Was more the combined fault of Cahill and Jagielka. Only Suarez was up front at that time so one covers him and the other covers the space. Gerrard (who was poor last night generally) has to challenge for the ball and he's missed it slightly which can happen. If the defenders behind him were doing basic defending that situation would have been easily dealt with.

No it's not really due to do with how they play in European football. Brazil play the way they do due to a percentage based scientific analysis of their game that grew out of some soul searching after their high skill teams in the 80s did poorly in world cups. They started to emphasise strong physical players with high energy levels - particularly their full backs who had to get up and down the pitch and this has been drilled down to all the youth levels. To cover their full backs they employ these physical defensive midfielders. They'd then rely on one or two really top players to carry them through with some magic - such as a Ronaldo. The ideal of the magic samba team in Brazil died a long time ago at the hands of those who run Brazilian football themselves. In fact they've been pioneers in the scientific approach to the game and introduced advances well before some of their European counterparts to try and gain an edge. The only problem is that there's been a bit of a revolution in the game after the nadir of the early 90s and the emergence of high tempo, high skill teams has shown that modern football hasn't developed the way Brazil thought it would develop and they've in fact been left behind - I expect that they'll start to develop teams more in the mould of Germany who are able to match a high skill, high tempo game with physicality. This year's team are no different to how Brazil have played for quite a while now. Paulinho, Gustavo and Ramires can run a lot and win some ball but they can barely do anything constructive in it. The full backs get up and down but they're not on the level of previous greats such as Cafu. The only flair they have in the team is Neymar and Oscar and neither of those are true greats like Ronaldo. Their defence isn't great either - Luiz and Alves are prone to making mistakes and getting into poor covering positions. Overall they're not a standout team in the new modern game and I think they'll struggle once they get out of their group. Still at least it does seem that the referees are on their side so far ;)

I'd say forget the free plane offer completely. The only people losing out then are those who didn't contribute to the KS at all anyway so there's no obligation to them. They're three iconic birds and if done well will sell well. Given what ED will be putting into this project I don't see any reason why non backers should get free stuff. I don't even know why $1 backers get three flyables but that's what was agreed so will have to be stuck too.

Maps with modern flight sims have greatly increased in complexity. A team will be required to make a good quality map in Edge. There's terrain, period 3D objects, artwork, etc. all to be modelled initially as they won't exist in any early SDK release. I think you're vastly underestimating the amount of work that will be involved and skill sets required to release a good quality map. ED and RRG have (or had) whole teams of professionals dedicated to this process. It's not going to be any different for us.

Wouldn't expect any SDK until after Edge has been fully released and bedded in as part of 1.30. We'll find out more in due course. Veao also plan to look at maps but they've said they're in the same position as us. For us users to put a map together in edge us going to be a lot of work and would likely require a project team to collaborate. If you're eager to get started the first step would be to gather that team together and start drafting out roles and responsibilities, figure out what map to do, get real life plans, etc. There's a lot of ground work that should start now in advance of any SDK release.

This whole thing is just sad and disappointing. There's always time to knock out a quick update every 2 weeks even if it's just a we did x, y and z. By not doing it he's losing goodwill all over the place and jeopardising any future KS campaigns he'd like to run. He's obviously enthusiastic about the project but clearly severely lacking in the common sense department.

Looks like it's broken at the back of the canopy so tilting low at the front. Still looks like it'll be tight though!

ASM = clickable pits so the quote is actually correct

Most project managers under-estimate - particularly with the first major projects they handle. Task times are under-estimated, not enough buffer for contingency, etc. Then the unknown unknowns always crop up as well and before you know it you're months past when it was supposed to be done despite all your best intentions and no lack of effort. Been on more than one of those projects myself. It might seem a relatively simple task to estimate but really it's not unless you build in a lot of contingency though this never seems to go over well with the customer and senior management :music_whistling:

Sabre, Hawk & Mig-21 will be all first day buys for me. As will be any of the Warbirds made by VEAO. Plus their Tucano. I'll be playing from debtors prison this time next year.

It does. Didn't bother the USAF as they wanted to be found given their numerical superiority.

Friday April 25, 2014 Development Update – Taking Flight
Foul Ole Ron replied to luthier1's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
+1 Merlin. If he just did an update every 2 weeks that was honest there'd be no shortage of good will. People can handle delays so long as things keep moving forward and we get there at some point. There's always 30 minutes in 2 weeks to knock out an update. -
Question - Fw 190 Progress Update?
Foul Ole Ron replied to Krupi's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Hopefully we'll see the beta then sometime soon based on Yo-Yo's comments. Going to make for some fun online fights while we wait for DCS WW2 to come along. -
Question - Fw 190 Progress Update?
Foul Ole Ron replied to Krupi's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Last update from Yo-Yo a couple of weeks ago was that the engine, prop and main systems were all done (bar some minor tweaking) and that they were moving on to tweaking the aerodynamics. I'd guess they're still in that stage. An ETA would be nice but don't think we're going to get one until they're fully sure they can hit it. -
Great news about the Dora. Any time you guys wanted to release to beta and layer the tweaks and tuning in over time would be fine by us I'm sure :)
-
So, ah, any news maybe coming on this one? Poor Krupi will have a stroke if this beta doesn't arrive sometime soon...

Friday April 25, 2014 Development Update – Taking Flight
Foul Ole Ron replied to luthier1's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Looks like good steady progress over the past few weeks. The 109 pit is looking great. Looking forward to flying in it! -
Nonsense article. Saying that DCS WW2 is starting to look increasingly like vapourware is complete nonsense.

questions from Luthier on the 190
Foul Ole Ron replied to 9.JG27 DavidRed's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
The FW190 is an ED project not RRG. Though it seems that RRG are involved in the whole process. Wouldn't hurt to have posted the link here but it belongs in the ED section of the forum. -
So you acknowledge that you know nothing about what went on behind the scenes, that you know nothing about what business contracts were signed between the parties and that your only source of information comes from the ever reliable source of an internet forum. And summing up all your raft of information you then make the logical leap to the potentially libelous claim that what happened is theft. Brilliant work there. Don't you think that if Beczl was the legal sole owner that there would be absolutely nothing stopping him from shutting down the project? As the project is going ahead he legally must not have been and whatever disagreement there was has been settled through discussion.

Steam Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and Steam Specific Issues
Foul Ole Ron replied to ShaZe88's topic in Steam Support
You might have to briefly start the DCS World download on Steam to get the key. It doesn't seem to be possible to retrieve the key until you kick off the download (or at least I didn't see it). You can pause the Steam download right away, get the key then and paste into DCS World when asked for the activation. -
I wouldn't get a bank loan - a 24 month loan from a bank for say 1500 EUR would cost you about 15%. That 220 odd EUR could buy you e.g. rudder pedals instead of lining the bank's pockets. If you can't get a 0% purchase plan from a store that you can definitely pay in the purchase plan timeframe I'd just be patient and save up the required amount.
