KA-50 Black Shark 2 Training missions
BigfootMSR replied to BigfootMSR's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Sorry for the delay, I have been super busy lately and I have not had the chance to get on the forums much lately. Unfortunately due to the trigger systems my missions will only work in DCS World. They wont work in the standalone versions. DCS world is free to download and your cd key will work just fine to install the BS2 module into it. Search the forums, there are plenty of info on how to install them. -
I've attached a copy of my hotas throttle, warthog, and saitek pro flight pedals. You can overwrite your files located at C:\Users\*YOURUSERNAME*\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\A-10C\joystick. My files are defualt with the exception of the throttles that have been corrected from the backwards defaults and non extant button assignments removed. Please be sure you have the latest version of the game installed. Check on the main menu lower right hand corner. It should say something "1.2.1.6288". You could also try "repairing" World via the short cut in the Eagle Dynamics > DCS World > Repair DCS World. Good luck. DCS: Black Shark 2 1.2.1, Now Available
BigfootMSR replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
World is technically the update to the game. The version following 1.1.1.1 migrated the game into a base program called World where all future air craft, aka modules, can plug into it. This opened the door to allow 3rd party developers access which up to this point could not develop for the DCS series. The modules are not limited to aircraft and can be such things as terrain or eventually ground vehicles. One of the other nice features of world was the fact that you did not have to download and install separate 5 gig programs. -
DCS: Black Shark 2 1.2.1, Now Available
BigfootMSR replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
yes, you are correct. The standalone versions ended at 1.1.1.1. DCS world is currently at 1.2.1.6488ish. DCS world is the most current version. -
I bought A-10C on Steam, it's not found on DCS World
BigfootMSR replied to tom1502's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Yes, the game will run on a 32 bit system, same as BS2. But, if you have not ran any DCS games before, then you might need to do a 32 bit tweak if they dont run. We can help out with that if thats the case. The modules themselves are NOT included in the download of DCS world, but are instead a seperate download that install into world. As for the BS2 standalone, once you have the module installed into World, you can then delete the standalone. World does not touch any of the files in the standalone versions. -
uhmm.. you need to be more specific than that. But, I think this is more of a modeling question in which case, this should be posted in the "how to" section of the forums. By the way, creating multiple threads with the same question will not get you an answer any faster. If I knew the answer, I would tell you though!

DCS World Install Starting Again - Help
BigfootMSR replied to mac22's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
You are on the right track. Download the Correct BS2 module and install it just like you did with the a10 module. If you bought the upgrade version of BS2, then you NEED the BS2 upgrade module. If you bought the full BS2 Version then you need the non upgrade module. -
KA-50 Black Shark 2 Training missions
BigfootMSR replied to BigfootMSR's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Its ok doveman, I can understand the frustration with rockets. In my training tutorial, I have everything based on the hover for ease of learning but the rockets are tricky. You have to follow the instructions and keep the piper over the target while you fire the rockets. Its possible that you might start flying forward a bit when you do so but don't be alarmed. For this exercise, you just have to hit the target and it will continue on. As far as the instant action mission, It really depends on your play style. But, Its best to hide and do pop ups. Rockets really are a close range strafing type of armament for soft targets such as infantry and un armored trucks. Think of it kind of like the gun on the a-10, fly in strafe and egress out. -
Getting DCS World to run on cores 3/4 by default?

what controllers for the A10
BigfootMSR replied to vgerdj's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I had an x52 for a while and it was a good stick. It has lots of buttons and features that you can assign for a variety of tasks and there a several profiles with button assignments out there on the forums. The main difference in the x52 vs the pro is the look at feel of the stick. The button placements are the same. The pro has a different screen setup on the throttle. Other than than that, its not really any different. As for the question regarding if the throttle is necessary, I would say that its possible to fly with the keyboard, but extremely difficult. I would Highly suggest a throttle. -
You are up to date.

Two things... This should have either gone into the missions thread, or into the crash/bug reports thread. Secondly, game crashes cant really be solved without more info. We need your crash logs from your saved games folder as well as a more detailed explanation of what you were doing. What unit specifically did you add to the game and what were waypoint action were you trying to have it do? *Edit* I tried adding a helicopter and a plane AI to your mission, added a few waypoints, clicked on advanced waypoint actions, chose a type and a task just fine without crashing.

He was setting the SPI using the TAD which is over his target location. By doing so, he can then slave his TGP and MAV sensors to his SPI for quicker target identification. A waypoint can act as the SPI.

DCS World Install Starting Again - Help
BigfootMSR replied to mac22's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Just download the modules from here http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=136&scr=products&lang=en and install them. The installer should auto detect if you have the game installed and activated on your system. If it does not recognize them for some reason, you can use your cd key that you have with the game for whatever module you are installing. Only Black shark 2 can be installed into world. If you only have the original, you will need to purchase the upgrade first. FC2 will not be a module in World, only FC3 will be when its released, but it will require LOMAC or a previous version installed. You can read about it here http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=93633 -
It has not been released yet. There has been announcement on when it will be released either. This has all you could ever want including pictures of the new terrain :) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=80468

DCS World Install Starting Again - Help
BigfootMSR replied to mac22's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
1.) yes, you can delete them after you have world installed if you need to free up some disk space. 2.)You can install World to your D drive and it will still detect the modules just fine. It just wont run as fast such as load times being on the standard drive. There are a few known issues with SSDs that may pop up. There are solutions posted on the forums. 3.) A release date has not been announced. It was delayed for quality purposes. -
DCS World Install Starting Again - Help
BigfootMSR replied to mac22's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
You can delete them at your will.. However, I would honestly wait until after you have installed World. When you are installing the modules, they will search for any previously installed/activated software and automatically activate depending on the findings. It can save you some headache, especially with BS2 upgrade. For BS2 you must have BS1 installed and activated prior to the install. I am assuming that FC3 will be the same. You will either need LOMAC installed and activated, or a previous version. The standalone versions themselves can not go into world, only the cd key is transferred. World does not bother the standalone versions and can be installed in parallel with them. -
I cant give you a concrete answer or throw numbers your way that would say your going to X improvement. I can tell you that you will see some improvement upgrading to a system like that, how much depends on what system you are upgrading from and a whole laundry list of other variables. My suggestion would be to search through the forums for FPS issues. A lot of folks post their system specs and average frame-rates. It might give you a clue. IMHO from what I have seen of several threads regarding this issue. 30-40fps is about average.

As far as I know, this game is only designed at the moment to run on a single core. Forcing it to run on multiple cores wont work.

Fuel gauge always on and new LWS Jam prot switch
BigfootMSR replied to BaD CrC's topic in General Questions
I am assuming this is for the su25? World is inclusive for several different modules so just saying your fuel gauge is going haywire, wont lead to a solution. Can you be more specific as to the problem. What module? What version number? Does it happen only in certain missions? -
The .bin files should not be opening except by the .exe file that you downloaded. Download the 3 .bin files for world and the .exe file, put them into their own folder and then run the .exe It should work.

I finally purchased some ON-off-(on) switches for my inverter switch and the canopy. When I was trying to modify the .lua file for the canopy switch, I could only find canopy open/close. Am I missing something? Thanks for any suggestions!

Need a bit of help getting started - new user questions
BigfootMSR replied to 1Wolf's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Sorry about the delay, I did not see your question until now :/ The producer of ED/DCS says that FC3 will require Lockon:flaming cliffs or a previous version. So, it sounds like its going to be similar to the BS2 upgrade issues. You will need to have a previous version installed and activated in order to install and activate FC3. FC2 will be a standalone product and FC3 will be a module you install into World. This means that they will not interact with each other. So, you should be able to install FC2 now and have no problems with FC3 when its released. -
You can also check out the interactive training missions for BS if you have that in my sig. You didn't mention what modules you had :)
