It's actually quite a lot of fun playing with the radios. I'll try and look again if I have more time tonight. Maybe I'll put my server up.

You mean 220MHz not working? I guess we should report it as a bug then. Anyone fancy doing that? I used to be a video game tester 15 years ago, so I've done enough bug reports for one lifetime.
-
You're right! FM is the default. Not AM as I originally said. Additional tests were done on FM. My other mission uses FM and AM together. 220 doesn't work on either.

That was a mistake with the screenshot. It's been updated now :)

Tested on a fresh mission. Still not working. I've also found something else that is even more interesting. Map: http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/403430334760491495/7EF85DD179AF4DDD28FD1A7AEB3EEA3A6A7C3753/ Radio: http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/403430334760521720/9C40A4C9B777DEF1D8D31F3D2872A8A979C8D80A/ Trigger: http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/403430334760490949/39571FEBC2735EBF510AA381A19B0C93F22832A0/ I've added screenshots to show exactly what I'm doing. I setup a trigger on mission start that plays a recording on the 220MHz frequency. It repeats. When I go in game, I turn power up a little and turn on SAS to keep the helo steady. Then I change to 220MHz on the R-836. It's set by default to FM (not AM) and the it's the right radio - so there's no need to do anything else. No sound. If I add another at 221MHz, it works perfectly. Now, if I add yet another at 222MHz, so we have 3 stations - 221MHz will stop working. It seems that only the highest frequency broadcast on the radio system is picked up. I haven't done extensive testing, but this seems very odd. As mentioned above, I'm running 1.5. EDIT: I had the wrong frequency on the first screenshot - the updated screenshot still has the same problem.

How it Works: Mi-8 Fire Protection System
Slazi replied to AlphaOneSix's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Great stuff, Alpha. Thanks for sharing. -
It's quite easy to take off with heavy payloads without rolling in the Mi-8. Just do it slowly and step by step. Unlock wheels, Apply a little collective. Adjust pedals and stick to hold you still. Trim. Apply. Adjust. Trim. Keep repeating and you'll be hovering nicely if weight allows. If you're a little to heavy, you need to add a little forward momentum. If you're too heavy, then a rolling start will make things a lot easier.

Thanks for the replies. I haven't tried 220.025 yet. Tarres, is that in 1.5? If so, I will have to create a new mission to test it.

I've added my own sound sources in the ME. For example, I have a 100000 KHz signal (100MHz) coming from a map zone via a simple repeating trigger. 149975 also works fine. However, 220000 KHz cannot be picked up by the radio in the game. I'm wondering if this is a problem with the sim, with the editor, or with the real radio system.

Hello fellow pilots! :pilotfly: I've been working on adding radio stations to one of my missions and I have a few questions. I am using DCS 1.5. R-863 220MHz: Any reason this frequency might not work? I've tested all the other limit frequencies: R-863 VHF 100MHz AM - checked R-863 VHF 100MHz FM - checked R-863 VHF 149.975MHz AM - checked R-863 VHF 149.975MHz FM - checked R-863 UHF 220.000MHz AM - FAIL R-863 UHF 220.000MHz FM - FAIL R-863 UHF 399.975MHz AM - checked R-863 UHF 399.975MHz FM - checked Do I need to set it to something odd like 199.999? ARC-9: Q1: The lowest frequency this should be able to pick up is 150KHz; DCS ME only allows me to set 300KHz. Is this a bug or am I missing something? Q2: I can't hear any broadcasts on these frequencies. Is this normal, or am I doing something wrong? I can pick up signals at 300KHz and 1300KHz, but there is no sound associated with them. ARC-UD and YaDRO-1A seem to be working as designed. Its quite fun being able to tune everything in. Thanks for reading! :smartass:

Great work guys. You're really keeping this machine interestiing.
-
You really can't compare that to an automatic. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGS-30

One option would be to start a kickstarter?
-
Sounds nice. But I think you're in the minority in wanting such a detailed navy environment. Most people want to fly modern planes at dcs level. Once we have that, then it might be a consideration. Perhaps in five years?

Autopilots and Flight Directors and Trim, Oh My!
Slazi replied to kingfish's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Oh, and if you know where the offshore oil rigs are, these make for great landing an maneuvering practice areas. -
Autopilots and Flight Directors and Trim, Oh My!
Slazi replied to kingfish's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
From my experience, the main thing I learned was to trim everytime I do anything. Start by trimming all the time and you will eventually learn when you don't need to. What you learn from the shark will transfer to all helicoptors. The Huey and the Mi-8 are totally different to fly, but the basics are the same. -
Great stuff guys. Can't wait.

Native voices or English voices for campaigns ?
Slazi replied to S-GERAT's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Both would be best. I like hearing Russian in my Russian aircraft, even though I don't understand it. I also like having a Russian cockpit with subtitles on the mouse cursor. I agree with the person who suggested aircraft by aircraft choice. -
I also found that after a while, I would just keep my head around the default position and aim from the tip of the verical line at the top of the site.

New Build - What Nvidia driver for 970 FTX+
Slazi replied to Cavemanhead's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yup. No problem with latest drivers. -
Position is fixed. Using trackIr, I just have to lift my head very slightly to use it. Feels natural to me now.
-
Joystick binds for zoom in and out are essential. Combine that with a modier for fixed zoom positions and you're golden. I still think it's much easier to spot things irl due to depth perception and the fact that your eyes do a lot of cool things subconsciously.

Hold down the desigate target button when using it.

My pilots get shot all the time in the Mi-8. That's why I always carry a couple of spares.
-
I modded my loadouts to allow me to carry the 32As. Happy now!
