[REPORTED] Is the SC catapult end-speed/force correct?
obious replied to obious's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
That’s a bit more like it ;) Thanks -
What ever happened to these mounts and/or plans to sell the knobs etc? Thanks

Decksliding / Sync issues / Rubberbanding fixed for release?
obious replied to viper2097's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
Thanks for the info and tbh, I didn’t even think about the dropped/laggy connections. Has this been completely fixed for SP? -

Thanks for the update Nine but why does it have to be eliminated ‘by in large’. Why can it not just be eliminated? -
Should WINWING sell HOTAS seperately???
obious replied to WINWING's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
yup, all I need is the throttle! Have been waiting to purchase until it becomes available -
F/A-18 toggle switches - trying to confirm part numbers

This is awesome! thanks! -
Are you sure that the vertical walls are at a 54 degree angle? After putting in that value into my Fusion model, it seems very shallow
-
I think he means the vertical panels (that house the hook lever on the right and the gear/flaps switches on the left) are canted 54 degrees away from the consoles (when looking at a console from the side) and 30 degrees inboard? What drawings/diagrams are you referring to?
-
Awesome, thank you so much.

Hi All, Really quick question but does anyone know what angle the L&R consoles of the F-18c’s cockpit are? I’m talking about the side consoles on the L&R of the ejection seat. I think they’re angled around a 10 degree inclination towards the pilot/centre of the cockpit when looking at the back of the ejection seat towards the nose of the aircraft. Is anyone able to confirm and/or provide source documentation? Thanks

Can we create a dedicated ‘STL’ sub-folder/section under Home Cockpits?
obious replied to obious's topic in Home Cockpits
I don’t know have you’ve come to the generalisation that no one really likes supermarkets and I think you even contradict yourself by saying that they make peoples lives easier. Aside from the fact that thingiverse has a terrible search implementation and people share things that have nothing to do with flight sim home cockpits, it’s terribly slow. I really don’t know why the simply suggestion of creating a dedicated sub-folder here is a controversial idea. People not giving up their ‘kingdoms’ isn’t really a reason, I myself have shared a number of STL files recently that took me a long time to put together (as have numerous others on this forum) -
Thanks. Using an Anycubic Chiron and eSUN black PLA as I’m based in the UK and can’t get any of the good stuff folks in the US are using

I've finally managed to get around to 'finishing' this design (at least as much as I'm willing to put into it right now, I may revisit this at some point in the future). I've made some changes since the original images I shared. I've split the housing/mounting box into two to make it easy to print (and to reduce overall print time and print-failure risk) and completely redesigned the button backing/matrix to enable a more even button press feel and just generally make the design a little nicer. I've also designed some knobs that I think work well. Since a few of you asked, I've attached all the STLs in a zip to the original post. If you're feeling generous and would like to buy me a coffee for my effort, I've shamelessly created this link :) Also, if anyone is wiling to share feedback, I'm more than open; I'm not a professional 3D designer but I think the models (and even the prints) have turned out well so far. In case anyone asks why I created a button matrix instead of designing my own PCBs, the answer is purely down to time (more than willing to collaborate with someone on making this better by designing PCBs that tactile switches can then be soldered directly on to).

Hi All, After recently watching Wagg's Super Carrier launch video where he demonstrates how the new deck crew will direct you towards a catapult etc, I noticed that his' F-18's air speed at the end of shuttle stroke seemed very high (~200kts). Watching various documentaries over the years (PBS's 'Carrier', 'Speed and Angels' etc), there is a constant reference to around a 130-150kts end-speed (i.e. 'going from 0 to 1XX in Y.X seconds is payback for all the time spent in flight training' is one quote I remember hearing somewhere) coming off of the deck. I know there are going to be numerous variables that impact the speed the aircraft reaches at the end of the cat stroke (ambient temperature and density of the air, wind speed over the deck, aircraft weight etc) but my question/point is, should the F-18C in DCS (and I guess the F-14 also) be launching with a slower end-speed? I haven't done it in a while but I also remember doing an experiment a few months ago when I launched without adding any throttle and I didn't notice much of a difference in speed coming off the deck than if I were in mil power/afterburner. I guess my main point is that it seems a little bit too easy to launch and F-18C off the deck of the Stennis; can we expect a different experience with the SC? Thanks

Hi, I just tried the F-18C CASE III quick start mission and after contacting Mother (using quick comms), I noticed that the landing area lights didn't come on. All through heading into the break, entering the downwind and rolling out into the groove, the deck lights remained off. I've had a quick search of these forums and couldn't find a raised bug thread on the subject. Anyone else experiencing the same? Thanks
-
What part of anything I said makes you think I was asking for this right now? Also, I'd love to know how you quantified the inclusion of arrestor wire physics as adding 0.021% to someone's perception of immersion.
-
Just wondering if the SC will have any wire physics at all (thinking rag doll-esk), such as when an aircrafts hook catches a wire, general play and slop will be observed rather than just a straight line being drawn from where the cable enters the ship to the tail hook of the aircraft? Thanks

Hi All, Just a quick question, does anyone have any experience with the VPC ‘S’ flight extension? I have a T50 CM2 base and a 50mm extension and am wondering if the ‘S’ extension will change the behaviour/overall ‘feel’ of my T50 base. Anyone bought one of these and have any feedback? I’d be using it with the TM F-18 grip Thanks

Hi All, I'm simply wondering once the Supercarrier enters EA, will it be like any new module that's released in that you'll have a bunch of options from the Instant Action menu etc or will it have to be used via the ME? I'm suspecting it'll have to be used by placing it maps via the ME but was just curious if it'll get a little tab/square at the bottom like all other modules with its own wallpaper & theme music. Cheers!

Alternatives to using an endless amount of Leo Bodnar boards?
obious replied to obious's topic in Home Cockpits
You can rename the boards (or rather, you can increment the board numbers) using software on the site -
Decksliding / Sync issues / Rubberbanding fixed for release?
obious replied to viper2097's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
I’ve also noticed a great reduction in deck sliding recently, so much so that I was going to paste a new thread here about it (but then I forgot :) ). The carrier was however only going in a straight line and not turning -
Ha yes, if only I’d waited before posting, thanks!

Hi All, Does anyone know if there’ll be any documentation to support CASE I or case III recoveries by ED for the Supercarrier? Failing that, does anyone have any good links to any existing documentation/diagrams/pretty pictures that I can print out and add to my knee board? Thanks!

Sounds interesting but from Googling it, not sure how all those connections can be made?
