  4. Hi sir, Since you seem to know a lot, i'll ask you, what should i do when this happens? I did my mission in Persian Gulf, so pretty hot, starting HOT Aircraft around 20 000 AGL for Air/Air traning, and after a few mintues this comes on. What should i do since it's way too technical for me, i end up doing stupid stuff like turning Ptot on, Engine Heat On, and most Heat i can find even the defogger cuz i love to hear the sound raise tune :P in other words i have no clues at all what i am doing and i want to know how to fix it. Thanks!

I was trying to find spinning and holding pattern speed to adjsut my thing, becauset, my thrill is not just the pattern (launch, get 600 ft, get in downwind and trop), when i do Carrier training, i love taking off from the Cats, do my 20ish AoB for 20 deg, then back to carrier's bearing, below 500 ft until 2.5 nm (7 nm is way too long training, i'm too impatient to land and when online on public servers, 2.5 nm is enough to leave space to others in the pattern or breaking) i then turn 350 kts up to 1,200 to mimick spinning and end up 5 nm downind, then start my descent when ship is 30 deg passed me and manage to end up at 800 ft at 3 nm behind the ship and going in for the break around 0.2-0.3 nm offset fromt he ship's portside, trap rinse and repeat, sometimes i do the alternates, climb to 2,000 ft at 250 kts and mimick descent from the Pattern. Not sure if i do it properly, but i do from the info i found, so this chart is awesome for me. The combination of all stages and getting where you want to be when you want it, when you get to achieve it, is so cool, even though i do not succed all the time and might not do it properly. But i'm training to be steady in my turn, speed, boring training for many, but i just love it.

Sad. :( On my side i never encoutered any problem, as forces of habit i always selected the Carrier's in the group to set the Tacan, well to be honest, the Carrier was always the number one unit and alwayss elected unit #1, maybe that's why i never had what you had. Only time i had issues with Tacan was when i logged onto Apex server, for some reason once in a while the Tacan was just not registering and spining around. :)

No matter the combination, wind direction etc... if it's wind or carrier's speed, over 24 kts it does this from last test i'Ve made, this is why my carrier's speed is around 22-23 kts and more likley no wind on lower level or maybe just 1-2 kts and works fine. EDIT: To be more precise, my carrier is going 23 kts, heading 270 with a 3 kts wind (at 33fà ft) blowing at 080. And no issues, i've tested it to set it the fastest it can go cloae to 27 kts, without the issue occuring and 23 kts was the safest setup i'Ve seen.

Then i am confused, cuz Naelis said selecting the Unit worked for him, not the group. :) EDIT: Actualy it does work, but only on carriers, if you make a group of 3 ships, 1 Stennis, 1 Tarawa and 1 Vinson, all 3 can have each a tacan, maybe the other ships just didn'T had it made it to yet though as only those 3 ships appears on the drop down menu on the Advanced Waypoint Actions in the Activate Tacan.
  11. They just didn't think for the Hornet only, but Helicopters can also benefits from a Tacan to land on a ship with Helipad in the Carrier's Battle Group. so they want a Tacan to the Ship, not the carrier i presume. i think.
  12. It was mentionned in the changelog that a different tacan can now be attributed to each units in a group. ME. Ships. TACAN can be assigned to exact ship, not whole group.

    I'd say right DDI for sure, since lots of videos we find are recording TGP/Sniper Pods on right DDI, i wouldn't want it on left DDI with Cautions Warning appears on the Bottom of the DDI screen and altering what i am looking for as i slew around the Pod, as for MPCD even if you can, i wouldn't ever use it on the MPCD, i wouldn't find practicle and safe to look down at the bowel of the Hornet to find targets at least on DDI's you can move the eyes around and still see what's going on outside the cockpit, and most, to press the OSB'S the pilot would have to bend over or move around his head to look around the flightstick. As for the release time, i'D say, not fast enough :) But we are all waiting for it.
  14. Thanks, that was the two evasive info i couldn't put my hands on. So i ended up doing 350 kts for the spin as it's the speed we are going when in for the break, and 250 kts for the pattern as you don't wanna turn too fast i presume. But ended up going 350 kts as well cuz i was getting too impatient to do my break lol
  15. Brilliant! Thanks for making this! :) One thing though, that i'Ve been wondering since the Hornet came out and was so hoping to find answer on that awesome chart... Holding Pattern and Spinning speed... 350 kts or 250 kts?
  16. Greetings guys, I'm trying to use Uboats app to generate a description.lua from the AV-8B Cockpit .edm file, but can'T, makes the app crash, same as the M-2000c. Anyone having the proper software to generates al the lines from the cockpit's .edm file, is nice enough to give me the codes for the maps uses in it please? Appreciated.
  17. Awesome, thanks! Small question, the app crash to desktop trying to extract the AV8B cockpit .edm, any work around for this? Seems both modules from RazBam does this, the Harrier and Mirage.
  18. Agreed you always have it a bit darker where both glasses overlaps, thats why in my mod i left the smalest glass a bit darker. What i am starting to wonder now is, there's a few models of HUD Glass for Hornet's model produced or whatever, as they maybe realised it was too dark and affect the view and came up with smoother tint ones which we see on most videos and pictures and ED got a references of an older one, dunno, but most of them are clear and a few ones as your videos, again lights depends i guess but still. As you can see in my video passed 11:00 for the rolling, the tint is not that noticable, somtimes yes when over the clouds and light background, not that that purpleish and mostly caused by the smalest glass overlaping the longest one, but again sometimes it lighter sometimes it's not, depends on the light reflection, which is not that implemented in DCS ending up with a always dark view. Anywas my mod wasn't to argue with ED'S job or make them tune it down, but simply to help people having issues like me with it by tuning it down, if they wanna keep it that way, at least we have mods as alternatives, which is the first mod i'Ve made that in less than 12 hours, it's already being downloaded 161 times, which says it all. Not all effects are reasy to reproduce in Sim, specialy when it comes to glass, windows, it always looks like transparent, too clean, or darker, got to say the Hornet's canopy got me freaking out with the result specialy in VR. :)

Pretty much a pain to redo it all with all the triggers, flags, triggers area to transfer, all the sounds needs to be readded in the triggers, the text messages etc... that's when i told myself, well, it's in the middle of the sea, doesn't matter where i stand for the work involved. I presume they made it in Caucasus as to make sure everyone can get it as no terrain module is required.

  21. So far i'Ve only did one for the Hornet and M-2000c, but i can see what i can do for the Harrier.
  22. Don't take me wrong man, it's by far my favortite DCS module ever and, any flight Sim aircraft i'Ve flown aince F-15 Strike Eagle on my old 486. And not too often i do get to hate something on a module i usualy bear with it. But the HUD has my head scratching. So if you can, yes, please do verify physically, because no matter the pictures i find on the net, all Hornet's HUD look half less tinted at least not that dark purpleish effect. Because doesn't make sens to zoom in the HUD to see stuff being blocked by the darkness of the HUD. I cannot argue DCS versus the real thing besides pictures as, unfortunetaly i cannot remember the only time i sat in a Hornet was in 2015 and the HUD was not turned on, so i didn'T look through it as i was more busy looking at the panels and stuff around :) though i rememeber when i was in the CC-177 Globemaster III a few hours before and the HUD was runing this time, i know it' a F-15 HUD, but still wasn't that dark at all when i'm looking at the picture i took in the cockpit. Actualy 3 pictures i've found was darker and all 3 taken from the same moment which is a bit dark but not as much as DCS, most of them are not and i made a search for « hornet cockpit view » and « f-18 HUD » as Google Search if you wanna see what i see, you can clearly see most of them are way less dark, specialy the ones from point of view on the side of the pilots head. In other words, if it'd be that dark in RL, all pictures we'd Googled would be that dark, i can't explain why 95% of them are not as dark as this if it's supposed to be that dark, and we can slightly see the tint or the reflection of the projector glass module horizontal to the HUD's glass, but no way close to that weird purple color we got now. In real life the sun light or light source could be affecting it, but in DCS, it's ALWAYS dark , no matter where you look or where the sun is coming from, i rather have it a bit less realistic like i do with my mod, then being unable to properly fly a $ 60 module i paid for. If all most of us needs to zoom in VR or zoom in in Non-VR too see properly targets and stuff through the HUD, the realism barrier already being breached as they don't zoom in real life too see by leaning over their eyes 1 inch from the HUD as close as their HUD Cam is, which is i am sure, lots of us do now. Got to remember in DCS vs RL, it deals with hundreeds of diffrent minitor screens and 2 major VR headsets all this based on a few of people making the effect and how their monitor was set, the room ambient lights etc... I leave you on this thought, we already have issue too see as is, let's try to imagine with Sun Visor being down as well. Or is it always down without us knowing it? Anyways, your comments, advise and help are always appreciated, you're a good Adition to the DCS community. :)
  23. All right guys, here's my updated mod, thanks to Skatezilla to point me in a direction to make this more efficient and smaller file size. File is being updated. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3301130/ TO INSTALL: File structure made for OVGME, point the files in your DCS Saved Game folder. Files need to be installed in: ...\Saved Games\DCS\Liveries\ TO LOAD THE MOD: go in Options, Special Tab, Click on F/A-18C Icon, then Choose from the Drop Down Menu, you will have two Default Cockpit lievery in the list, due to a bug it won't be working if another name then Default is being used for now, simply select the second one which is the created/loaded in Saved Game.

There you go Skatezilla, found a work around, also works in Saved Game as you showed me, but only if, you name the lievery Default as well, so when you go in Options, Special Tab, Click on F/A-18C Icon, then Choose from the Drop Down Menu, you will have two Default skin, you take the second one which is the one created in Saved Game.. but you change the name to something else and it won't load the textures.
