  1. Thanks, much appreciated. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/personal/backer/
  2. +1 It´s high time she gets released so the discussion can be taken to a more appropriate level.
  3. LOL Since we´re already at it: "The flight dynamics of the Fw 190 D-9 are a further develops the Advanced Flight Model principles started with the Su-25 and then later improved to Professional Flight Model (A-10C, P-51D etc.)." Here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/products/dora/
  4. Hi, and welcome. I think throttle and stick base dimensions are identical, but perhaps someone else can confirm that. My stick is currently at a friend´s place. Width of the base at the bottom is 18,4cm, lenght 22,45cm. Height of the base is 5cm, overall height of the throttle unit in center position is 17cm.
  5. Ok, I´ll have to look more into this issue on those forums. Thanks for your advice, but I have no plans of doing anything with @BIOS for now anyway. :D EDIT: Even Gigabyte´s support had no idea what to make of this after a detailed description of the problem...
  6. It´s running stable for now and everything works as intended, so I´ll count my blessings and try something like that some time from now. Reinitializing your PC can be kinda fun, but not if you have to do it 3 times in 48h with 30°C outside. I want to spend some time outside while it lasts... I´ve never had any trouble with the UEFI GUI for windows in combination with my ASUS board before. Saying that it´ll fry your hardware sounds a little extreme to me.
  7. Hehe, I never use anything but the drivers from the manufacturer´s homepage. I don´t feel suicidal. ;) The site was referencing some methods that MS offers with the Win7-CD and diskpart etc. After the second crash I felt rather homicidal...
  8. I had tried the instructions from that site adn the Win7 repair before. When I tried again now, although I did not do anything different than before, I got another error message, 0xc000000f, and after that it went back to a restored point, something that I had tried way earlier and which hadn´t worked at that point... Even the partitions are back in order... Let´s see where I can go from here... Thanks! :D
  9. I have a very weird problem: -> Upgraded Mainboard, CPU, and RAM... -> Formatted the SSD (designated C: ), installed Win7 64 Bit with complete updates and all other software/drivers, including Gigabyte´s AppCenter, EasyTune & @BIOS. Everything was working fine up to this point, even when running DCS and other games... -> Openend @BIOS to automatically update to the latest BIOS from file on desktop, completed the process and rebooted as prompted. Still, everything seemed fine... -> After beboot, windows confronted me with an error message 0xc0000225 "boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible", tried automatic repair and after that didn´t help, went back to install Win7 again with the new BIOS already in place... - After the Win7 installation was complete again, I naively tried to use Gigabyte´s EasyTune to speed the RAM up to 1866MHz, because it was still running at 1333MHz frequency. Had to reboot and ended up with the same 0xc0000225 error message as above... -> Found out that somehow the aplhabetic designations for the drives got jumbled and thus the system cannot boot up anymore. C: with the Win7 installation was now F: and other drives got mixed up, too. -> I tried automatic repair again and used diskpart to reverse the changes, but after every reboot everything was still screwed up. The memory is running at 1866 Mhz though... As one can imagine, the whole outcome has been rather frustrating :( Does anyone have any ideas, advice etc. as to the possible cause/nature of the problem and how t fix it permanently? It has to be possible to use the BIOS features under Win7 without breaking the whole computer each time. The same kind of feature used to work perfectly fine with my ASUS board that I was using before, both memory frequency and BIOS updates... Exact specs: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H Mainboard Intel i7 4790K CPU 8GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator Platinum 1866 MHz (conforms to QVL) Kingston HyperX SH100S3240G 240GB SSD (also, 2 older HDDs for storage) Gigabyte GTX 780Ti 3GB 750W PSU
  10. Hi! It´s the re-upload of an older showcase of general EDGE capabilities, not necessarily transferrable to what it might look like on your PC in the end. Project 9 is just a generic designation or code name.
  11. Awful, really? Does the taunting have to start now? ;)
  12. It´ll probably take me a little longer to fully realize it...
  13. Many other threads that were going in cyrcles have been locked long ago... :) Just saying, but I guess this particular undead can´t be killed even by a bullet to the head. I find it hard to undestand why so many people feel the need to repeatedly point ED´s attention to this rather insignificant detail, even if they have more than proven that they adhere to the highest standards possible for their modules? After bringing the issue up for the first time, don´t you think they would have checked this for themselves if they hadn´t already done so at that point? I really don´t get how sketchy drawings, stills from helmet cam videos and countless photos from a million different angles are going to change or help with anything after the artist has explained his conclusions and pointed out his sources almost a year ago? No offense to anyone, but enthusiasm is one thing, this here is just "slightly" obessive. ;)
  14. Yes, nothing is ever easy. I´m really looking forward to the first images/videos to showcase NTTR in EDGE. I´m right there with you. At some point back then I thought (hoped) it might be no more than 2-3 weeks or so. Boy, was I wrong. As a result I don´t really care anymore. But by now we have a pretty clear picture of what is to come and we know it can´t be much longer. After all, 2014 only has 5 months left... ;):devil_2: Aaand within no more than 7 days I´ll have my Dora to try out...
  15. Nice find! What about that Yak9U, La-9 & IL-4? My god, I shouldn´t be thinking what I am thinking right now...
  16. Nice rotor and engine sounds.
  17. It would seem so, but what difference do a few weeks or months make now in comparison to the time that´s been fugitting until now...? The only thing that I wonder is if NTTR will require further work because all we have seen so far is good ol' Georgia. ...and how massive the changes that 2.0.0 will ll bring really are. It sure sounded big.
  18. Well, it´s in internal beta and Wags is posting official videos in EDGE. I´m quite happy that things have finally progressed this far now.
  19. Does anybody else observe this? The Sabre does behave a little strange when you kick her into fast and sustained roll movements, most notably at higher speeds (exceeding 450-500 kts IAS). The roll movement is not sustained evenly, but is cut off instead with virtually no effect of the ailerons, despite them being fully deflected. It doesnt´take long to recover from this, but I struggle to understand how both ailerons can become ineffective at the same time during a straight roll. Am I just too sloppy with regard to my AoA which inceases until the ailerons have less and less effect?
  20. I still don´t have any strong feelings about the Sabre in general, but in DCS it is agile and responsive. Also, it seems she´s rather forgiving, unless you are getting too slow. Can´t say much abouth the A-A and A-G systems and weapons yet, which likely won´t be too complicated once control commands have been implemented and properly set up. The biggest challenge has been so far to establish a new routine for landings, but I am usually too fast and too high there, so I havent even really crashed her. Only wrecked the nose gear once... (The Mustang was a lot harder to break in.) Apart from this minor issue, the throttle really takes some time to get used to. At first I was oscillating like a madman, but that gets better rather quickly... My verdict: Fun, a justifiable day-1-purchase, perhaps this A/C has the potential to become a powerful MP-troll...
  21. I have now been using the X-55 throttle unit for more than 4 months. No issues but a couple of missing screws so far. During that time there have been no difficulties in the process of finding relatively uniform and intuitive control assignments for all the different types of modules in DCSW. Use of the keyboard is only very rarely necessary in any module... Yes, I know it says HOTAS on the box, but this works even modules lilke the A-10C, which have so many different commands that they can outnumber the buttons on most available controllers. Thanks to the sheer mass of buttons, switches, hats and rotaries on the throttle it is easily possible to sacrifice and assign 2 buttons as modifiers, thereby increasing the number of isntantly available commands on both throttle and stick (G940) even more. The mode switch on the other hand is something I instead like to use for setting the AP-mode in the A-10C or the pipper mode in the P-51D for example. All can be easily configured within DCSW, except for the "mouse-stick", which feels a little superfluous to me. Another button would have been nicer. :) Ergonomy is good, although some switches are bit hard to reach and it has nothing to really rest your wrist on. Throttle friction is nice and smooth and perfectly works for rotary as well as fixed wing A/C. For now, the X-55 joystick has gone to a buddy together with either a P-51 or Fw 190, so he can try out DCSW. It´s not that I don´t like it, but I prefer to have FFB and trim wheels. Even though I only use the throttle ATM, it is a purchase I certainly do not regret. Then again I was using the G940 throttle before... :D
  22. Sure, order placed 4:23 pm. Gotta use up all my bonus $ in the e-shop :D :pilotfly:
