  1. Still on 16GB DDR3 + i5 2500 from 2012. Installed 2.5 open beta, Normandy, the A-8 and Spitfire, ww2 assets, and have been having a whole lot of fun flying the default missions. I expected heavy stutters in the bomber intercept missions, with lot's of action going on all around my A-8, but I kept betweeen 50 and 40 fps ( no Vsync here ). It's more than acceptbale for me, although O do consider an upgrade of processor and memory when possible.
  2. This was so far what gave me the best results, with my GTX 960 4GB GPU. I turned MSAA to none and SSAO to 1.5 and gain around 10 fps overall! Other suggestions also contributed to some fine tuning, and I am now good with my settings, until I can invest on a new rig :-)
  3. Thank you All guys, all good hints for me to test & see how they come out in my system. Yep, overclocking the 2500k was a possibility, but I would have to invest in proper cooling, and I am saving for a serious PC upgrade somewhere around mid 2020, so..., no more investment on this 2012 machine :-) @Kid18120, when you refer SSAO 1.5, would that be through NCP ?
  4. @draconus, thx for your prompt reply and suggestions. I'm at 1920 x 1080, HDMI monitor ( 29" ) and don't mind giving up on "graphics sugar" in order to get additional performance. I have Water set at MEDIUM, Textures all at HIGH, cockpit res is set at 1024 but will turn it down to 512 every frame ( otherwise it'll be interlaced, I guess ? ), and only 2x MSAA. I wonder how much grass distance and tree density affect performance at the present stage (?). Also have VSync OFF, Full Screen, Cockpit Global Illumination OFF ( ist this an FPS killer ? ). Thanks again for any additional hints. Ah, I'm fine with down to 30 fps too... although I got accustomed to 120-150 or even more in War Thunder ( Simulator Air Battles and Enduring Confrontation ), and also high fps in IL-2 GB.
  5. I reinstalled 2.5 beta, bought the A-8, and am trying DCS in my all time desktop ( the same since 2012 ). It doesnt run bad - I can get between 70 and 20+ fps, but I wonder what settings in the game menu and in Nvidia Control Panel you can recommend for: i5 2500 @ 3,3 GHz 16 GB DDR3 RAM GTX 960 4 GB DDR5 GPU Wind 10 Pro 64 bit Sim installed on 240GB SSD, system on another similar unit. Any suggestions really appreciated :-) Thank You
  6. See also here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4068849 A solution here for those who had similar problems when the Spitfire was released: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2306815/
  7. Thank you SO MUCH TED for your reply!
  8. TED, although out of topic, with your experience in the real thing I can't avoid asking you to comment on the quality of DCS's UH-1H Flight Dynamics and Systems Modelling. Have you used helicopters in other ( non-professional / FNPT ) simulator platforms ? How do they compare ? Thank you for any insight ;-)
  9. And although they arrived late ( maybe to late with the FS 2020 announcement ) they're also working on that highly detailled Spitfire for XP11, their first product for X-Plane.
  10. BTW, together with the A2A P51d, just found out that DCS is the only simulator that correctly models this behaviour among the 3 combat flight simulation tittles where P51s are represented. Very recently tested a version released for another platform, and just as in my goto WW2 simulation game - War Thunder in Simulator mode - it fails miserably to model the MP variation with RPM at low power settings or higher altitudes. DCS is, after all, the "study sim" of the combat fligth simulators. The rest is "suburbs"... but I do like walking there :-) - Has Nice Gals !!!! Curiously this very same question had been asked in a post of mine in 2012 :-) https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=99093
  11. And for fast adjustments, use the mouse cursor and drag the trim wheel...
  12. Really ? :-/ Bummer :-( Well, I'll wait for a few more months / years...
  13. How are the Fligth Dynamics at it's current state ? When the Yak-52 was released it had a few problems that some RW Yak pilot reported. There's a long thread about the issues, that started with simple stuff like pitching moment due to flaps deployment and so on... Have the updates brought it to better shape ? Can the FDM be considered closer to reality now ? What are, in the oppinion of those ( few I guess ) with RW experience on type or similar, the main positives & negatives of the model ? Thanks for any comments...
  14. https://www.yakuk.com/aircraft/yak-52/ where we can read: .Landing run is 200 meters (wheels down to stop, approach speed 130 kph)
  15. Hmmm, I was only aware that reading errors due to sideslip were modeled, which is actually a nice feature. Never noticed this other discrepancies ? Will check when possible and report back ...
  16. Problem is that, even with stiff rudder control systems, you will never be able to overcome the effects of trimming the rudder - it'll respond the same way no matter if you're ate 120 MPH or near VNE...
  17. It's very misleading to be able to use the rudder with the exact same response at any speed / "q"... It results in abrupt / jumpy behavior and it's also noticeable when adjusting the rudder trim at higher speeds. Even for users of FFB sticks, unless they use the "twist" axis for rudder, the problem will apply, excluding only the few that may own expensive FFB rudder control systems...
  18. It's particularly noticeable, not only in the Spitfires, regarding rudder stiffness. At any dynamic pressure you can step on the rudder and expect the exact same response. It's particularly irritating when trying to trim the rudder, in cruise, since the aircraft will bounce considerably because no stiffening effect is modeled in that axis, at least that I can notice...
  19. My main concern is with the rudder and even the rudder trim, that remain too responsive even at high speeds / dynamic pressure… It's easy to overcorrect with rudder or rudder trim. Just a slight touch and it wobbles. I believe that the Spitfire rudders were known to be stiff ?
  20. Very sad to read this. Kwiatek was a reference in he's always very RW-pilot-oriented observations about this passion of ours for flight, IRL and in the Virtual. My sincere condolences to he's family and those who had him in their hearts! RiP Kwiatek!
  21. To get the gear up, contrarily to what is required in that other ww2 sim, in this more detailed / realistic I-16 you really have to reduce your speed... otherwise your virtual pilot will have a hell of a work to get it up / down... Same for Flaps...
  23. During that bumpy takeoff, your knee flopped the ignition switch... ;)
