thanks Urze for the reply and the links, and i am sorry for my needing info, we know you have been or are busy with the lltm. so its a combination of the softTH and Urze magic. thats good enough for me  i have no personal experience with the softTH only the th2go but this could be about to change, never thought i would need it. i do wonder how it convinces the pc to render more than the primary monitor, but i guess thats what softTH is all about? the news you give about 6 monitor support is really great. i have six monitors, although not all the same size, 3x19 and 3x17, so for testing i am good to go. 1x th2go and plenty of aging hardware looking for something to do. now i am wondering if 2x th2go can span vertical :) dam it, you have my mind going crazy, thanks. definitely looking forward to your report on the lltm08 and the rather lengthy description of how you got all this to work thru the softTH. and its already good to go for 6 monitors, fantastic. will read up on the softTH while i wait. ps: my current system specs are similar to yours. p5n32e-sli e6850 2x 8800 ultra hopefully that will have enough grunt to run all six? anyway it will be great fun toying around with this idea, i can't wait. i have a million questions for you and i am sure they will be answered soon enough, once again well done mate, top job. edit: after following the link to the forum you are a sick man, that is an 18 screen config you have invisaged, i like the way you think :) so you are thinking the same thing as i am, vertical spanning of multiple th2go, in my case two th2go @ 3840x2048, i like it.

some valid points from both sides of the table. i agree its eventually memory that you rely on for switch or button position, more so than labeling whatever the language. i just think of at first, while learning, before you memorize the location and function of each switch or button, this is when you may really want things in your native tongue, or eye whatever the case may be. if you desire to remain authentically Russian that is great, if you need help in english you have the pop up labels in english for that, which i am sure will be a toggle on/off option if you want it extra hard-core :) if someone makes an english cockpit mod then i would have to admit to probably using this option. me not using the Russian birds in lockon was originally due to a lack of understanding of the systems, and my unwillingness to learn the language, so i immediately headed for something with a cockpit that made sense in my native language. either way we have english support.

Urze, my hat is off to you, absolutely brilliant. Firstly congrats on the site, products etc. secondly, i have a few questions i am sure others would like to know also. 1. about your 3 screen + 1 touchscreen setup, can you give us some technical info, as in video hardware in the pc, and software used if any other than windows display options. i am guessing its using 2 videocards in non-sli configuration with all 4 videocard outputs in use. 2. does black shark beta currently support native multi monitor support, as we have seen with fsx (sorry to compare), or is it some sort of Urze magic. can you explain the setup process, is it in game options to set multi monitors, or are you convincing the game its all one big screen somehow? from my experience so far with similar equipment, i know that FC with the triplehead2go is great, using touch-buddy on the touchscreens is amazing. this creation of yours has taken things to a new level again, well done mate, most inspiring and it makes me green with envy. now with the availability of 3 way sli, i wonder if its possible to run all six videocard outputs to 6 monitors making the bottom 3 touch screen. or alternatively 1x triplehead2go above and 3 other touchscreens below. making a 3x2 configuration, lets hope so. from my questions i hope its obvious you have me somewhat excited about this sim again with such interesting possibilities being demonstrated, all the best and thanks for sharing with us. and just between you and me, when is this sim released :), i now need a copy after watching your vids, thanks also for your efforts making them, best in game footage i have seen yet. looking forward to your reply, ggg.

moose: my mate just ran these on his e8400 with 4gig and a g92 gts 512meg went from 9000 to 13500 in 3dmark06. tidy. ps: not a big fan of such benchmarks but its a fair indicator these drivers are doing something right. will now try them on my rig, and see how it goes.

the sweet taste of the new cpu will be long gone after the sour taste of the housework remains, just think carefully, thats all i'm saying :D i recommend you save for the cpu and forget that idea all together. imagine: sorry guys can't fly, vacuuming, hahahaha.

After giving these drivers the initial thumbs up, i have for now reverted back to the good old 169.21whql as i also had some stability issues, with screen freezing costing me a round win in rfactor after around the same time frame as Esac described above. PS: tried using a restore point i created thru windows prior to installing the new driver, so when i wanted to go back, in a hurry for the second race it failed to restore, no wonder i use 3rd party drive imaging software. anyone else having stability issues with these new 174.20 beta's?

some great ideas guys, various solutions appearing. i like the Canuck version for simplicity, but Kuky's resetting of the trackir could definitely reduce stress as you enter a game with no tracker :) i have had this happen, not often but often enough. and TALON's method also works for vista users. FA_Crazy-Canuck: thankyou for posting the images, i see now that you have an extra tab in the graphics.cfg properties, i have only general and summary, where as you also have a security tab, can anyone tell me how to get it or why i don't have it, cheers. T4LON: sorry if its obvious to others but can you explain the "ping -n 127.0.0.1", isn't that ping home and why do you have it?
-
thats sounds like a good idea, i wonder if it then block all graphics changes too, guess it would, will try it out, thanks. edit: was sure i had tried this before and even if i set the the graphics.cfg properties to read only it still changes the settings in graphics.cfg if i make options changes in game. this is in win xp32, sorry i don't exactly follow your instructions, are they for vista? on the topic of changing aspect ratios. i think one of the startup frontends will resolve this issue, maybe its locfg. there was also a workaround that someone developed to load a different bat file or something, sorry don't remember who. but its a definite pain to have to reset all the time, fixed for dcs bs i think.
-
sounds amazing, looks even better. have to try it, thanks.
-
well the 174.20's are technically still beta's, i only tried it very briefly in lofc. so thanks for the info, see how others go i guess. the performance is there, maybe you will have to wait for the official or whql version to appear, the issues you describe used to happen to me ages ago, alt-tab and returning to the game used to help in my case, but not always.

new pc for xmas, due for release late Q4 2007 :)
G3 replied to G3's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
after getting familiar with the new pc, i got to the point where the temptation to overclock stuff was too much. so today with the help of other users recommendations for bios settings for voltages etc, i went for it. i had the system up to 400 fsb = 1600 and the cpu was running @ 9x = 3.6 Ghz am yet to get it gaming stable at these setting but booting and general windows was fine etc. think i need to get some active chipset cooling, its just passive heatsinks with pipes running hot, this makes me think its heat related due to the fact it fell over shortly after the first test in 3dmark06, makes me think heat. back to stock for now, as after a few non posting reboots etc, the nerves got the better of me and i don't know about you but i'd rather a pretty good stock machine than a dead one :), will revisit the danger zone after i do some more homework on the subject, and my motherboard in particular. ps: thanks to all for the reps of late, don't go in the user cp much. -
prophet: ok i thought it was still a driver fix possibility in respect to FC. the move to dx9 resolves the issue for DCS BS, if so excellent. edit: looks like the 169.44 beta's solve the below issue the latest g92 gts cards are plagued with the sentinal clock down of gpu thanks to a power signal issue between psu and gpu. i think the g80 gts cards suffered this also, and as in this case not all, some people are lucky, even when the hardware is the same or very similar, plenty of users having similar issues. solution: for the g92 gts we had to revert back to 167.26 to get around the sentinal problem, also had to use a modified inf file, to include the g92 in its detection list, when installing the driver. we also disabled the nvidia driver service thru msconfig. it seems top brand name psu's are having this false error, and cheap psu units often run the system fine, go figure. i say the good psu's are having, but not necessarily causing ithe problem as it seems to be a combination of certain hardware, and not specifically one item. fact is we did get around it by using an older driver and modified inf, this is why i don't lay blame the high end psu's directly, and prefer to think there will be a videocard driver or firmware solution. if anyone has a sentinal clock down message, here's a link to the 167.26 drivers and you can learn about modded inf etc. http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers the difference on an e8400 with g92 gts 512 and 4gig: latest driver and the sentinal clock down = 1000 3dmark06 then with the old driver 167.26 with mod inf = 9000 3dmark06. thought i should share, as we spent days trying to figure it out. hopefully a driver or firmware update will fix this sentinal soon. Esac: if memory serves me rightly, the nvidia site is often the last to have the newest drivers. places like guru3d etc will usually have it for download.

if its the lockon gold usa version, it should never ask for a code etc. after it reboots your system the first time to install the starforce business. it should, if patched correctly, then ask for the second cd, and after checking it , then the game should start. the cd #2 is then required once a week or so. am i missing something, it sounds like a patching issue to me. are we talking vista or xp? more info the better. i can't recall for sure but if its a dodgey cd#2 does it even install FC ?

they are giving me a semi :), thats half a hardon. but no cigar when it comes to the full shadows, still horrible around the wing edges etc.
-
from what i see its generally a positive response. in rfactor they give me roughly a 20% gain, now thats pretty substantial. more to the point: do they fix the full shadow bug with lockon and the g80 cards?
-
very cool. got me thinking the pitch and roll is great for racing sims yet for flight i am wondering how it interprets a full roll or loop for example. maybe the effects reverse as you pass the vertical 90, looks tops.

the banks look really good now, good effort. i think the rapids look a little too organized, maybe be more erratic in the spacing and perhaps include some smaller rapids not full width etc. congrats, keep at it.

instead of flexing your guns, run the test and post your results. and now back to the regular program:thumbup:

don't take this too seriously :) forget the ch and the cougar, treat yourself to hell with sfs. get your hands on a sfs combat stick and split throttle. with this hotas you won't find a single fanboy defending the product as they were an absolute piece of crap, even before leaving the factory. the sfs f-15 replica controls are well modeled but thats about it, they are only game-port connection, so you are bound to have issues getting it set up in modern systems, not to mention the axis pots will spike horribly from new. on a positive note the internal key binding via keyboard pass thru is a brilliant function and my favorite part of the hole hotas. and i also intend to mod my split throttle to usb, retaining the key binding ability, the throttle is actually pretty good but same goes for its pots/axis in the fact they are horrible an not at all precise. some buttons are intermittent and feel cheap, and the stick grip is made for giants hands no humans. precision was not a word the manufacturers had in the vocabulary, it is impossible to fly with any accuracy on your own so imagine how impressed you squad mates will be when you smash into the formation time and time again. if you want headaches, misery and lots of flack from others get yourself an sfs hotas and regret it for the rest of you sim life, which you will probably soon discontinue thanks to the hell this product will put you thru. in all fairness i do like the split throttle. point is: people will tell you this and that and you can take it or leave it. often with bias opinions due to the fact they are owners of one brand and heard that someone else once had a problem with another brand. i think cougars look/feel great, and from the sounds of it once the nxt is fitted they are lifted to a new level of accuracy. haven't owned one but have looked right into it. as an owner of a CH combat stick, i can say it is a quality item. but i cannot comment personally on the cougar. so, clear as mud, don't go cheap, good luck. there's always the logitech attack3, what a joke :megalol: pilotasso: i love the fact your twist rudder died, how much happier are you with the pedals, heaps i bet.

some of those are pretty dam fine, especially the last one. the flight sim guy had the right idea with the axis pivot points virtually in line with his cg. we may have stumbled onto this years project  or fantasy :)
