  1. Which is the reason I don't have any interest in the new map. Frame rate is key for me in a sim. 1.5 has basically made the Mi-8 viable for me again. Combat was off limits with the previous engine due to massive frame rate drops. So much so, I had to make a post about the difference in the Mi-8 forums. A huge improvement.
  2. http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/396672236077939480/2CBE15088C84A9419670199F71CFCCD7B10BCB62/ That would have killed my frame rate before. Now I can do a ton of damage in the target practice mission.
  3. I think the Mi-8 was the worst due its reliance on rockets. Massive improvement.
  4. Ever since I started flying, the 8 has been trouble. Low flight results in dust that killed fps. Rockets and wreckage smoke also caused massive problems. Every rocket run resulted in 2fps at the worst point; this caused a number of collisions. Now the new engine upgrade has been released, nothing causes problems. Flight and attack runs are like silk. I can aim and adjust for misses now. It really is a totally different (dcs) world. If you haven't flown already, definitely give it a go. Great work on the helo. Looking forward to more.
  5. Much better frame rates for me in the Mi-8. Smoke and wrecks used to be a killer. Much better now. I'm getting 133fps in the cockpit at the start of the instant action target practice mission. Drops to around 40 at the lowest. It used to go down to 6 or so with rocket runs. The rockey trails make aiming much easier now. And it is now easier to see enemies. Good stuff.
  6. Do we need to be on the beta version to get the upgrade?
  7. Diagnosed with a serious case of 1.5. A week's worth of recovery time required.
  8. I'm reasonable with a few of the modules. No way I would claim to be good. I do love learning the systems. I can do manual startups for many of the modules. I don't have the time to master anything, but I love jumping into the different frames and having a go.
  9. Definitely useful
  10. Yes. This and the Northrop Grumman EA-6B Prowler.
  11. Agreed. Very unlikely. I have all my modules on Steam for the convenience. It's all down to preference. Definitely give the SU-25T a shot. It's fee, but it's an amazing aircraft.
  12. I agree that listing everything in view is silly. It should be automatic for ai multicrew a/c. Perhaps the player should get some kind of in flight interface, but having to move to the F10 map in flight is too much to ask. AI recon should be the main source of intel; ground units should keep people updated.
  13. Regarding question two, this is what the manual has to say: 1. Rockets Quantity switch: ПО8 – ПО16 – ПО4 (8 - 16 - 4). Controls the number of rockets fired from each rocket launcher while the Weapons Fire switch is held down. For example if two pods are loaded, set the switch to "ПО4" to fire up to 8 rockets (4 per launcher). Four rockets per launcher seems to be the minimum. So if I've got 6 equiped and only want to fire one or two, it's going to mess up the firing cycles and leave me having to hold the button down. I find it surprising there isn't more control. Anyone know about q1?
  14. The Mi-8 definitely runs badly for me compared to other modules.
  15. Great to hear it.
  16. Load rockets on all pylons so you don't need to worry about lasing. Press space to fire.
  17. Right, but what Ice is saying makes sense. I'll give it a try when I get the chance.
  18. 1) Maybe this is an engine request, but the ability to add weight to a unit to simulate cargo. Even better, an official system for adding cargo. The Mi-8 should be able to load up with crates of ammo for SAM sites for transport. 2) Ability to set ammo and reload ground units.
  19. Yup. This would be great. I think the ME already has the power to do this.
  20. I have two: 1) We can equip the standard B8V20-A rocket launchers with the 20 80mm rockets. I seem to recall it also having the UB-32A-24 on the inside pilon by default in some missions. Was this a bug? My (old) copy of the manual states "previous generation UB-32A-24 launchers equipped with S-5 57mm rockets are no longer in service." Is this due to availability? Should we be able to select these when rearming? I quite like having the additional rockets as the fragmentation in DCS isn't really modeled. 2) When doing rockets runs, my first few salvos go smoothly, but then after that there is a long delay between pressing and holding the fire trigger before any rockets launch. When I'm close to a target, this will often cause me to miss by a long way or prolong my attack run further than expected. Am I doing it wrong? Thanks, Slazi(a)
  21. Yup. Crew need to do stuff. Spot targets, waypoints etc. I wrote a huge post on this, but it got lost and I couldn't be bothered to type it again.
  22. Large transport helicopters for sure. Mi-26 etc.
  23. Yeah, DCS infantry would be... Better AI is the most important. That and the ability for troops to occupy buildings.
  24. Sounds normal. We're all hoping for good things from 1.5
