  1. Is this an nvidia issue or just that running dual screen @ 1080p get close to 2gb vram? Has anyone got any numbers on vram vs screen res? Chaz, thanks, I have never done that. Might test it on my AMD before I replace it. cheers
  2. pretty much have had the white blobs for 6 months, and lately, getting flashing textures etc. The performance is average and always has been. Certainly cant turn up the detail, maybe my card is a lemon. great news! thanks for the link!
  3. I've finally got sick of the blobs and graphical issues and have a 680 on the way. I run a dual monitor setup with helios etc as per my sig youtube clip. What would be the best way to remove AMD drivers and install the nvidia? Also does anyone have any tips on setting up the 680, driver version is best, driver tweeks etc? Its been a couple of years away from nvidia and would like to get straight into some decent gaming framerates. thanks
  4. on this topic, can a card like gtx680 run 2 monitors off display port? I'm switching from 6950 as it just doesnt perform and like using display port.
  5. What OS is everyone using? I'm still on win7 with no issues and have been thinking of updating to Win8 but fear I'm heading into a minefield getting things working again. cheers
  6. Good review, yes. His conclusion is nice, short and on the money. Yes, they could wait for things to be resolved but at this rate you would never read a review on it..
  7. any way to keep your pilot log from BS2 and A10 when moving to DCSW?
  8. thanks for the awesome guide.. I was skeptical at first but now I have used JSGME I cant imagine life without it..
  9. yes good question and in reality, I could do that for freetrack. However, programs like helios, VAC and target run different profiles depending of what aircraft is flown. So they must be reloaded differently depending on those conditions. I'm pretty happy with this little batch file, it really simplifies it. :) at some point soon I'll bundle all my different profiles for those programs and put them in user files area.
  10. thanks for the tips, I'm having a go at a DOS script. In the process I finally figured out running target script via commandline :) edit: got it working really nice. Thanks to the combined export.lua made it less mucking around also. @echo off color 0A title Start DCS World. echo Welcome, %USERNAME% echo Start up Freetrack? set /p choice="Enter your choice: " if "%choice%"=="n" goto start start "Starting Freetrack" /B "FreeTrack v2.2.lnk" ping localhost /n 2 cls :start cls echo Welcome, %USERNAME% echo What would you like to do? echo. echo 1. 11. I have finally switched fully over to DCS World. My setup includes helios, freetrack, target and now cmd scripts to copy/move files depending on what I fly ie: A10 or BS for helios exports. Now, its getting to be a real pain to start all these programs and batch scripts, does anyone have a program or way to cleanly start and run all these items required to run DCS? One thing I have never managed is to get target to run a config script from the command line, is this possible? thanks.
  12. thanks for the tip. I found it, installed the old crap so I could install the module. I dont know the back-story, but really, what a joke. Similar thing with BS2 upgrade.
  13. same problem here, just installed 1.2.2 and now cant get BS2 to activate. I deleted the reg keys for BS2 but now I get the error telling me my serial number is wrong.. pasted straight from DCS order history.. ridiculous. edit: got it working...
  14. whats the point of early buyer discount if you dont already own earlier version of lockon? I'd love to buy into it but cant. qoute: Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 3 will require an installation of Lock On: Modern Air Combat or previous version Flaming Cliffs.
  15. I've found VAC a bit frustrating also, the main thing I did was make sure the mike is in the best position and reduce outside sounds. Also, training the voice recognition seems to help alot. for activation, I use the arm. I have my TMW setup to send the ingame radio switch keys, then the keystrokes to arm VAC. Works great. I also set the mic-up to arm VAC also for those multiple radio commands you always seem to need. I did some other mappings for when VAC just doesnt want to work properly also.
  16. yes its a deep plunge going into the Campaign. There are other discussions about how to play these correctly. There is a bunch of stuff not covered anywhere you need to understand, such as SEAD, CAP and use of the F10 radio menu to be effective. The main thing I have learnt is to read the brief and stick to my mission plan, call in the CAP when I get air threats and talk to my JTACs about targets. I have never seen video's doing a walkthrough, its not a bad idea actually and would make it all alot more accessible. Obviously you could learn all this playing multiplayer and that way you can ask questions :)
  17. http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/stories/3453196.htm Somehow I don't think the wife will approve the purchase.. looks awesome and its easy to see it dominating the niche market!
  18. yeah your right. I got 16gb as it was so rediculously cheap. I ran a ramdisk for VM and temp files but ended up having issues with some software installs that didnt like the ramdisk for temp files. I still run a pagefile on it. It is lightning fast. I do lots of photo editing but 8GB would be fine for that.
  19. If 16GB is not much more then why not.. but yes, its enough at this point in time for most things. Cooling is definitely a critical part of the chain. I'd suggest one of the top air-coolers. FWIW I use a ASROCK Z68 gen3. Great board, nice and cheap and no fancy crap I'll never use included. (they are made by ASUS) cheers
  20. If you installed the Target programming suite there is a much better device watcher available in that to see everything is working as expected. Otherwise, Win7 device properties will show you the basics. I've never used the TMW plug-and-play but in my profile I have to set the "curves and scale" so the slew works as expected. cheers
  21. Do you own one, I'm guessing not.. Like anything, your not going to get people coming to a forum starting threads about how much they like a product and how trouble-free it is. Its always the people with issue or complaint, so its not a representative section of the population unfortunately. btw, My TMW were the best $450 I've spent on my simulator setup. to the OP, good luck, hope you get it sorted asap!
  22. you need to run the EXE file to install it. You cannot open the bin files themselves.
  23. I'll echo the above points. The A10 is easy to fly but hard to learn to fully exploit the weapons and targeting systems. Bs weapons are easy but the damn Shark sometimes has a mind of its own and always throws up surprises at the worst possible times :) hmm, I must get back into the shark..
  24. Invisibull, ah ok the Z markpoint makes sense.. thanks. I've noticed with some JTAC datapoints once I do a WILCO the CNC disapears.. not sure why, but it can get very cluttered with multiple points, especially in the campagnes. cheers
