DX9 is two generations back, now. Launched in 2002... That isn't new technology.
DX11 was the end of 2009. We're expecting DX12 end of 2015, but it's Windows 8+ (so basically, like way DX10 was Vista). Chances are, people won't bother with it until MS release a decent O/S for desktops.
However, it would still be nice to get some support from ATI.
I'm probably going Nvida next.
