With the release of the Iraq map, it looks like we have mapped out a good chunk of the area between Egypt and parts of Iran. As DCS now has some code that enables developers to split a map into different regions and gives users the option to fly a low-resolution version of a sub-map they don't have, it would be nice to have a Mideast Map that is built from the Sinai, Syria, Iraq, and Persian Gulf Maps. I know different developers are working on the different maps I don't know enough about the contracts to know if that would be an issue. I could understand there might be technical limits as the combined middle east map would be huge. Although those issues aside it would be cool to have a single map that combines all the Mid-East maps.

I'd agree that ED's biggest problem at times appears to be the lack of focus. I think the DCS community might be partially to blame for that. Collectivly we've got a thousand different wish lists and sometimes out priorities change. Some of that is just the nature of the sim. I don't think a subscription model could fix that, in fact, I could see it making things worse. If DCS goes completely subscription there are people who would stop using it, if it is an optional subscription then DCS would need to make it worth the price. Even if they had the optional subscription model, there is the issue of whether ED can determine the community's priorities. I don't see ED abandoning EA. I'm fine with EA as the alternative to EA is to not have modules.

I've said it before atillery in general needs to be improved. First we need dual-purpose guns next we need an FO/spotter

There are two issues at play. I don't think either of us knows the answer to any of them. First, what would the ED name do to the price? The second is whether or not ED or a model company produced data the other could share. You can be sure that model companies produce a bunch of files when designing their kits, the question though is if any of that could be used to produce an AI asset by ED. If any data could be shared then I could see how an arrangement could benefit both companies.
-
The entire point of the licensing agreement would be to have some model company produce the kits. Also the licensing agreement would state that if there are CAD files / 3d renderings that could be used to produce both a kit and an AI asset ED and the model company would share them
-
Ideally they work out a licencing agreement with some model manufacturer, that would keep the costs down. As for incentives, first the models would qualify for mile points and there would be a discount code when there is a module and model for a given aircraft (or other vehicle).
-
Agreed, I for one would love to see some ED-branded model kits especially if the files used to create the kits could be used to produce assets.
-
I've suggested something similar the name I recommended was fleet ops. As others would point out you would not only need a good interface but also an improved damage model and more units. Though I would expect ED to work on all that while doing the interface.

Dittos, -
Dittos on that, unless things drastically change I don't expect to see any flyable modern RedFor, but for PVE and single scenario we might have enough information for AI assets.

Mod manager Integration in new DCS launcher
upyr1 replied to T24_Martin's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Roger that, after all some of us love to play on the same server all the time. -
Agreed I have said this multiple times. I would love to see ED focus on adding some assets that overlap with the I-16 and MiG-15. These have both been in DCS for a while and exist in an asset desert. Also I'd love to see the Overlord invasion fleet
-
I'm hoping they will add some of the AI form the dynamic campaign to do this

Mod manager Integration in new DCS launcher
upyr1 replied to T24_Martin's topic in DCS Core Wish List
My mod wishlist 1. A mod manager that will work with the user file section as a repository Ideally there would be the option to add other repositories 2. a filter in DCS that will allow us to hide servers that require a mod or asset pack we don't have -
This would be nice when you want a symmetric payload.

Mod manager Integration in new DCS launcher

I can see the argument against including a mod manager in the launcher, but how about a semi-official open-source mod manager? -
Any chance of having the AI dispatch resupply helicopters and trucks?

I'd love to see the Conie warning star and other old AWACs for cold war scenarios

I loved seeing the option to change an Arelgh-Burke-class destroyer's load out. This is one of the items on my ship wishlist. I hope to see it added to the Ticos. There are still quite a few items on the list. A quick review of my top naval wish list items are as follows The ability to have ground units spawn from amphibious assault ships The ability to load landing craft with troops and vehicles hovercraft More ships for all factions (Celmet and Vietnam Essex battlegroups for the F-8, 1980s BB surface action group, Soviet/Russian destroyers, cruisers and amphibious landing ships, overlord and Marians fleets for WWII) The ability to target different guns air and land-based forward observers for fire missions dual purpose guns better damage models

I know ED says they are working a dynamic campaign but could we see elements get added to the mission editor?

My Harrier wish list Hawker/Av-8A -if there can only be one then something used by both the raf and usmc. If nothing fits that then whatever variant is the most numerous out of the two closest. Sea Harrier- my main concern here is the variant used in the falklands AV-8II plus the main difference between this and the b we already have is that it uses a variant of the APG-65 radar and AMRAAMs. We already have 2 planes with the apg-65 and AMRAAMs so I think ot would work as a stand in for the Sea Harrier we can't get.
-
I'd love to have the Super Entendard and Clemencu carrier battlegroup it would go well with the F-8. The Crusader we have in the works might not be the right version for the French Navy but it would be passable so pair it with the Super Entendeard and a French carrier battle group

More surface ships for more varied naval scenarios.
upyr1 replied to ThexLoneWolf2020's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I request more ships quite a lot. We have a passable Vietnam to early 2000s carrier airwing in the works and we need the correct ships. For the most part I don't see the what ifs being anything but community add-ons. Though I think you could give the IOWAs and ALASKAs would make decent stand-ins for the Soviet Soyuz and STALINGRADsI don't know what all is going to be added in the way of WWII ships but here is a brief summery of my wishlist though WWII- the overlord invasion fleet The ships involved with the Marianas campaign What-if scenario ships BISMARK, Alaska, Dutchlands Any axis ship that was operational and transferred to the Soviet Navy would be great for cold war what ifs Cold war - DesMoines Class heavy cruiser Baltimore- Guided missile cruiser conversion Long Beach 1960s configuration Forestal ENTERPRISE angled deck Essex French carrier battlegroup for the F-8 Royal Navy carrier strike group Tiger-class cruiser HMS Vanguard ---- -
The AGM-46B and the Starm would both be awesome

I just saw this, I was thinking it would be nice to see a better flight model and graphics
