  1. I'm now expert, but I'm quite certain this all comes down to the player's fov (field of view), or in fact, lack of fov. I'm not suggesting you should actually do this while driving , but step in your car and start driving, then use your hands as blinkers like this: (let someone else hold the wheel ) You'll notice how your perception of speed is drastically decreased. This is also why I keep saying that imho, the biggest step to be made in VR, isn't resolution per se, but larger fov. I suppose for pancake.. ehr.. monitor users, it's not much different (depending a bit on the size of your screen and how close you are to it). Most people looking at a monitor on there desk, are pretty much looking through a mailbox slot.

    MH-47G

I did some searching, but haven't been able to find a list of AAR capable Chinook variants. I know I've seen UK versions with probes and wiki tells me certain MH-47 variants are equipped with a refueling probe. So which variants are AAR capable? Would certainly be an awesome feature to have, but if this is only limited to a small number of (maybe even classified) variants, chances are slim we'll see it in this module I suppose. Although I love ED's (helo) modules, ED is not really known for deviating from realism. If their particular type doesn't have a certain feature in real life, they don't add it in their module. Only deviation I know of, is the option to change weapon laser codes from inside the cockpit. But, for instance, they don't add a drag chute to their C Viper (which also makes sense). But let's see what they come up with (al just speculating here because I'm excited about the announcement, and I'm sure I'll enjoy it, whatever variant they release)

    Viper

Welcome to the forum @D.0.A. Well, both can do both AG and AA (with a slight variation in loadouts), but that's pretty much where the similarities stop. With main differences: Viper land based, Hornet allows for carrier OPS (obviously) Viper exceeds in speed/acceleration, Hornet exceeds in turn rate About buying or not, it really has nothing to do with being religious or not. Here, let me make it easy for you : If you use your mind, you wait for the next sale (never really far away) If you let your heart speak and don't bother about the few extra $, you buy now
  4. Proper basket physics are in the pipe line (for a while now) No ETA, but Bignewy responded on several occasions that they are working on it. So consider your wish granted. You only have to wait a bit
  5. In addition: Would be awesome to have the option to sling load 2 (light) vehicles in one go And, as a bonus, pick up other players in a Viper, to extend our loadout options and do some air to air combat (multi crew 2.0!)
  6. Both the old (dirty/used!): and new: RNLAF color scheme. Please, pretty please, with sugar on top
  7. Ah ok, that's cool. Haven't noticed that yet (probably because I'm shot down well before I get close enough )
  8. Thanks guys. Although difficult I suppose, it would be cool if ED could somehow manage to implement both callout methods Interesting, thanks
  9. C'mon @Dragon1-1, stop with the $80... There are super cool modules available for about $35, several times a year.. That $80 barrier you keep mentioning is only to those who either don't do pre-orders, or have no patience. Each their own choice, but no one must spend $80 to enjoy DCS
  10. I've never been much of an AA kinda guy (more into ground attack), so please take it easy on me if this was discussed before. I did do a quick forum search on this topic, but without luck. Also, I suppose this is not really Viper related, but as I noticed this while having a brief affair with that other Viper sim that recently got VR support, I thought I might as well ask here So, in that other "25 years old" Viper sim, AWACS only does bullseye callouts, whereas DCS AWACS gives BRA calls. Which of these is commonly used irl? (which should be considered more realistic?) I can imagine bullseye callouts being more useful, as they can be done one time and have all flights in the AO informed at once, but maybe I'm missing something here? (I did manage to figure out how to respond to bullseye calls. Quite a bit more difficult than just to a BRA call )
  11. Slim chances I suppose, but for anyone else into black/death metal; I recently discovered WAKE's latest album and it got me hooked: (goes really well with some fast and low DCS flying )
  12. Fwiw, I'll just drop this here I gave this "advise/option" several times now for various similar hardware related questions on this forum (and might be getting known for it by now ) Especially if you maybe don't have a super high end pc, you might also want to consider buying a second hand HMD. I'm using a Reverb G1 in combination with an "old" GTX1080ti. And although I won't advise getting a 1080ti now, it does still work for me in DCS (as in, I still enjoy it). I bought my Reverb G1 about 2 (or 3?) years ago second hand and never regretted it. It saved me a good couple of bucks and my pc is the limiting factor anyways. Is the Reverb G2 better? Probably, although in terms of specs they don't differ that much. (not sure if by now a second hand G1 would be much cheaper than a second hand G2 though). Just my 2 cents. As said before, most important part is that your pc hardware can match your HMD specs. (for me for instance, with my GPU it would be pointless to buy a Pimax 8K)
  13. One last thing I want to add to this thread for any potential new players reading this: You see everyone talking about $80 modules in this thread... Well, I've been playing DCS since day 1 and never, no never did I have to pay $80 for a module. There are sales like 5 times a year, with proper discounts. I think the most I ever paid was like $55, but with a bit of patience, most sale prices drop to the ~$35 range. If you really can't wait for a sale and are prepared to pay $80, you won't bother about the trial anyways...
  14. Respect bro. Hang in there. You can do it (although, I'm still playing DCS in VR on a 1080ti, so I reckon that also deserves some kudo's )
  15. Ah ok, I missed that I stand corrected then
  16. I am such a person (pretty much only have a few hours of DCS time in the weekends) If ED did this, that would mean I could fly each module for 7 weekends, for free. Given I could do this every 26 weeks (trial resets after 6 months), that would mean with only 4 modules I could play the entire year, for free I don't think the trial is meant for that
  17. It seems that what @Hawk_UK meant to suggest, is that every time you use the trial module (even if only for 5 minutes), that counts as 1 day of use. His use of the term "runtime" is quite confusing here imho. I had to read his posts several times to understand what he meant (but perhaps me not being native English didn't help with that) Fwiw: Personally I don't think ED needs to do anything. I mean, 14 days of trial for each module every 6 months?! That's already extremely generous if you ask me. Can't recall I've ever seen any game developer do that. If I were ED, I'd probably half the trial period, but they probably know what they're doing
  18. Imho, eventually, it all comes down to practice and getting used to something. I flew DCS helo's since they were released (Ka-50 on DVD era)(can't remember if that one came before or after the Huey ). Initially I used my 15 yo TM Cougar set until the gimbal broke, then switched to TM Warthog, then switched to 10cm extended TM stick (never messed with springs) and now Virpil collective. Apart from the broken gimbal, the only reason I switched, was to increase immersion/realism. But honestly, none of the improvements made me a better pilot. I could do just as much with my Cougar, as I can now with the Virpil and extended stick. But I do admit, it took me many many hours to get the right feeling. (what did help me a be a better virtual pilot, was when I switched to VR, but that's another story)
  19. Me too. My wild guess would be the D, as it's most produced/converted (correct me if I'm wrong) Also I'm quite pleased that it's going to be an ED product, as so far their helo's are amazing!
  20. Korea and Vietnam should have a place in your list as well (Source) After secretly cheating on DCS last week with that Viper sim that recently got VR support, I came to realize the huge impact ATC/comms have on immersion and feeling of a "living" environment. So, as your list is not limited to modules alone, ATC upgrade should also be in there somewhere
  21. Dangit RAZBAM... Now I need to have it too... I'm never going to save enough money for a GPU update this way!
  22. I asked about the same question a few months ago. Despite the thread being derailed out of control by a certain someone, Notso himself gave this answer at some point:
  23. Assuming you are using SSA, you might want to post your issue here in this SSA specific topic:
  24. Hi mate, no offence meant, but this has been requested and discussed already many many times before here. Just like all kind of other good suggestions Do a quick wish-list forum search on "radio menu" or "comms menu" and you'll see quite a few more ideas. (Jester wheel is not liked by all) Anyway, ED is continually working on improving ATC/COMMS. Just at a lower pace than we'd all like to see. I'm sure in the future they'll also try and make it more user friendly to operate. Bit off topic, but I've been trying out that 25 years old modified Viper simulater that recently got VR support, and it's quite shocking how much further that old sim is in terms of COMMS... (Although at the moment those radio menu's are also not VR friendly at all)
  25. Indeed and he does it quite casually too I assume there were more people than just you, watching his performance? And not him performing in an empty warehouse
