  1. I was talking about the cadence of one of the cannons because I don't know if they are shot in a way that allows combining their rate of fire (i.e alternating). But yes, it should hit hard. I don't doubt that at all. I just think calling the gsh-23 weak and saying the DEFA 554 has to be _much_ better may not be accurate, depending on many factors such as the ones mentioned in these forums already.
  2. 17 hits with high explosive ammo, even from smaller calibers (20mm) should - in most cases - bring that thing down, I am quite sure about that.
  3. Hmmm.... I can't say if that is a good comparison. If you carry a single ghs-23 you have less problems with convergence and stuff while still having a higher rate of fire IIRC, that ensures more hits I guess. Do you know (from tacview or so) how many actual hits that were? Nevertheless: It should be checked, and i think it will be. The behaviour shown in your videos IS strange. Maybe the DEFA554 is really too weak. But the damage models are weird as well. I have managed to "one-shot" (I think it was four rounds hitting) an AI MiG-29 in the fuselage with that cannon, and I scored a lot more hits against AI MiG-21's wing and fuselage that just kept flying. EDIT: Also can we perhaps merge this thread with that one? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=156771
  4. DCS quality maps for the whole world are too big, no doubt. But I'd like to have the whole world, even as a placeholder with much less quality (and the possibility to "stitch" ED-made or 3rd-party-made maps into it), so probably at the level of detail of stock FSX, with a few low-detail airports in it, ready to be improved by modders. When you fly at night or at high altitudes or in bad weather you won't notice anyway.
  5. Voted. All those great guys, it was a hard choice.
  6. I agree with NeilWillis. I might be hesitating to pre-purchase a plane from some other developers again, but concerning Leatherneck I am - despite their problems with the MiG-21 - pretty confident that once they tell us something they will do their very best to make it reality, and that's why I would pre-purchase a product of theirs any without hesitating (provided I am interested in the module of course).
  7. We don't have the armed version of the C-101 yet so we can't tell. But it is a 3cm cannon, I expect it to pack quite a punch! :) EDIT: Oh, and @ the rest of the discussion: I am pretty sure the problem here is not the gun but the damage model of the target.
  8. OMG the puppy worked again! :D :D
  9. Are the following effects modeled? - fog / icing - overheating / overstressing of the engine or other parts
  10. Please?
  11. This thread is going out of control... :D
  12. I don't know if the Polychop guys like puppies though. Perhaps they would prefer a kitten or capybara or star-nosed mole. :D
  13. Goes without saying.
  14. Last time I used a puppy picture and it was super effective. Perhaps it is time for another one! :D
  15. Same impression here, I actually enjoy it despite the SFM. I'd still like to get it over with and have the AFM already. As I said in another thread: Better a bad AFM than the SFM, the rest is tweaking.
  16. Hey y'all! I wanted to talk about this because a few days ago I helped a fellow DCSW pilot with some hints on using the Huey, and it was one of the issues brought up: To use the radios properly the player has to use the pilot's PTT switch on the cyclic stick, not the standard key for the comms menu (which is "\"). This is working as intended and brings up the communication menu. Which radio is used depends on what was chosen on the intercom mode selector rotary switch on the central panel. Ok, so everything is working fine, BUT: The key used in FC3 planes for the communication menu "\" - and I think in every plane that doesn't have more than one radio PTT button, not quite sure now - is still available in the configuration menu. So when a player configures the keybinds he may see this one and not realize he has to use the other. What is even worse: It does work to a certain degree. If there wasn't anything happening at all players would suspect that the key binding could be wrong and search for it. The menu opens though, and you can hear your pilot talking and see the subtitles. So what players THINK is: "There is something wrong with the ATC, it isn't answering." and they check their frequencies or suspect the mode switch to be in the wrong position, they might even think their radio volume might be turned down, but they don't realize it is a simple keybind problem. It happened to me as well when I first flew the Huey, and I didn't remember it either although I think it is the same in the A-10C or the Ka-50. So the questions are: Is this "\" key of ANY use, except for simple communications? If no: Can you rename it to "comm menu SIMPLE COMMS ONLY" or something? Or maybe even remove the standard binding? Or make it completely non-functional if "simple comms" is disabled? If yes: What it is used for?
Luftbild: https://www.google.de/maps/place/Flugausstellung/@49.685617,6.9599597,243m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x6c40fbfe9be3de8f
  18. You could export the TGP view to another screen and then when you take screenshots you can just cut away the rest and take only that screen. One advantage is that your actual zoom and direction in the main viewport don't matter for that.
  19. You could activate auto-rudder, that could help. But yeah, real planes do that as well for the reasons stated above. by using the Keyboard you are making flying ten times harder. Even a cheap joystick with a twist axis for rudder would be much better. This is a simulation, and there is a good reason why real planes are not flown by using a keyboard.
  20. And if you want something small the Citation Mustang looks really nice. Welcome to the Forums!
  21. Yeah, I'd like to know that, too! I've been toying around with terrain meshes for a bit, but since I couldn't find any way to get that stuff into DCSW it was pretty much a dead end.
  22. I'd also say it is worth it. It isn't quite finished yet. Some tweaks on the flight model are ongoing, and also what the guys said above: some systems are implemented in a basic way and are getting improved. Still it is loads of fun already and you can basically do everything that you will be able to do with the finished module, although maybe the way you do it might change a little during the ongoing development.
  23. Yep, pretty much all the civilian planes, ATC, and the world. Also there are lots of people in the community who would dislike it.
  24. Why? The other radar mode works, I just shot down a few AI MiGs. Just use magics or the normal gun snake during dogfights, they work as intended. :)
  25. Aginor

    Radar lock

Ok, we'll just wait for the fix then. :)
