It's an early acess, give them time specialy for new effect, we all have this issue when we are on carrier deck with wing folded and parked, but we live with it for now, as most of the time i'm in the cockpit and don't see it. So yess i'm sure they'll fix it all and adjust effect triggers.

[ALREADY REPORTED] How do I use true and magnetic north settings
Doum76 replied to AMVI_Grape's topic in Bugs and Problems
I'd say it's a heading carret bug, because watch in your video, as the Carret on your HUD changes, your WPT and TCN heading on your HSI keeps showing 003 deg. -
You know what, just do a pattern, once you get Abeam to the Ship, pause the game, take a screenshot angled looking at the ship and partly your HUD so we see things, or jsut as you'Re about to roll in for you 180, then do anotehr screenshot as you turn so we see your HUD and angle as you turn, with image it'll be easier to help, and no tracks, since tracks are pretty much broken for now when using a Carrier. This wil help more, cuz for now you get so many replies and will end up getting more confused as to do or not, but persoanly as i turn, i am most likely 1.1 nm from the ship when i get downwind, which gives me a 180 turn 27-30 AoB until i roll out on the groove, if i pass the 1.2 nm i then need to turn with a less steep AoB if not i'll come out in the groove too short and over 1.1 nm i need to adjsut my turn, while at 1.1 nm i can keep a steady 27ish AoB. and 1.1 nm when i cross the ilsland/tower. But remember, ocne you get in the 90, you should start looking more often at the ship with your other primary eye checks and adjsut your turn, if you see you're about to overshoot 1/4 nm, then just bank more and compensate with throttle to avoid the sink.

One small details as well but can always affect.... What speed is your carrier set to? Is there any Wind set moving over deck besides the Carrrier's speed? if you try on carrier moving 11-16 kts like on Aerobatics Online and some crosswinds over deck added to the equation, numbers will always be an issue when learning, once you'Re get used to it and learned the height you need to be and where, you can adjust with visual reference but for learning the proper pattern, this affect a bit, siince all the numbers being setup with an over deck wind of 25-30 kts....

The question is, are they really still working on it? From the changelog thread, been 6 patches we didn'T get much form the Harrier, besides 2 times not working KC-135BDA updates. Haven'T seen pretty much really updates since a while, i presume their F-15 and all new projects gets them more busy than completing a module far from being completed, after all, they got the money from us already. Maybe one day the Harrier will get the INS working and able to add waypoints on the UFC...wait, Hornet has it already. ;) As much as i loved the Harrier, it went in the shadow of the Hornet, not only because it'S my favorite aircraft ever, but because, lots of major system are implemented. If you wanna have fun flying around with a difference system and learn VTOL, this is a fun one. Before may 30 i would had said, grab it, it's my favorite module, it was.

lol Yeah tell me about it, so many tiems i hop in the Hornet, look down and tel myself « Damn man, you lost quite some weight there ! » Need to say when i take off my Rift i say « Damn dude, you got fat ! » :P

On my side... After waiting for a F/A-18 Hornet or Superhornet to get in DCS since i discovered the Sim in late 2010, i'd say as long as the Hornet only stays in Open Beta, i'll stick to Open Beta. :)

Let's not complain about our guys on the ground unable to multi-task, they can repair a mostly all destroyed aircraft in less than 3-4 minutes even when it's running (I'd call this multi-tasking), wanna see in RL?. :P I think they are pretty well competent and trained. :P

I know it's pretty far on the bottoms list of interesting things. But since the last time Logbooks had some improvement lots of babies went from swiming in a dady's balls up to finish highschool. :) A nice logbook that would also log Multiplayer flying time would be awesome, i presume it requires lots of data thingy and complicated stuff as it never been able to. :(

The funniest things with VR is when flying with others using it, like when going in HoT and hearing each others « arghh,, ohhh » as you try to turn around your shoulders to look back :)

The only issues in VR at niight (no NVG) is the carrier's light are a bit touh to see due to resolution limitation, but i did it once and landed perfectly :)

Happens to me once in a while, specialy when i go online, like my memory gets saturated, but on my side, after quitting DCS and restarting it it fixes it. I'd freak out if it was always like this as you seem to have. :(

There is an issue on the Manifest file to point the game, which is causing this, i fixed it, but when i reinstalled my Oculus a few days ago, forgot to backup all my manifests, so it's gone, but i cantry to find the link back for it ont eh forums. Only thing i never was able to is create an icons, i never worked and only tutorial found was to make it on Steam which i don't use. EDIT: sometimes my memory is so bad, it was from one of my thread on the Oculus forum that someone gave me the tips, here's the Quote. « Home sometimes creates shortcuts that don't work properly for unknown source games, the cause seems to be that it adds unnecessary launch parameters which stop the game launching. My Steam version of DCS wouldn't launch until I edited its .json file to the below. Basically it just meant deleting the text between the quotation marks after launchParameters. This should work for non-Steam-unknown-source games too, as it did for my No Limits 2 game. My Steam folder is on my D drive so change the location to wherever your game is installed or just delete the launchParameter text between the quotes as described. {"canonicalName":"D_ProgramFiles(x86)_Steam_steamapps_common_DCSWorld_bin_DCS","displayName":"DCS World","files":{"D:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\DCSWorld\\bin\\DCS.exe":""},"firewallExceptionsRequired":false,"isCore":false,"launchFile":"D:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\DCSWorld\\bin\\DCS.exe","launchParameters":"","manifestVersion":0,"packageType":"APP","thirdParty":true,"version":"1","versionCode":1} These json files are located in the Oculus/Manifests folder. & the icons are located in the Oculus/Software/StoreAsssets folder. »

Got to admit the default shelter they use is ugly, that why i changed it for the better resoltution shelter model, way better. Great job BTW. Only reason i eprsonal leave shelters is, the fact we can'T add water so you get the sorta flat artificial fake horizon you get in ModelViewer. :( Try to add some clouds man, it's give a bit more depths. I only so far enabled the Cirrus line, becase i was having trouble with the clouds line. sceneAPI:setCirrus(true)

To be honest man, the tiny times and small items i can'T read, would never beat the immersion and feeling i get in VR even wit it's limited resolution, no way i'd return with my Track IR, and trying to fly while seing my room's window up my screen and my cat laying around on my desk on my right and my old AM/FM radio on my other desk. :) As for instrument most of them you can read not bad, but most of improtant stuff are on the HUD, for the planes i fly, ok some instruments are hard, but after a while you get used to after using VR Zoom to know where stuff needs to be, IE, altimeter on the Hornet, i know where the needles needs to be to be set on either 450 ft or 370 ft, i don't need to see the numbers sharp anymore cuz i know the scale, most DDI's are not that bad, got to say that in the Gazelle it's a different story, hard but, will never beat the feeling of flying it in VR. I rather spent a $529 and experience it, than wait another 2-3 years and have to spend $1,000 on a new VR and absolutely need to replace my computer for it for another $2,000. As for the ball as others says, after doing lots of landings, you get to understand where the ball is, as when you get closer, the ball gets sharpen, so after a while you brain get used to understand at a certain spot the glow light represents being too high or too low, i now have no issue to understand where the ball is before i even get in the groove. The balls is pretty clear at the distance you need to fly it, before that when not used to, numbers are a cue, if you're 300 ft at the 90 which should be around 450, you don't need a ball to tell you you'Re too low, if you cross the wake at 450, don't need a bal to tell you you'Re too high as you ned to be about 370 ft. TO be honest after quite many and many landings, your brain can anticipate anyways where you need to be, as you get used to know where your FP marker needs to be on the deck to be on ball, as you turn your 180 or most your 90, you know where about your FP marker needs to be on roll out. As for targets, i do agree, it's of course more tricky, but most of the time a second of VR zoom fix it, only issue with the Hornet is the fact the default HUD is way too dark, specialy on darker moments of the day when sun is not shinning, but after turning down the effect a bit int he files it fixes it a lot and helps. I'm wearing glasses, so for me not having a perfect sight in DCS is adding more realism :) I would have freaking hard time to spot a tank on the ground from 10 000 ft away, i guess. :) Dunno if you ever tried it, but if not, once you try it, it'll haunt you until you get one, i tried at a friend 2 years or so ago, and wanted to wai a better one, but a few months ago, i couldn'T wait any longer, specialy when the Hornet is my favorite bird ever, no way i would ever fly it in non VR, and i don'T regret the $529, but again if your only interest in VR is DCS, it's a different story maybe.

I can imagien the pilots grabbing some Advil or Tylenol after the routine. :)
-
Damn, the should swap this for a circle instead of a square, so it'll stay circle no matter they bank angle we get. :P
-
Interesting, first time i see a Hornet/Super Hornet demo pilot, pulling negative g's (1:53 or so) got to say i'm mostly used to see CAF/ARC CF-18 Demo routine or USN's.

Until FC3 aircrafts are taken out of DCS you will always get those gamers on here, so they expect all aircraft to be as easy or like FC3 Birds.
-
Just edit the LUA and put anything, when you'll load DCS it'll find an error in the LUA and load a blank grey screen. :P But other than that, i duno. :)

Interesting, but this guy's main concern is Carrier and Hook, to flare with a hook would be non-sens.

Nice, they read my mind :P
