@Plagi Arism: Well, I do think Starway did some great jobs with his texture work, no doubt. And there are people who would like to have better textures not as an unofficial mod that could stop working any time, but something more official and supported, installable by one click instead of playing around with files on the hard disk that get destroyed in the next ipdate or so. If it wasn't for people like Starway (or Mustang who is also a modder and created the official textures we have now) we would probably never get new official textures for the caucasus, ED didn't seem too interested in doing them. Many people said they would gladly pay for new high-quality textures. The official DLC way may be a good choice for that. So if Starway can do it and maybe even make some money, why not. Today it might only be a re-texturing, tomorrow it might be a completely new map. The DLC way retains the possibility to just not opt in (because of performance reasons or because you don't care) and still be compatible. As I said before, to me it is extremely dependent on the price. And also performance. At the moment there is one thing though that makes me cringe a bit: What if a DLC texture constitutes a major advantage for players using it? This will probably be a non-issue because of QA by ED, but imagine the reaction by some people right now if the new textures make tanks more easily visible (at least before the FLIR is fixed which would make the current textures as good as any others?) Hmm... EDIT: also this is kinda offtopic, sorry. This is the polychop subforum...

I don't know about most of the data, but IIRC one of the reasons why Wags didn't hit at some point during the livestream was that he was flying too fast, the HOT is supposed to be fired below 180 kph or something like that.

Thanks for the list, Olli! :)

I meant that in some scenes it is more grabbing than in others. If not much is happenbing in the simulated world you become more aware that you are in fact sitting or standing around in your home. But yes, I think the same mechanism that makes you adjust your brain in order to not get sick anymore somewhat lessens the VR experience over time. I haven't used VR long enough to really tell myself though.

I would buy every of those three. Although I guess my favourite would be the F-4 And as for the F-105 being an orphan plane: For me its counterpart are 57mm guns and SA-2 SAMs, that should be doable. :D

I am torn a bit concerning the textures. They are nice, but I think it will depend on the price for me. There are very good free ones (like Barthek's) as well. The better building may be interesting though...

Yes it can! You should look ups some real world videos of the Gazelle, it is extremely nimble. EDIT: This one for example, but there are even better ones. [ame] [/ame] EDIT: This one as well. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M829-rG9nxc[/ame]

Haven't tried it in DCSW yet, but I get sick in every game in which the character moves. I fear that will happen in DCSW as well. BUT: Some of them make you really feel "there", at least for a short time. I ducked more than once to avoid hitting my head on something. :D

Nice stream, thanks Matt and Polychop! :)
-
Sure, but it is weird since we can't reproduce it.
-
Bugged in what way? I flew it yesterday and it worked fine.
-
Ah, that reminds me that somewhere I read about the danger of the rotor blades of the Gazelle hitting its tail during violent maneuvers. Can that happen in Polychop's Gazelle?
-
I just flew the M2000C a bit, and indeed went into a dogfight, got the MiG under the pipper and..... nothing happened. :D (I found it out though). And close combat radar modes seem to be fixed as well! :)

That's a CDU function, as I wrote above. I am not 100% sure but I think it may be in those files somewhere. If it isn't then we can't change it. Which sucks, because I normally use it in every mission. :(
-
LOL, manual done! :D Thanks BST for the update, sounds good!
-
Hey guys! Just wanted to ask about that OLS again, it just sounds sooooooo nice. :)
-
Cool, thank you very much! IIRC there once was a program somewhere on the dcs userfiles that could set some of those parameters, I think it patched the mission file before execution to include radio pre-set frequencies and possibly more. I would absolutely LOVE to have a small tool to do the stuff posted by you, Gliptal, combined with what that old program did. in short: To have a complete (or almost complete) data cartridge to use. I wonder about a few more data points though: - parameters in the IFFCC menu for CCIP modes (3/9, 5mil) - CDU flight plan page: automatic switching of waypoints on/off - CDU anchor page: display Bullseye on HUD on/off Thanks again for the list, very useful! ....I just wish ED would give us a real data cartridge menu....

Another question for Polchop: Are the possible pilots' head movements in the cockpit limited? So can we turn our head approximately as far as a real pilot would with the given equipment (seat, helmet, or other stuff that might prevent them from moving freely)? I am also asking because in some modules in the past there were funny things possible that reminded me of the Exorcist :D @Ripcord: No you are right! Every helicopter has wings, they are called rotor blades. :D And they do flex! The startup video showed it. :)
-
Yep, works flawlessly. I bought, like, a dozen modules for family members and friends already. :)

I don't know. Perhaps it was an earlier Huey version that did not have the controls like we have it in the DCS Huey? Or perhaps the person describing it just wrote "throttling down" because he didn't want to have to explain the governor functions to the reader.
-
Yeah, waiting for the C-101CC and the C-101EB with AFM slowly becomes torture. Not that I dislike ED's L-39, it is nice, but I need a western trainer / light attack aircraft as well! :)
-
That would be my conclusions as well.

Another question for Polychop: Which countries in the ME will be able to use the Gazelle? Only the real operators or - like it is with some existing planes - all countries? Not a new mesh, Wags said texture update. I am looking forward to hearing more of it, because those textures have to be stunningly better than the standard textures or Mods (like Mustang's or Barthek's) to make me pay more than a few dollars for it.
-
Perhaps I am wrong but I _think_ I remember reading somewhere that Huey pilots actually throttled down the engine a bit during cruise flight to reduce the stress on the engine. Not sure though, I am not a helicopter expert.
-
Hmm.... that certainly makes the matter more complex.
