  1. Phone glitched and I lost the long reply I wrote... To bummed to type up again, will type up my thoughts on driving backlighting when home. I did find a link to library on product page http://docs.macetech.com/doku.php/centipede_shield . seems very standard . is it not it?
  2. I can attest to Ian's involvement, many thanks for pushing me forward this spring. Matrix for such amount of buttons is very complex (to me) , but duable with pair of single layer PCBs : http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2409067&postcount=166 My experimenting with CDU interfacing can be found at link below. Perhaps not applying directly to your hardware, but still should give you some ideas http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=137157&page=2 I have my cdu near complete but wirh no progress past couple month. I so want to get back to working on this. Dealing with couple very serious setbacks from earlier this summer don't leave me a free moment... :(
  3. Looks good. Time to start working on those side panels
  4. That is indeed some cool electronic wizardry. Sure wish i hadn't slept through that many analog electronics classes. Ian, why do you believe you need an analog ? Back in highschool we used Tektronix devices circa late 80ies- early 90ies, reading about that rigol instrument I can't think of much things it won't do.
  5. Lathe is one of the most amazing instruments.
  6. According to my unconfirmed sources German law does not require you to declare anything below 500 Euro. So in case you reach that number you can close your donation button till next tax season.
  7. Except it will not work due to not seing your own hands. VR headsets have nothing to do with this thread nor with the entire topic of pit building.
  8. This is the place. All the info is listed here. While it doesn't answer your ( and my ) at the moment that's all we know.
  9. Helios receives the raw sim data from DCS and then represents it with gauges that it has built in. Original helios is closed source so to have new gauges gadroc needs to make them. Which will not happen. It was said Helios2 aside being open source was planned with gauge editor. I didn't follow that development to close for now.
  10. it probably did. my small gripe has nothing to do with being prompted or not being prompted however but with the fact folders were left there, not only windows.old but other folders as well. not quite what i call clean install. Chaos, obviously it can be done. folders and files should and are deletable. but it sure can be made easier. i did not have the mentioned option in disk cleanup utility, couldn't delete from elevated CMD eiher (as i said ownership was claimed). and i'm sure not going to wait till some bright day it decides to take care of itself as the room on that small SSD is a premium. done, but with more hoops that i would like ADD: huh, a notification window with "how satisfied are you with experience of upgrading" just showed up. going to rate it 4 and put out my comments in
  11. I managed to skip all the win8 stuff completely (had enough of it supporting my mom's win8 laptop). i guess i will need to move from trusty win7 with familiar GUI to this... I upgraded (clean install with nothing retained) my old gaming laptop to give win10 to see how it is. so far a can see that all the "eightishness"/ squareness is still there. my gripe is the mess with removing the windows.old folder and all the old app folders. after taking ownership and still getting "access denied" while trying to delete in elevated CMD i found the reg hack and managed to accomplish eventually. why did i need to do that ? wasn't it supposed to be a clean setup where Nothing old is kept? instead i got 90Gb of stuff retained on small older system SSD. removing all the leftovers (that i could think off) i'm down to ~28Gb of clean fresh windows. and there is already patches coming in...
  12. One more for the button. Ian I do remember what conserns you had with this from our private convo, but these are really moot. So consider to reconsider  this is to significant of a work to not earn any kind of compensation/reward for it
  13. Another vote for the 212 - solid. I guess I was itching an upgrade, replaced the 212 with a bigger push-pull setup for pretty much double the cost. And didn't see much difference (I'm not ino counting degret fractions). Wasn't a total waste as the 212 got moved to the older 2500K CPU and now doing good job there. But if money is not an issue the noctua units do look very impressive
  14. that's quite some weathered look there. i noticed that you glued the guide plates, i guess you don't plan on ever taking this apart :)
  15. Looking very good John! on both the ADI and the Ship model while it maybe not to difficult, it still takes dedication, time and effort. once again things coming up taking the time away from my build, so at least i can watch your progress.
  16. Dedicated section for pit building: http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=101 Lynx DM thread is the only one I can think of at the moment, there were more UFC projects listed before. I'm not sure what are you asking as far as best practices. I will be very obvious here: best practice is to have the panel and buttons made of non opacue material and have a light source behind :music_whistling: you saying that you already ordered the front panel, is it translucent? you will find quite a few ideas as far as material, light source and powering that light source. Since UFC also contains output element (MC button light) consider how you are going to implement that. Look into DCS BIOS thread (sticky) for combined input -output interface . Good luck
  17. Instead of separate posts consider using the edit post feature and ammend any additiinal info.. This way you will seriously cut down on scrolling and flipping pages. Was it dimebug who released drawibgs with just the basic outlines? I cant find those posts from mobile. But in any case, The very best option as far as files is to invest some time into learning how to draw these , either in CorelDraw or better yet in autocad (as it was mentioned in nearby thread student license is free). Dimebug has some panels missing from his set and if you want them you will need to draw them. As far as interfacing I believe you already seen DCS BIOS solution. I dont think it can be beat as far as versatility (and price) at the moment. Yes you will not get a ready solution, and as much as you don’t like to you will need to code stuff. But Ian bothered to make good tutorial and documentation for it. And again it will be very good time investment whether you going for all out serious pit or just some panels. Good luck
  18. the attached document was shared on this board before. i couldn't find the original post of the document's owner to link to so it is attached instead. credit goes to.. the name of the member escapes me, you know who you are, thanks :) and yes 7.75' is not 145mm but 146.05mm depending on how you build things can be quite critical. or not. 19. если требуется система для игр то и5/7 может быть и не надо. для ДКС и5/7 + зеленые видео карты без ваиантов. о чем собственно весь этот трэд.
  20. PSU us the one thing I would not skip on because that's the part that will determine whether all the other components going to get fried or not. Saving 50$ here might turn out really expencive. Quality 80+ sertified 450 watt unit probably will pull 960. For case on budget I would go for a Termaltake v3 . Inexpencive yet pretty good (and good looking) chassy.
  21. Ремонт полетного места после "ракетного попадания".
  22. Рамки thrustmaster cougar MFD http://mobile.thrustmaster.com/node/626
  23. Looking good there Callum. And about time :)
  24. The benq 1085 is a well known and reviewed with good scores. I'm not sure of screen brand or specs, it is a proper and recent motorized projection screen however, not bedsheet or wall . There was some ambiance light , but overall it was quite dark in that room... I'm still commited to projector setup, but was really not impressed with picture quality for now. Will be trying different settings, good to hear there is room for improvement, maybe it will be better with my painted on screen. Toronto is not that far. Maybe I will visit some day )
