  1. Yeah, you sure told them. Hopefully they'll keep their pesky knowledge to themselves from now on.
  2. It's not an acronym. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/slew In this case, it refers to moving a cursor/crosshair/aimpoint around on the HUD (Head-Up Display) or MFCD (Multi-Function Color Display).
  3. With Crossfire, all displays plug into one GPU.
  4. Here ya go! Another version here. TM HOTAS Warthog Stick Layout.pdf TM HOTAS Warthog Throttle Layout.pdf
  5. So true! "Look over there, dammit! Oh, just give me the controls!" :joystick: Welcome Walking Dude - you'll find this community to be very supportive to new members. You're going to have a pretty sweet setup!
  6. I think things become significantly more difficult when it is pressed!
  7. I've looked through all of the documents I have, including this one, and none mention what "U" means. I've always understood it to mean "unknown" though.
  8. It was explained above.
  9. WHOA. First I've read of this. Can't wait to get my bricked throttle back!
  10. I like the saddlebags on the dash!
  11. My throttle just bricked after almost two years of faithful service. It has always been plugged into a powered hub which still functions and tests fine. Entering tech support phase now.
  12. It was the first hit on Google for me...
  13. Yup. I used to bring up the lase time issue in these topics (I even made a handy graphic to help explain it), but it has been made fairly clear by several far more knowledgeable forum members that it is indeed not as critical (if at all) when flying the hog. It seems that misses are more often a matter of a bad markpoint - ExHead's video is required viewing! That said, a lase time of 8-12 seconds from a release altitude of no less than @8,000ft (I prefer to stay at or above 12K) seems to yield reliably negative results for those on the receiving end.
  14. Anything's possible!
  15. Why not just look for yourself?
  16. Giant Bomb plays DCS A-10C Warthog:
  17. Still, it's a great tool for those unfamiliar with basic instrument navigation, as well as the initially confusing difference between course and heading and the effect of wind on such. I remember using this (an earlier version, anyway, pretty sure it was the same guy) back when I first got into flight simming with FS98.
  18. Yeah, you're right. It just feels more like a gain reduction to me, as I only switch it on when I am trying to track an object and I am only making very fine head movements/adjustments.
  19. Nor should you believe it. It's called "Precision" mode, default F11. Though I don't think smoothing has anything to do with it - it's just a gain reduction.
  20. Specifically, under "SENSORS".
  21. Not for nothing, but this isn't "most games." And I don't know of any flight simulator released in the last 20 years where KB/M would be "preferable over a joystick" or HOTAS. Sure, it isn't required, and you are clearly free to do as you please, and you will definitely need to use the keyboard a bit if you don't have a full HOTAS setup anyway, but the difference between flying with a stick or KB/M is akin to the difference between being immersed in the sim or practicing your typing. edit: All my opinion, of course, and predicated on the assumption that you are in SIM mode, not GAME mode.
  22. Damn, that was fast! *brofist*
  23. I use two Genovation Controlpads (basically the same thing as in the video, only smaller) with no problems. One is set up as my UFC and the other is a mix of non-HOTAS controls and F-keys. I use the Genovation software to set them up, which (for all I know) may be the only option with their hardware. You might run into problems trying to use two "normal" keyboards, unless the software can differentiate between the two.
  24. Clench and pray! For me, it is all about keeping my head outside the cockpit while constantly working the throttles (tweak your curves, as Leto mentions) and "stirring the stick". Once I take my attention away from the probe/tanker, I'm screwed, and a tanker is likely going down in flames. :joystick: Plenty of topics on this around with lots of good advice.
