i personaly find it ****ing awesome in VR, makes the division between invisible not existing canopy in video game versus feeling something, this is one of the few details i pesonaly thing spread the fake video game sim than relity. I only think it should be tuned down a bit, now it looks like sctaches as you tkae your key and grave the glass, but the effect they wanted to achieve i think is more like the same effect you get on your car when it's due for a wax treatment on the paint, you see the sort wethering effect looking like spider webs reflecting the sunlight, it's should be sorta trnasparent and less opaque, but i would never want those being taken off. :) Maybe jsut tuning down the ALpha Chanel masking it or duno how it's applied, but tuning them a bit to be less opaque

As well, not sure with the AV-8B, but if i am not mistaken, on some aircraft the course line is still there, but sorta caged on the side when far off from the course and when closing in it starts moving back toward the center, but now it simply disapear, so no way to intercept it or going perpenticular to it to intercept.... When i first tried 2.5.1 i was on a public server and the closest waypoint was so far, i thought i was doijg something wrong cuz i never seen any course line, then decided to log single player with one of my mission with the Waypoints closer, and it was working, but flying away made it totaly go away from the EHSD FoV. Might be interesting to see references? I might be totaly wrong as well.

DCS 2.5 and VR (Occulus Rift would be my choice)
Doum76 replied to Doum76's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm pretty much happy with my Rift for now, been backing up for about 2 years to make the VR jump and decided a few weeks ago and i'm freaking out, even though better gear is coming out and blablabla, i'm happy with it, it's even with this setup 50 times better than screen+TrackIR :) i ratehr have less resolution now but being in VR than better res and not having it. -
DCS is so weird, i'm running around 45 FPS single and 25-30 fps multi-player with close to all high settings in DCS, this is with my i7-2600 stock, not OCed and EVGA 1070oc 8g, not much difference with your recent rig vs my 6-7 years old system, so odd. EDIT: Did the NVDIA adjusment in the setupp as shown on first page of this thread, and i'm about 45 dps even in MP now... still weird some people with most recent and stronger systems are having issues.....

DCS 2.5 and VR (Occulus Rift would be my choice)
Doum76 replied to Doum76's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well, Rift has arrived two dasy ago. It runs not that bad after all, i would expect way worste. Lots of high setings, some low, mirrors off, shadow medium, texture, water highest it can, cockpit ilum. on, full anistrop., MSAA 0 and i get average 45 DPS, still a lot more than what i ran over years with my old GTX 760, ltos of low settings and i was getting average 25 FPS, so now i got double, lots of hihest settings but most, in VR. I'm sure getting the CPU OC would help a lot, but i ain't gonna risk to fool around with this. :) -
It'S fine indeed, but i personaly rather use DCS one, which at least has voice, adds a bit to immersion and not like CTLD that keeps lasing no matter what, acting like just pressing F10 and droping bomb that keeps being lased no matter what. but that's my opinion, i usualy use it only when DCS one is bugged. Using CTLD feels more like a video game, drop bomb and be 500% it'll be on target, no « what if i released too late, i'm gonna miss target » i wouldn't even be surprised you could even drop the bomb looking 90 degrees away from your CCRP vertical line and CCRP release queue never showing and your GBU-12 would still be on target.

Of course :) Lots of stuff will change when this bird comes alive with it's all new ffeatures to the game engine. But for now what i want is, this Harrier with TACAN and Hires Tarawa, the other variants can wait :P
-
Speaking of Vegas, imagine, with the Harrier you can reproduce True Lies scene, hovering hover the Trumb Tower in Vegas and shoot windows :P
-
a friend has read, never asked hm where, that in upcoming future the Harrier might gets a radar and aim-120, so more likely the AV-8B Harrier II Plus variant. But again no sure references, but i wouldn't surprise. But for now, there is so many stuf left to be done on this one, let's just focus and dream about the AV-8B N/A being complete. :)

Try my not-fancy mission but it's my own little playgroudn when i wanna trian, all is working, try it out to see. Both done in 2.5 OB and resaved as 2.5 full version, which still is the same version now. Here's the link for them linked in another thread. https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=182178&d=1523100351 https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=182179&d=1523100351

DCS 2.5 and VR (Occulus Rift would be my choice)

Nerver thought about looking for this, you are just awesome man, thanks! EDIT: damn, after seing the prices, i presume i'll go with a guys cheapest solution, he has 3-4 options with different cost, i guess i,ll be using the cheaest one as a start, using Nerf Darts on each side as a spacer to space up the gap of the glasses frames from the rift lens, so both lens sets doesn't touch. -
No issues on my side at all, even when using Assign Group, just make sure you're using an HMMWV TOW, as for comms for now i'm using EASY COMM in menu since AV-8B radios are not working if i am not mistaken, so doesn'T change much. In any cases, if you are using 2.5, here my two main mission i use, nothing fancy, just do what i want to do when i fly. but it'll give you an exemple of simple JTAC setup. One mission for NTTR and one for Caucasus, try it and see if it works, if it doesn'T work, there's might be an issue on your side. Hope it'll help. CAUCAS_TRAIN_0218.miz NEVADA_TRAIN_0218.miz

DCS 2.5 and VR (Occulus Rift would be my choice)
Doum76 replied to Doum76's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
1st, i've read Vive is better yep, but Oculus was better at lower lower performance/ lower res/FPS, which for now is my case with my old i7-2600, second, oculus is cheaper, third from al i read Oculus is more confortable for people wearing glasses and third, i tried Oculus and know it, Vive i never, so i rather not gamble a almost 200$ more bucks for something i havent tried. -
On my side, had no issues last night with AGM-65S on 2.5 Beta, and downloaded and installed 2.5 Full version this morning, jsut tried it, and 3 GBU-12 on target.
-
Well not surprising, let's not forget Harrier are old granpas and mostly first Jump Jets... gotta give Granpa's stil thumbs up for what he can do :) While F-35 are young bold teenagers flashing out their stuff. :) But grandpas is more sexy :)
-
To be honest, now, if i get more SSD (own now for my windows SSD a 250g Kinston which filled fast with system only and sone softwares and one for al my toehr sutff and mainly game a Sansung 850 EVO 1T, and to be honest with constant grwing size of stuff, i wouldn't never buy new SSD below 500g... but that's my own opinion. I regret now rushing out and not wait and buy a 250g only.

Occulus ordered last night. We shall see how it goes whne i get it :) -
On a les technical reply reply, i'd say is more a own personal choice and what yourself like better, more A/A and some A/G, more A/G and for now limited A/A as with the A-10C (Until variant for A/A comes in a distant future), you prefer european style aircraft or more North American style aircraft, even though British has it etc.., if you like based land aircraft only or naval aircrafts, supersonic matters or not, hability to be able to land/take-off in normal and conventional ways or having 4 possible different ways as take-off and land... conventional aircraft or VTOL which is alone a blast. Advenced modeling or Early Access and don't mind to wait. So as personal choice, even way in early acess, on my side i prefer the AV-8B, but for my own choice, i'm a Naval Aircraft lover and i love Helicopters, so, for me, the AV-8B is my fav module so far, not to mention i don't realy like Delta Wings, ok it has advantages in A/A, which i don't really like for now. And since an upcoming module has been my fav aircraft ever, this little Harrier in some points reminds me of that aircraft (module i an't gonna name in this forum section). And the most important reason.. it's sexy :) Just bare in mind, the AV-8B need a bit of learning to fly though, that's what i loved about VTOL and Helicopter, challenge. :)

Greetings guys, Not sure if i should post here or DCS general for this question. Since now i only fly the AV-8B, can't remember how it worked with the A-10C, been about 5 years i haven't fly the thing and as for the M-2k, i haven'T much used the In-Game JTAC when i was flying it about years ago cuz there was issue with the JTAC... So here'S my question, is there a way to reaquire the lasing from a JTAC without restarting all over, i mean, chck out and check back in, or make an unable to comply.. i mean, since i'm still learning how to use the Mavericks, once in a while, i mess up the commands or do stuff to fast, for exemple, i aquired laser, uncage Mavericks, then i miss-select IRMV and i'm on INS, so when i press TDC down to lock with the Maverick, my aquired target from the JTAC laser is lost and i target a useless spot where my FPM is pointing, and tadam, even if i deselect target wwith NWS button and head back with LST, laser painting is gone, can'T require it.... For this exemple i'm using DMT only, no TPOD. So anyway to get the JTAC to re-lase, wounder if with the A-10C for exemple you can reslect the laser painting, or it's with the AV-8B in eraly-acess that eventualy it will re-spot an active laser? Thanks

Awesome video RED, thanks for sharing. Wounder why i never find those kind of videos when i search them myself :) Second video, the bird must had been heavy as **** :) , 110%RPM+ and almost full hexagon, wouldn't want the bird tp drop on my foot. But glad to see, without knowing i do the same when i take off, raise nozzle up when airbord to avoid the high climbing before reaching the runway threashold. Again great videos man.

Nice trick. Indeed, perfection is hard to achieve, as long as i'm concerne, i did lots of progress and got to agree, abeam states 0.8 nm-1 nm and i was 1.1 nm, i admit and guilty i was a few hundreeds feet further away (i blame my pen falling from my kneepad and had to find it int he cockpit as i turned to avoid the ground crew the needs to take off the entire ejection seat to find it :), i'm still so used to break with the SuperBug in another flight sim and end abeam around 1-1.5 NM, still got to adjust a few things to this awesome module RAZBAM made :) My trimming is mostly done a lot while i break with trimming inputs entered as speed bleeds, so when i level up downwind 98% of the trimming is done i just need to adjust a bit but i always leave some nose down, same as refueling, easier to deal with it than going up with throttle input. as for the angle i admit i'm having trouble keeping a straight 10-12, i aim between 9-10 units AoA instead of 10-12 as stated, need to adjsut this. But again i wasn't aiming for pefection turotial in the video, but more likey trying to show that the bubble up effect can be counter and avoid and managing nozzle, throttle, trim, gear, flaps and water al together can be done, just need pratice, which i am still at doing and the more i try the more i have respect for RL Harrier pilots. :) As for the turn post abeam, i more or less counted 4 second passed abeam since the carrier is going around 11 knots, if i remembered from the NAVAIR says to delay 2 to 4 seconds, but again i have memory issues i could totaly do that wrong :) Need to buy myself some RAM for my old brain :) One day i'll be good enough to earn some Plastic wings to glue up to my screen :) :pilotfly: As for the TACAN you are totaly right, i'll then be able to take away all the ships in formation with the carrier to align myself easier from a distance when landing up after a mission and to counter the ships wake a bit hard to see on my system. Gotta do with what we have :)
-
Totaly agree, STO Stop is really helpful, makes my Short and Rolling Vertical Take-Off easier now. :)

It's actualy between 50 and 60, depends i presume how heavy or light you are, how wind is etc.. for exemple, when i'm light, i go around 50, if i drop to 60 it slows me way too much, if i'm heavier, i go 60, to help slow down a bit and counter the weight requires more thrust when getting on hover states. The following vid is not perfect, far from it, but that is how i do it, can'T remember where or in which document i'Ve read it, since i'Ve read quite a few on the AV-8B when i bought the module i got mssed up from all the guides, but i drop nozzles to 25 as i make the break, read to drop nozzles to at least 25 deg prior to drop flaps to STOL, and also helps slowing down and avoid bubble effect, so when i'm downwind, i'm close to 200 knots, 25 nozzle, so i can drop gear, flaps to stol and focus throttle... i then slowly drop nozzle to 50-60 so by the time i'm abeam, i'm already set, and no surprises as i turn... sometimes i either give a tiny too much throttle so nose lifts more than i want and gain more than 600 ft as i get read for the turn, or like in this situation, i went a bit too light on throttle and droped a bit... my turn for the 90 or base leg, is slow and not that banked angle, wanna aviod giving in too much throttle and gain speed and not sinking too much... still have issue on that part... so i usualy get about 450-460 when i get at the 90, aim around 300-350 for when i get in the groove, i turn water on as i turn into to groove, again anticipating the possible lift from turning water on as RPM raises a bit.. and drop nozzle to hover state more or less 1,000ft-1,300ft from the carrier not to slow way too soon.... Not perfect, but sorta do the job in DCS as for early-acess for now... and as much as my skill permits me... but i'm getting better and controling the bubble effect or aircraft reaction when adjusting nozzles, thorttle, droping flaps, gears... and always try to be set before speed drops to 160 not to have the bubble up... Here's one of my so-so atempt:

Wasn'T sure about 1080 or even 1080TI and even 1070TI with my Mobo from what i'Ve read, so when teh guys told me at the store the GPU purchase was final and no exchange or returns unless broken, it scared me, so i went safe with a 1070 as lots of people on forums used it no issues with same motherboard and CPU i had.
