I raised a similar post a little while ago to which they released a ‘fix’ for although I didn’t see any change. After doing some experimentation recently, I launched a fully loaded F-18c in full AB (3 ext. tanks, two GBU-38s, two AIM-9X, ATFLIR & 1x AIM-120) off the Abraham Lincoln which in ME I set to be steaming 25kts into the wind and I consistently got around 200-220 knots coming off the bow. I even tried without any throttle and was only seeing around a ~10kts reduction in end speed Something just doesn’t seem right with the amount of force being applied to whatever aircraft is hooked up to the catapult.

Any updates on this? I just tried it to set trim to neutral after a double ugly load out but it doesn’t seem to do anything much at all

New dynamic canopy reflections for the hornet?
obious replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
+1 on this. The F-14’s canopy reflections/light refractions are awesome -
Looks like Vive are still in the mix..

I just gave the F-14A a drive today and thought exactly the same thing. Thank god you brought it up, I thought I was going insane as I was able to hear very faint beeping noises. Why in the world would this be included? So annoying!

[REPORTED] Is the SC catapult end-speed/force correct?
obious replied to obious's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
Just tried this again at the weekend. Launched a fully loaded F-14 (6xPH, 2xSP, 2xA9 & two external tanks) and I’m still getting to the end of the cat with around 200kts end speed -
I've noticed this problem as well. I'm using the Virpil CM2 base with a 1.5" extension and the VFX grip and notice that past about 5-10 degrees of roll input, the F-14 rolls very violently (almost disproportionally so) to the amount of stick input I'm giving. I'm trying to play around with the custom curves to make it less like I'm commanding full right/left bank once I go past a certain point on my physical stick but I haven't had much luck

What machine are people using to mill out their panels? I'm thinking of buying this but not sure if its any good?

Thats awesome, make sure to post some more pics along the way. Can I ask what you used to design the PCB and where/how you had it printed? Thanks!

Hi All, I’m in the midst of building ‘yet another’ F-18C Hornet cockpit but am looking to take the finish up a notch. So far, I’ve 3D printed the main components of the front panel (inc. UFC, DDIs, MPCD etc) but as I said, I’m looking to add a bit more realism to my build. To that end, I’m curious to know what laser etcher/engravers people are using and what software? I’m pretty handy with Fusion360 but I understand thats a 3D modelling tool and not great for 2D? Any help/pointers would be appreciated.

That’s awesome. What are you using to engrave/laser etch the Perspex?

Same, I feel my experience with the MFDs aren’t quite as sharp also

Just quick post, any update on the pilot body at all? Thanks

Can't go back using the litening.. ATFLIR all the way
obious replied to Mizrach's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Am I right in thinking that with the ATFLIR, we can now see where the pod is looking through a symbol in the HUD (much like in the Warthog))? -

Does anyone know how far the throttle is rotated at the top of the stem? I have a feeling it’s ~15 degrees downward but I can’t find any documentation online about it thanks

Nice PCBs, I’ve been looking to get started with designing then myself. Any tips on which application to use to design the schematic and where you have them fab’d? thanks

If you look at the footage here for the F-14, its as if the wire just sticks to the back of the Tomcat rather than the actual hook.

I have an Anycubic Chiron which I bought because of its big build plate. It’s incredibly easy to setup and produces great prints so well worth taking a look at

Hi All, First let me say that the below isn’t a criticism, I pre-ordered the Super Carrier the day it became available and think it’s a great addition to DCS World 2.5. As much fun as I’ve been having with it since it’s release into Beta last year, I can’t help but feel let down by the landing experience at touchdown. I guess my main point is that I feel like the instant a single wheel touches down the aircraft becomes ‘glued’ to the deck and doesn’t ‘bounce around’ as much as I feel it should. I know ED struggled to fix the deck sliding issues on the old carrier implementation and a reduced physics implementation is the price we paid for the fix? Couple that with the lack of arrest wire physics/animations and I’m starting to feel like (through lack of updates recently), the SC is just a prettier Stennis model with a great deck crew animation element. BTW I think the above is applicable to both the F-18 and the F-14 Am I mad or does anyone else feel the same? I was somewhat triggered to write this after watching Heatblur’s F-14 50th Anniversary tribute video which was awesome apart from the somewhat cringeworthy traps

obious replied to obious's topic in Home Cockpits
Interesting, I didn't even know these were a thing! I'll check them out, thanks!
