PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
Andrew u.k. replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
My wife thinks it's all pretty odd, if I make a roof to my chair, I think I'll be adding social isolation to my lock down situation. :)- 3421 replies

Nice set up. I found that I was waving my hand about too much and struggled with the UFC. The cockpits are 3d, your hand moves in 3d but the actual panels are 2 dimensional. Well worth doing, I may even paint it black! Yours looks very cool.- 3421 replies

Good luck, I'll probably make one larger next time and not worry too much about the shape. Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk- 3421 replies

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller

I tried all except the F16. Even the Viggen works really well. With the Huey I just moved the board to the left a little and it was fine with the Gazelle. It was really nice in the Harrier, looks so good in VR. I won't fix anything physical to the board as switching between modules will be a pain and it's nice to just slide your hand over the board. It really makes using the controls so natural. It turns out nearly all cockpits and dashboards have about the same geometry. Make sure you can adjust the position, I find if I have my seat out a little it's easier to slide the board left or right.- 3421 replies

I shall try some other modules tomorrow but I bet they all work, cockpits maybe laid out differently but the geometry of your body isn't. Which module would you like me to check? I have quite a few. I was going to print off an A-10C cockpit and wallpaper over the board, but once you're in the headset you realise that's a bit of a waste of time. However currently what with the lockdown that's what I do have! I was going to install my Mfds and some lumps bumps and dummy switches to the board so I can physically touch something, but I've got a feeling it's really not needed, I shall experiment over the next week. I was thinking of hook and loop tape so you could move them for each module. I think PoinrCtrl probably makes a full pit build unnecessary, and it will certainly be flexible. I'm a month in to using pointctrl and can say I absolutely love it. However I wasn't too keen on having my hand float about and felt it was a bit of an immersion killer. So I now have a ply dashboard. What's really made it so much better for me is a sheet of 6 mm ply fixed to my desk. It's cut to the cockpit size and shape, I mainly fly the A-10C. I now no longer have a floating hand, using the UFC is a breeze and accurate, scrolling is also so much better I just slide back and forth over the ply. I've ditched thrustmaster Mfds, the ply cut out corresponds with the Mfds position to make it all feel so realistic. Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk- 3421 replies

DCS World TARGET profile for TM Cougar and Warthog + MFDs
Andrew u.k. replied to Home Fries's topic in Thrustmaster
One of my Mfds stopped working mid flight and won't show up. It looks dead. I've tried uninstalling / reinstalling thrustmaster ffb driver, changing USB ports but no joy. All been working fine since September last year. Has anyone else had this problem? Cheers Andrew Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk- 2261 replies

Hi I have just received A pointCtrl virtual mouse that works great in VR. The problem I have, is my hand is floating in mid air while switching and turning knobs. My plan is to fix a piece of ply to my desk roughly the size of the cockpit, add some lumps and bumps, blocks of wood, MFD's etc. to give some physical feel. I'm after a tiled scale printout of the A10-C that I can wallpaper to the board, then fix my lumps to that. I have found this link that would be ideal: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/a10-warthog-cockpit-instrument-panel-1826005074 I have searched for A10-c cockpit's but not found anything, maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. Cheers Andrew

I find it sticky, but that's beginning to go away now after 6 months use. I found the most frustrating thing is ghosting, (I use the software) I think I've solved it with changing USB ports. Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk

I use the saitek software as it's so customisable with it. If you have problems, ghosting etc try a different USB, powered one if you can. Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk

Did I just read through the thread excitedley to find out at the end, the latest patch has discontinued multi crew? I was looking forward to this weekend. Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk

All I needed was a Powered USB hub. I didn't realise. It's like a new joystick again! It takes a lot of stick, no pun intended. But I think it's good stick and with the software it's pretty amazing.

That's good to know, I think I'll reinstall everything and go from there. I must say I love how there are so many possibilities with this software. Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk

I've been using the saitek software for a few months, not too many issues. I am now having problems where it is dropping out, for instance I load up and confirm profile is correct, enter dcs and I don't get a response, so then I go back in to saitek and send to joystick again, which works for a bit then drops out again. The profile is still the same and has not reverted back to default Any ideas, I'm thinking of just wiping everything. Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk

Yes I'm thinking along those lines. Each flight member has a new flight plan ready to with waypoint to be inserted. Then flight leader broadcast spi, each member marks spi point and calls out on radio , 2a, 3a 4a. Then flight leader transmits next spi/waypoint and flight calls out again 2b, 3b, 4b etc. Then just a simple case of flight adding mark points to the new fp. Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk

Currently I'm practicing making a new flight plan using Mark points from the TAD. This is relatively simple and this video helped a lot. With the new flight plan set up, is it possible to edit the waypoints for elevation and TOT? I can't see how to do it. Cheers Andrew Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
