  1. He is probably taking a break and laying low for a while since he has been bugged so hard on panels and what not lol.
  2. Sorry about that. I have updated the links in the first post of this thread. The links got broken after the last site upgrade.
  3. I too couldn't disagree with you more. BS2 is NOT just a compatibility upgrade. It had all new higher rez textures, upgrade from the old FC2 like rendering system to the newer one (current day DCS World), lots of avionics changes, the list goes on. I completely understand how ED came about with charging for the upgrade. A lot of work went into it. The fact they even gave us the option for an upgrade is a blessing. You could have always been forced to pay full price.
  4. I'm disappointed to hear the weekly updates are going away. I always looked forward to them. I can understand that sometimes there is just nothing to report and I can understand why canceling them is effective before peeps break out the torches and pitchforks because a weekly update got skipped. I look forward to the monthly updates, but Perhaps ED might consider bi-weekly updates? Just a thought.
  5. It sounds like he is trying to install the older BS1. It does not have the same version of the DRM we are using with the current products AKA the activation's don't automatically accumulate after 30 days. I believe for the original BS1, the only way to get more activations was to submit a support ticket and ask for some. ED has always been generous in giving them out. The newer DRM that we use for the A-10C and BS2 automatically grants a new activation AFTER the last one has been used after 30days.
  6. have you tried playing with the burst length switch?
  7. :megalol: I laughed so hard at this thread and the flame war that erupted... Phew.... I have to say though. I'm amazed at the amount of people that are still in an uproar of the BS2 upgrade. It states very clearly that by purchasing it, it requires BS1 to be activated. Its an extra step that you agreed to when you purchased the module for a discount, and now you want them to give you the full version instead. Perhaps ED will create a system in which you can trade in your upgrade key and pay the difference for the full version. As far as the FC3 modules, PeterP and others are correct in that its a legal issue with Ubi soft. Although, I am curious what the difference between the two "DCS worlds" is. Is it not possible to install the FC3 or BS2 into the STEAM World directory? Obviously its not a DLC and wont be updated by STEAM but you could still fly it with the rest of your modules that way. As for the Huey, the Huey is a product of Belsimtek, not ED, and its up to Belsimtek and probably steam to have that incorporated there. I'm sure ED has some involvement in the process since its their game though. Legal details and all. Gotta love em. Thanks for trying to make peoples lives easier ED and spreading this wonderful game onto a very widely used and accepted platform. I for one hope it does well. Keep up the good work
  8. You do not need to edit the way points. Just select the aircraft icon in the mission editor and where it says "TYPE" in the properties menu, change it to "Take off from ramp". Save the mission and your good to fly. If you want to change your parking spot, you can change the "PRK" to the right of the "TYPE" to pick your parking spot.
  9. I agree with Flagrum, BS2 still receives updates where as BS1 does not. World is free too :) If you upgrade to bs2, you can download my training missions that are in-cockpit interactive training missions instead of vids.
  10. BS2 has only JUST been released on steam. Originally, only BS1 was on steam.
  11. Its still played and there are still servers that run it. The interesting thing is with the new BS2 and DCS world, you can also fly it with the a-10 and many other aircraft.
  12. While the upgrade is somewhat clumsy to use, you should take another look between the two versions... There is a LOT of things they updated between the old shark and the new one. Not to mention its inclusion in World and is still constantly receiving updates. The amount of work it took to remake the shark from the old bs1 to the new one is well worth the upgrade price. You don't have to agree. To each their own and everybody is entitled to their own opinions.
  13. To my knowledge, its not possible to change an air field from civilian to military.
  14. That is not up to ED to decide. That is a limitation of Steam itself. Most games that you bought say through a store or origin for example cannot be activated on steam. Only certain products can be, such as valve products and a select few. You can however add them to your library of non steam games and launch from there.
  15. No worries, somebody should be along soon that has more knowledge that can help you out. If not, keep buggin em :) But this is forum is the proper place for it. Something that will hopefully speed this up. What is the exact error message you get?
  16. Since this is actually a double post, the other post has been moved to the payment and activation subforum. A mod should merge the two posts to remove clutter. This question will be best be answered there. You can find this subforum here: http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=38.
  17. Have you tried repairing world from the start menu? Start orb > programs > Eagle Dynamics > DCS WORLD > Repair DCS world?
  18. Without digging through the forums for the exact wording on the DRM... Basically as Grimes has stated. The only thing it has in common is the name. It is not intrusive and I have not noticed any of the problems the old star force DRM created. As for the limited number of activations, you have 10 activations and 10 deactivations. AFTER you have run out of activations, you will automatically be granted another activation after 30 days. You do not need to contact ED for the activation to occur. To my understanding, the older BS1 keys did not have the auto granting of activation in which case, you needed to contact ED to get more. Somewhere around here, possibly in the manaul, it talks about the activations as well for everybody to read. In there, it does say that if you upgrade certain pieces of your hardware then it will require an activation. You basically get so many points for each piece of hardware/OS you upgrade for your system. After you get to 12 points I believe it will require an activation. But, apart from all that, its non intrusive, easy to use and easily forgotten about.
  19. SkateZilla beat me to the punch. First try repairing world, then running the update. Sounds like something happened when you updated the first time.
  20. We can certainly try and help you, but we need more information, What are your system specs? Operating system? Can you attach the DCS logs? 64bit or 32?
  21. I don't think it has been mentioned here yet, but a similar problem I saw a member experience was with having the correct versions of world and module. After you installed world, if you let it auto-update before installing the module, its possible it has a different version number and wont install. Version number is very important.
  22. Yep, but its a small price to pay for a game that is under heavy and constant development with new features being added and updated all the time. Some things are bound to break and they do a good job of fixing them in a timely manner.
  23. BS1 must be installed separately. Just install it to any drive/location OTHER than the DCS world folder. Then activate it. Once that is done, you can then install the BS2 module to DCS world and activate it. After all that's done, if you need the space, you can safely delete BS1 from your system.
