where was this tutorial last year when I was bumbling through the TAD :) great tutorial.. especially liked the hook mode for finding and marking bullseye calls. Any thoughts on some of the symbols like little white triangle with a Z? I see this quite often but no idea what it is. Is it possible to delete previous JTAC data points from the tad once you have completed the task? cheers

I personally prefer setting stick sensitivity using Target. That way I can have normal sensitivity then switch it for refueling / precision formations etc. There is no limit to the range of setting using target unlike setting it "in sim" The problem with setting a curve for the throttle is it gets very sensitive away from centre so you probably need to use the brake alot more to stay in the sweet spot.

cagrimes, keep in mind, if you are doing an "instant action" mission nearly all the weapons system will be ready to go. Just select mavs, target and shoot. Whereas anything where you take off you will have to configure the weapons to be ready. Its a steep learning curve, but that is 1/2 the fun :)

you could try SofTH and see if it helps. You can run the game fullscreen with helios that way. However, I think if you want that sort of configuration you will need to upgrade the CPU.

if your slewing the mav around it will eventually lock on a valid target providing you are in range. Maybe you have not selected the mav's in DSMS? Have you done your FENCE checks? the TMS up short is used for when you are slaving the mav to a SPI (TGT Pod is the best way IMO)

yes something like that. For example, if you forget to enable something on the startup, it tells you its a fail and what it was, you can rectify it and continue the mission. Obviously you have failed but at least you can continue and learn something. The biggest frustration is the lack of flexibility and clear instruction. Its literally learning by your mistakes atm. its a fine line between being enjoyable and frustrating! In the real world there is no room for error but you just cant simulate that progression and two way communication here. Edit: I was just thinking if you have 2 versions of each mission, 1 which is a training scenario, working through the manouvers, timings etc then the actual "exam" mission. I think this is the crux of the problem, trying to learn whilst doing the exam.. cheers

The one thing I'd like to see is the ability to continue through the mission until the end even if you have failed or not completed something correctly. cheers

to make a preset file create a folder in your miz file like: UHF then put a file called settings.lua with this inside (edit as needed): the other radios are VHF_AM and VHF_FM cheers

Finally got round to trying AAR. Was quite a challenge learning the right "zone" to connect in but once I got used to placing the tanker in the top part of the canopy and ignoring the HUD and tube it wasnt that bad. Awesome to get the "Transfer complete" audio for the first time. Thanks for the tips!

if you dont need enhanced shifting, buttons etc then Polecat's suggestion is the best. You cant just remap 1 button, you have to do them all in target! Not that its a bad thing... Target is awesome if you want to get more out of your sticks like controlling different curve profiles, trackIR and anything else!

Once we get all the info we can all make a rational choice about if "we" think its worth it. I certanly look forward to clips and demo's that showcase what this mod does and will not hesitate to invest in it if I like it.. edit: oh and it wont surprise me this time if I get more negative rep for supporting a payware openly on the forum edit2: Diveplane, Will your sound mod be available in an enhanced format for those of us running a "buttkicker"? That would be very cool! :)

maybe.. I find the logbook (a genuine one) can be a bit crushing to the ego already :)

any tips on making a spring or getting one made? what are the measurements required. A local company can make custom springs but I have no idea of load in Newtons etc that would be required. I'd be very keen on getting a spring with a little bit less force.

yes, its batami so thats the direction you are "ment" to land 13 from memory. I agree, if its an emergency you should be able to land anyway as long as its safe. Agree on the frustration factor, it gets more as you get further through, I only made it to #6 before I gave up.. sadly.

thanks, nice clean list. Very nice. Only thing I noticed I do different is I like to arm the seat right after turning on radios. Not sure how they do it RL but would make sense to have it ready in case of catastrophic problem on startup :)

Yep, what PeterP said.. They will ask you to provide a video of the problem before they will do anything tho. I have a problem with my pinky switch, its doesnt "click" in the forward position.. I dont have the capacity to video record so didnt do anything more about it as it still works (for now).
