your game as a set procedural guidelines. Not a comparison document. Regarding your test… Unless GGT graduated from the USAF test pilot school...(Dream Job) There was nothing wrong about your test Jinro… [GGT, Please forgive the statement if you are a former or current test pilot.] Your environment is not inside of a real cockpit... you don’t have the same fidelity as you would if you were throwing multiple tons of metal and jet around the sky above... The Dash 1's tables don't matter when you play. Flight operations will not translate... Sadly since youwill be dogfighting against Airchair fighter pilots you will not see much realistic combat operations. Lock ON Seems like a program that is doing Maths in real time. And not table base when it comes to modeling the “Aerodynamics”. If this is the case… that would explain some of the findings you have reported… The rate of climb issues properly tested by GGT using the Air Force’s best practices and proper USAF Test pilot methodology may be different then other people’s findings due to CPU cycles and other things… who knows… Use those differences and exploit them. Learn to fly the Game's F-15. Not the real one.
  10. This may have been asked and answered already... Ordered a copy via Best Buy Online a month ago when I got back from training. Saw the post here about it... talking about the application's development. Not really seeing much comms about it here on the forums. Assuming now that the Best Buy thing was a pre-order option. Best Buy sends emails out saying its on back order... So is LOP out here in the US or is it a planned release? Thanks.
  11. Builders, Is it possible to build strike packages in FC2? Back in the older versions of Lock On the user could build packages where multiple ships of different type could be assigned different mission with in that package. Example Escort, SEAD, and Strikers could all be in one group of different airplanes assigned the same basic steer points and IP. But inside that package, the SEAD could be assigned there Action as well as their targets and the Strikers could have their task set to Ground Attack and have their own target sets. Is that no longer possible in FC2 or is it just really different then before. Thanks. -Bones
  12. What about TMIMITW(The Most Interesting Man In The World)?? On his web site he clearly states he routinely pulls 9 G's while trimming his beard. Chuck can't do that!!! The only other guy that may be able to pull it off is Old Spice! :pilotfly: This means both of these men could fly an A-10 without study or training... and when they fly commercial... they are free to walk around the cabin when taking off and landing...
  13. Yes and No Regarding none classified switchology... if a consumer simulation is an accurate representation of a certain aircraft's systems then it makes sense that you would have knowledge over that system if you tried to translate that knowledge to the real aircraft system. The problem is that most game based sims don't simulate the process chain to include consequences accurately among other things. Some things are not needed for a good gaming experience. So a good pc sim will give you some knowledge.. if it is not 100% accurate then it's pretty much useless in the real aircraft where your life depends on knowing your systems in every detail. Regarding flying... as someone that has done both....high-tech heavy aircraft are much easier to fly /land then a light aircraft like a 172 ... and the 172 is much easier to fly/land then a flight sim. But all three are lots of fun and that's a fact!
  14. Hello All, Is it possible to see the own ship as well as the AI's in the mission editor? Example: Users selects ownship/AI as MiG-29 subtype S and then selects Switfs as the "Paint" for the model... is there a way to preview this selection in the editor or can it only been seen when it's renedered in the game? Thanks -Bones
  15. Brilliant!
  16. Taxi takeoffs Why is it that people take off from the taxi ramps? The last few times playing on line this seems to be the standard.. Some people dont take off from the runway. This Video shows this trend in action.
  17. Too awesome! You are very lucky to get to fly both jets during your active duty career (Are you still active? Or are you on the ground full time now?) You must be part of your countries Air Force Exchange program if you are active duty?? How many hours do you have logged in both the F-15 and Su-27 airframes? There is nothing like turning real JP into noise!!!! It does gives you great insight and a solid base of comparison between PC based flight sim application and Real world hours...
  18. TOO Funny!!!!!!!! Rep+1 for that!! LOL!! :pilotfly::lol:
  19. How many times have you Crashed in DCS: Black Shark?
  20. Threads like this are fun to read. Thanks
  21. Umm Can't the same be said about everything about anything regarding aviation posted on a game site? Most of the guys that are writing about this thing are not even pilots / combat pilots. The only people that think they know what this Jet will do are the Engineers and they are basing that on their data models. Then the Test pilots are trying to find out if the brainy kids that built this thing really know what they are talking about by pushing the Jet to the limits and then past them... The jet has used less then a few tons of gas and people are doubting what it can do or making claims about what it can do... That's dumb. EVERYTHING about this project is Speculation / unknown even to the people that strap the dam_n thing on. Writers that claim they know about the 22, 35 and any other jet where the data is not public are just making noise just because they can. They don't know...
  22. Ok... that's what I was wondering... is this indication of board problem? Somehting is not communicating... Thanks to everyone for reading and replying...
  23. Thanks for the Info... I will order some spares....
