I wonder if there are different grass types that match the colour of the ground they are placed on. IMO that´s the biggest weak spot of the current grass.

I have the same bias ;) But apart from that I just really love the idea of a powerful and agile anti-armor-helo in DCS. From what I´ve seen online, it must be an absolute blast to fly.

Yeah, I just want to add that I really appreciate those frequent little updates, too. Your texture and modelling work is at a very high level as usual. All the best wishes for your efforts again. The more I get into rotary wing aircraft and watch videos of the Bo-105 online, the more I look forward to your project.

I agree of course, but perhaps it´s a little easier for 3rd parties to deal with the expectations of the community because they "only" develop single modules that plug into the global platform. ED has to manage every technical detail associated with the huge undertaking of fleshing out DCS World and thus has to confront the vast array of ideas and expectations people have about how (and when) something should be incorporated. Certainly, individual modules of certain aircraft may also create some controversy (the canopy bar), but such specific details often don´t manage to get a larger number of people too excited.

Thx for the heads up! I guess some people are going to be disappointed because they won´t get their birthday presents tomorrow :) Looking very much forward to the release. It´s been a long time coming...

I could think of another image that would fit well into this context...
-
You are right, native resolution generally has better image quality. I definitely noticed this too when I ran 1080 on 1440p. The image is a little blurry, but it was only meant to be a last resort. Although nothing specific has been said about EDGE and it´s performance, I can only imagine that your 580-graphics card should be able to run the game at 1440p. What are your specs? Just to underline my point - I would gladly trade some image quality under 1440p (PP, render distance etc.) for the benefit of better visual immersion, overview, perception etc.
-
I can´t report any experiences on 580s and 27" WQHD, but generally the change in picture size and pixel density is quite noticeable. Flying will feel different in a positive way, not just the picture quality. The FOV can be greater, thereby providing better peripheral vision, better readability of instruments etc. I had 580/24"/1080p for 3 years and went to 780/27"/1440p just recently. My 580 was sometimes struggling with DCS at 1080p when I set AA and display resolution too high, but you should be able to find settings that don´t result in a slideshow. If it doesn´t work too well, get a new card ;) Eventually you will have to anyway and until then a WQHD display can also run 1080p... (if all else fails ;) ) Sadly, one can´t say how older cards will handle EDGE...

3 days, 3 days... What would you say about 3 years? ;)

Since everybody´s private ED-account determines what modules are installed or available for purchase, those accounts which belong to backers could be "flagged" and allow access to download and install early access modules via the module manager. To facilitate their integration access could be limited to single player only, although this might end up making things even more complicated when SP & MP don´t host the same content (bug fixing). Anyway, standing by for first official comment from ED on this.

DCS World environmental shaders mod
upupandaway replied to Mustang's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Updated from 5.16 last night - your mod really rocks! I personally like the bigger clouds quite a bit. The whole representation of atmospheric conditions looks very cool, especially with dynamic weather. Clipping is quite prominent in some cases though. The only thing i noticed was a seemingly shorter overall visibility (haze thickness). Is it it just an impression generated by the adjusted settings? -
Thought the same, it´s just the renderer. So we´ll have to see what the change log includes upon release. The last statement about collision before today left it very unclear wether it would be feasible at all.
-
You can find out wether a collision with trees? In incarnation 1.3.0 - no. incarnation = release??? Just saw this over in a russian EDGE thread. If I´m not misreading the google oracle the statement seems to leave the question unanswered if this will or will not be implemented in the future.
-
Yeah, quite possibly...

Just two weeks ago I switched my digital reward from the F-190 to alpha access and opted to buy the Dora instead when it comes out. The reason for me to get a litle more interested in WWII aircraft was actually the early access of another related game which provides some very solid fun for what it is at the time. ATM this is basically my only concern with regard to the whole issue. But I guess it´s just not been discussed sufficiently yet...

Very true! The only other games that provide such great value in terms of gameplay and longevity come from Bethesda and maybe Valve. :)

AvioDev C-101: Systems Simulation Overview
upupandaway replied to Tango's topic in DCS: C-101 AvioJet
Is the canopy fogging/cold soak based on any newly implemented mechanics of the core game / which ambient conditions already in DCS are relevant for this? As far as I know there is no moisture yet. Oh, and thx for the extensive information! :) -

What combat role could a mech play on a real battlefield?
upupandaway replied to guitarxe's topic in Chit-Chat
Had the exact same reaction the moment I read this post :) Mech games in the 90s were cool though. Off the top of my head I guess they could theoretically be mobile/semi staionary communications and surveillance relays... Then again you could easily drive other platform that actually exist on top of a hill and have the same effect. -
Thanks very much for the reassurance! I was personally hoping for a preliminary manual to start learning about the Dora.

Feel free to ignore this question if there is no answer to it at this point: Do the backers get a little head start? At least being able to download it before the ED-site succumbs to traffic overload? Am I wrong or was something like this mentioned some time ago?

So great to hear, best of luck in this final final phase - and thanks for letting us know.
