Ha, missed on redundant server supplies earlier. Sounds very beefy While on topic of Supplies, Rico if I may inquire what amp draw you seeing while flying in your setup? I have a pair of 10A and single 15A 12V supply. I was told those are not cheap china but rather very respectable industry grade devices. Was thinking to power each bottom motor from dedicated 10 amp unit and both back ones from a 15A one . i know it is 5amp short from Bergison setup. do you recon it may be enough or would you say upgrade needed.

Very cool video Frusheen. Can't wait to start working on power as well. One note though, be careful connecting PSUs in parallel. It might not be a problem, but per my Electronics engineer friend ( who for the project gifted me three 12v supplies of not matching amp rating) there is some sort of interconnection needs to be made for their monitoring circuitry to be aware it is a group effort and not go against each other. I didn't yet look into that. Rico, interesting observation. I did see you initially mounting them wide and had a hunch that wider is better. but in a brainfart moment during assembly went completely the other way. Back flap pivots mounted close together, almost as opening a book which means im more pushed forwards instead of "falling into" the chair" on actuation. Thanks for the feedback, looks like I will be moving pivots to almost near outer edges, which might require some sort of spring to balance the fact that motors now hold more of the rider's weight.
-
Rico , since you already touched on that, after your experiments what is the ideal width between pivot points you arrived to? I remember you had them quite wider then what I have in my WIP seat.
-
Looks quite a thing. Waiting to see this take shape and start moving

Looks like great solution for eagle drivers! Many thanks for your efforts I did this with autohotkey software before https://autohotkey.com/

If you suddenly have problems ( which I would be surprised if you did) I'm sure there are stillat least some good old black 2.0 ports on your board. Hubs made just for that - connect more devices. The only issue that can cause trouble is faulty hub

Source of pressurized air can be a simple compressor (airbrush and medical ones can be not to loud) and I guess pressure regulator can be made to build up and release pressure fast enough, but I'm not convinced it will provide right kind of cue. Way in the past i got to do couple drag race launches in a bit more powerful vehicle then street and i think force did not feel pushing on chest but rather being pulled from behind (and into a seat) . The merit here might be simulation of real life g garment feel acting on legs and chest , not sure how much immersion it will add though

There are no issues with using USB hubs for those devices. Welcome to the board!

Not overly hard , but to be fair it will feel significantly harder then saitek and it will require getting used to. I also recommend looking at extensions , even shower one will improve the feel. If budget permits TMWH is clearly superior option.

i'm using Benq HT1085st, not much other choices out there for good short throw. yes, with proper positioning 2 are enough for 180 degree screen, (4' minus few inches tall, 3.5' radius) . warping and blending edges is not a trivial task, slowly getting there purchased pair of refurb units from benq_usa ebay store, they eventually accepted my offer for 660$, but by that time i grew tired of waiting and pulled the trigger on "buy it now". i don't think it can get much cheaper then that in near future. that seller will only ship within US though http://www.ebay.com/itm/161793540223?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

projectors are here and mounted. looking at screen warp and blend software options. started with zachry's simpit warp. after quick first attempt i managed to get the picture below. still many more corrections are needed for the wavy edges and the seam will need special attention, but its already gives me a very good idea of how things will look and i'm liking it a lot. as i found out my old GTX580 will not drive more then 2 monitors so upgrade is very needed will be trying vioso anyblend next .sent a quote request to immersaview but they are still keeping quiet.

New Build: Seeking opinions on parts and assembly
agrasyuk replied to Specter1075's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
For all DCS intents and purposes i5 overcloaked to i7 frequencies will provide pretty much the same performance - DCS does not benefit from extra threads, the extra cash mem will be a minute difference. AIO closed loop cooling systems do not operate any quieter or cool any better then the higher end air ones. I do not see any benefit to them at all. To surpass noctua ND and such one will need to build custom loop. I do not see any point whatsoever going crazy with PSU. 750W gold efficient model from respectable manufacturer will pull off your config with lots of room to spare for your comfort. Pascal indeed may be couple month away, but from day of release some time will pass untill availability gets sorted out. I tend to not jump on new architectures untill they are couple month in - bugs ironed out, drivers improved, partners begin to release better then reference design cards. I'm really sorry, but I find this particular section absolutely laughable. Fatigue due to trust from the fans? What? Except that in this case analogy is entirely not correct. Both cpus are sold without coolers and will require paying for one regardless . overcloaking costs nothing. Extra threads on i7 can be useful in some applications, but for DCS there will not be much difference. The "6700" number sure does have better ring to it then "6600" though -
Somehow I missed this build. Really nice indeed! Looking forward to see more.

I can't entirely agree on printing flat parts such as panels, but we use what we have . looking to see how this ends up. Cheers.

That is shaping up very nicely.

Thank's Wayne, hope your medical adventure is concluded with best outcome. We also had a bit of turbulence with unplanned hospitalizations in family, all safe now but really not a thrilling thing. As far as CDU PCBs , again thank you, but I can't say I took the best approach. Got super annoyed by kicad, and instead of researching a more friendly circuit design software I took my mechanical drawings , copied all the electronic elements with their contact footprints onto another layer and then had hours of "fun" with manually drawing trace boundaries trying and retrying arrangements to avoid use of vias and stay on one layer. Yes I accomplished working pcb , but all that work can't be really be used for any conventional pcb making to replicate the result. The biggest annoyance to me was not drawing but rather drilling several hundred holes afterwards . Let me know if you need any assistance with your CDU

John, this only makes sence. PSUs are abundant, chances are you already have a few laying around. if not plenty of free old PCs available on craigslist to get one from. And even not the best quality generic oem models will still be providing plenty clean power for our needs. Good thought on the toggle breakers too. Will make nice power distribution panel , you can have number of isolated power buses too that way . i have something like that already sketched out for my pit, ,also houses PC power and reset buttons , room and flood lights etc.
-
lower end generic PC PSU will give you all these voltahes at 200-250W easily, I cannot imagine you going to reach anywhere close to that capacity

Well goth lolita is always a safe play. Must admit I have a thing for them, lol. one of the heloweens years ago I convinced my wife to cosplay deathnote, we made quite a poor impression on Yagami and Misa Misa, no one at party was into anime at all . but that left me quite a few interesting pictures of my SO : ) As for your list I did watch the tank girsl and enjoyed quite a bit (I do have a thing for tanks). Although I just had to fast forward through a lot, they sure like to have tea and pastries all the freaking time. Amd Made watch kelly's heroes , excellent. Anywho we discussed it a year ago or so already . Here is AMV that pretty much summarize all the season 1 (in my favorites ) : Suturike witches was somewhat fun but I just can't get over the constant fan service... Sure its nice , but since the do it every effin time it looses the effectiveness . and magic shmagic, it must be freezing flying up there with bare bottoms! Now as to "look at me I'm a warship!" Girls, well I will watch it , eventually, for now however I drop this here... Cracks me up every time (I work with offshore team )

you guys just made me crunchyroll through the entire season. rory is awesome

I read their blurb , hence the questions that arise. "Co2 laser tube operating at 10600nm" is like saying something obvious like "the wheels of the car we manufacturing have round shape so they roll more easily on pavement. " its kind of common knowledge that wheels are mostly round. Then there is some more technocal term salad Yes , the built in hepa filter with some charcoal in it will work wonders when one tries to cut acrylic (listed as compatible material). ADD: in case not clear this is said with deep sarcasm. What I really wonder with things like this is where lies the boundary between company responsibility and personal responsibility. I mean manufacturer really needs to make a safe product, Hard to argue that. but at the end of the day it's really user's responsibility and best interest to have all the required knowledge to not poison their family with this

CNC what killer? will obviously not touch mills, lathes and turret punch presses. its significantly more expensive then cheapo china eBay lasers. I doubt it outperforms universal and epilogues. The idea to have a camera inside for self calibration can be great depending on implementation But quite a few questions arise on usage, cooling , laser source, air assist and most importantly AIR filtering. In the promo video that unit is shown operating in SOHO environment with all kinds of smiling people running around it. It will be quite a surprise when some buyers find out that lasers SMELL. They do mention some sort of "sealed" air cleaner integrated , I can't imagine it being sufficient for anything more then cutting paper (thiker cardboard will smell, any paint on it and it will SMELL). I find it quite disturbing that maker of this device portrays laser usage without addressing any of the dangers involved. That will be quite a nasty surprise when the super creative artist finds out consequences of lasering anything with vynil in it.

mounted Slaw's pedals and started on MIP. dug out my old cheapo UFC, will serve as placeholder for now. AOC 27 incher will serve as instrument display Did a comprehensive test of all materials carl's place sent as part of their sample pack, plus some more that my brother in law had. ended up ordering a roll of pro-gray and today glued it to the screen board with M3 77 spray. can't wait to try it out.

yes, I as well found after couple initial tries that direct lighting makes for visibly non-uniform lit panel . last one indeed looks good. keep posting
