  1. Hi - but what margin of improvement could I expect the following upgrades when using VR in DCS compared to my current 5800X system with the 3090 FTW3 Ultra card etc..: Option 1: The same 5800X system as per my sig but upgrading the GPU to an RTX 4090 Option 2. Intel Core i9 14900K, 32GB DDR5, 24GB NVIDIA RTX 4090, 64GB DDR 5 5600MHz Clearly option 2 will be much faster, but by how much and by what compared to Option 1?

    Selling My Setup

Hi - selling this still powerful setup as I am going to upgrade. Scan 3XS System bought in 2021: Water-cooled Ryzen 5800X + 32GB DDR 4 3200 RAM + EVGA 3090 FTW3 Ultra 24 GB + Add-on PCI-e 3.1 card No drive(s) included as I am migrating to them to the new machine - but the whole rest of the PC is included in this sale. System works perfectly and the nVidia card has never been overclocked / stressed. I would say it has had below average use. Open to reasonable offers. Would prefer collection - live in the West Berkshire area.
  3. Scratchpad is to DCS what a dishwasher is to the kitchen. Indispensable.
  4. Out of interest, is there any CPU hit with it?
  5. This is superb - works like a charm, thank you.
  6. Thank you!!!
  7. Thanks - the manual inputting is a real PITA.
  8. I might have missed it, but is there a quick way in-sim to get target co-ordinated into the Viper without the laborious inputting of numbers via the ICP? Hoping to have some quick mechanism from the map view.
  9. Update seems superb, MP a very smooth experience now. Great work all.
  10. Sorry to hijack - but is there a direct comparison with the HP G2 someone has done - image quality / performance etc ... and what specs they were running with both?
  11. Thank you all for your replies - was only thinking of the AV-8B in the Falklands within the capabilities that it has … ie no A2A etc apart from Aim-9s….could still be fun.
  12. Hi - been trying to find offline campaign and mission files for the Harrier in the South Atlantic map - focusing on the Falklands conflict ideally - but there seems nothing around, unless I've missed it? Would love to fly this combination as I am re-reading Sea Harrier Over The Falklands by Commander 'Sharkey' Ward.
  13. I am so sorry to read this - there will be many here thinking of you and wishing you the very best indeed.
  14. Hi - I have come up with a solution: in fact it was part of my setup in my old home. I have the internet router downstairs, and to it have connected a Deco wireless hub system comprising three base stations - the first connected to the router. Anyway, my broadband into my property is rated at 52Mbps down / 17Mbps up (at my old place it was 950Mbps down / 120Mbps up, but hey, don't really notice it that much). In this new place, the second Deco connects wirelessly to the first, and this second Deco connects to my PC upstairs with an ethernet cable. Connection is rock solid and the ping is in the range of 6ms to 8ms, which is pretty good. Everything, including DCS in MP, works flawlessly. Before in my old property I had my PC connected with ethernet cable to my router which was in the same room and didn't use the Deco hub(s) at all apart from phone/laptop/ipad inet access in dead spots.
  15. Superb interview: Wags is the epitome of calm, clear and sensible!
  16. Hi, I've moved to a new home and here I cannot have an ethernet cable running from the main router in the living room to my upstairs office where I have my setup. I'm in the UK. I know there is a wireless solution to connect to the downstairs router, but ping will be high probably. Is a solution using ethernet through the electric plug sockets fast and reliable these days? Or are there other solutions that might work best. Hoping for fastest speeds out of the pipe coming into my new home as well as low latency, given my current constraints. As always, thanks in advance.

    Flight Model

Thank you all for the contributions - and some fascinating new details here.

    Flight Model

Quick question about the flight model: it feels after takeoff that there is quite a bit of movement in pitch, unlike the Viper or the Hornet, making it tricky to fly. Why is this and is it normal? Also, the aircraft needs to be constantly trimmed out, it seems.
  19. That Harrier nearly lost its starboard wing wheel assembly there.
  20. Yesterday at RIAT 2023 I climbed up to the cockpit of a real F-15 Strike Eagle. Delighted to say they replicated it perfectly from the one Razbam have created for us. Pilots getting younger too. I asked the pilot the radar's range. She smiled and replied: 'Far enough.'
  21. One further question: even though I am seeing highish frame rates from the mid-50s all the way up to 90 in clear, low congested areas, when FPS are around 50-60 there is considerable stuttering of the image when moving side to side in the cockpit. How can this be mitigated? Also there is quite a lot of shimmering visible - how to lessen? And finally, would a 4090 deliver much better frame rates or am I CPU-bound (even though it is still quite a strong CPU). And yes I am using MT.exe.
  22. Thank you - had not been using OpenXR Toolkit but it is amazing! Huge performance increase - now running up to 80FPS in VR!!
  23. Thank you - where is the setting for FFR?
