  1. 1.) Download and install DCS world. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/dcs_world/ 2.) Download and install the a-10c module for DCS world. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/modules/dcs_a10c_warthog/ 3.) Use the key you have for the standalone version to activate the a-10 module. *NOTE* if you leave the standalone version installed while installing the rest you wont even to reactivate the module in DCS world. They are installed side by side and you can delete one without worrying about the other. They don't share the same files.
  2. Have you guys actually seen how long it takes for steam to even release an update after the manufacturer puts one out? In one case, it was 2 weeks AFTER the manufacturer released the patch before steam updated it. I still think you will be better getting the patch through the auto updater at the slower speeds :)
  3. Thank you MadCat for the track. Its good to learn the proper procedures while you are still learning so you don't create any bad habits. I completely agree. My earlier statement was to the fact that he was able to cover all the major systems and get the bird ready for flight. Either way, keep up the good work :)
  4. Try flipping the engine operation switches to "MOTOR" above the APU switch for a minute or 2 to purge the fuel from the engines. Then attempt to start as normal.
  5. Ok, your startup looks fine and you figured out the reason for the engine failure. Some of the steps were out of order, but thats fine. The reason the ADI would not uncage while spinning the knob was because you did not turn on the power to the stand by ADI switch on the right panel. You did figure it out at the end though and turned it on. As far as your flight, It looked good. I noticed you did not seem to trim at all during the flight. At least, I did not hear the trim clicks. I also noticed you turned off all of the autopilot channels. I would turn on the autopilot channels that you need. Bank and yaw are some good ones to have on. For me, I seem to fight against the heading channel but thats what the trim button is for. Every time you trim, it send new data to the autopilot to set the new heading, altitude ect. Just keep practicing but your doing great :)
  6. You could just get some PCB standoffs like these... http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=367 They work nicely.
  7. Can you post a short track of your start up? The APU does not have sufficient power to start both engines at the same time. You need to wait till the left engine RPM gauge is holding steady.
  8. Unfortunately, those items have to be run before DCS world can be started. There is no way around that yet. Just have phidgets start up with windows, its relatively small file and doesn't take too much time to start on start-up. Then you just have to start the other items. You might consider creating a macro or or other other type of shortcut to run the specific programs before starting DCS world. Its what I did :) Now, I just push 5 buttons on my keyboard and everything is working (vent, vent server, trackir, helios, dcs world).
  9. Hey Glider_UK, I sent you a PM.
  10. In order for the EAC light to go off,you must wait till the CDU alignment says "4.0.0.0" or something similar before turning it on.
  11. who said that Nevada was the last map? Perhaps there are others in development. Or a perhaps a 3rd party might be making maps.
  12. It has been stated there are no current plans to convert the current map to the new level of Nevada ect.
  13. Did you try importing your controls from the standalone to World? If so, that may be your problem. Delete the imported profile and create a new profile. Aside from that, its probably a control conflict, go into the options, by default some of the axis commands will be mapped to the rudder pedals, joystick and the throttle. Be sure to clear the ones that are not used.
  14. You could also hit "NO" when it asks if you want to update if you are ready to play right now. You dont always have to have the most recent patch.
  15. LMAO PeterP. That had me laughing for 10 minutes.
  16. The installer will detect the installed and activated version of BS1 on your system but it must be present. The BS2 Full version does not require you to have the BS1 installed on your computer. Thats the only difference between the two. If you need some interactive training missions for BS2, have a look at my signature :) As for the Huey, purchasing the Huey is the full module. The module is in Beta right now so your purchase grants you access to the Beta version while they work out the bugs and you will have the release version as well once it goes gold.
  17. Leafer is correct on all points. as for 2.) The AI uses the same external model for the F-15C as you have for the FC3 modules. The external model is apart of DCS world and is not necessary to purchase FC3 to have the model in a mission. 2B) The mods will only work on the machine they are installed on. That being said, some servers will block all mods, not sure about skins though. 3. d.Burnette is correct.
  18. While your reasons and assumptions about coding are simple and sound great in theory, in reality that is not always the most practical, and in some cases, more detrimental way of dealing with the "bug". As you upgrade, implement new items, add more features, it is sometimes necessary to change the way the game handles things. When you change how the game handles things, or change how things flow, its very easy to break something that used to work. In some cases, its necessary to rewrite the broken object from scratch because of how its now being handled by the game. So, while the coder may have a back up script of the previous item, for example an explosion, that backup may simply not work or cause a fatal error that crashes the game entirely. Wags has stated that they have been scouring the bug sections and gathering a list of the most troublesome bugs that they have had hanging around to try and squash as many as they could before moving on to 1.2.5. I am sure they took a look at the explosions, cbu 97, and other related effects. I am sure it is not as simple of a fix to just roll back to a previous working version of them. It may be so broken that this is the best we can do for right now, until they can release an update to the game engine itself that can handle the effects better. The current engine we have is about 10 years old and was stated before that its pretty much tapped out. This is why they are creating the new IG/EDGE. Since I have started playing this game, I have seen a TON of improvements and it just keeps getting better. Keep up the good work ED.
  19. Take a look in the default missions. I believe there is one called air show that has these objects in them.
  20. Just to go slightly further with this, DCS is the name of the game and not a company. Digital Combat Simulator was created by ED/TFC.
  21. I would say its normal. I get it from time to time. Most of the time, I get just one picture. Sometimes its a black box in the upper left corner. If you can play the game and all the modules just fine, I wouldn't worry about it.
  22. I'm not sure why the videos are not installing, but you can check out my signature for some interactive training missions (similar in style to the a-10). Hope it helps.
  23. Hmm, this update was indeed great news. There are two things I saw that I love. First in Wags update about 1.2.4 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1758651&postcount=4 under BS2, there is a small blurb about the prerequists changing for the installation of BS1. Can somebody elaborate in more detail about this? Second, I love the new screens for the upcoming GUI changes. I am curious though how these changes will effect my BS mission pack. I guess I will need to do some testing when its released.
  24. The training missions that I have are not videos. They are interactive training missions similar to the A-10. Please follow the link in the first post http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1381737&postcount=1 and follow the instructions in the read me file once you have downloaded the zip. If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
  25. That said knoby protrusion is the "Master Mode" button on the stick. The picture makes it look really bad, but its located basically on the side of the stick.
