I may have asked this before, but does anyone know if a plane's EW suite changes how the AI deploys weapons? For example, if I have an AI F-16 with an HTS and an AI f-16 without, would they get different amounts of data about the radars they detect?

KA-3 would be great for carrier ops We need a B-52 with a tail gun. The B-52s used in Vietnam were the D model which had a quad .50 the G and H were used in Desert storm the G was the last one with a quad 50 and the H had a vulcan until it was removed Also some soldiers in OD-107 for US Army and South Vietnam. I'd also toss in NATO troops The Phalanx was introduced into the fleet in the 1980s, the Iowas each had 4 of them in the 1980s anyway this thread I go through a list of candidates of ships I'd like to see added to cover the Vietnam era to the 1990s. . Napalm would be a given for WWII even. As for cold war- I'd also like to see Korean War era equipment as well. Right now we have the F-86, F-51, MiG-15 and we need more. I'd love to have the F-84, F-80, IL-10, then T-34 and Red Assets. I've said it before I'd really like to see ED and the other developers to focus on Red Assets that could do double duty for WWII and the Early cold war. (just draw a vin diagram of Red Army equipment service lives and focus where the Il-16 and MiG-15 overlap

That's exactly what I meant when I stated that what matters is what information is officially available. Only open-source information is officially available not the leaks you find on the forum with a snail logo
-
I'd also add anything in WWII and the Korean war except the I-16 and MiG-15

If we get ecm planes I want the eb-66
-
The real issue isn't just what is available but what is available officially. Some company with a snail logo is known to have people leak documents. I'd love to have more modern Russian planes and helicopters

We need the later ships as well, this is the WWII wish list

The closest thing I could see us getting to the Su-30 would be the community module, as we don't have enough information The Flanker is off the table, however the SU-17, and Su-22 have both been announced and we might be able to get enough information for an early Su-24 and MiG-27. As much as I would love an up to date Flanker of Fulcrum I don't think it will happen however the Fitter, Fencer and Flogger would fill in gaps for historic missions

While you can't pause a server, there are a lot of servers out there where people connect fly random sorties then one side or the other gets declared the victor. I could see why a server like this might like a mega map but I also see the potential problems. Any way you don't need to use very last inch of the map to make it worth having you would just need a mission that crosses some point where the maps meet. The first objection I could see someone having is that a mega map would just eat a ton of resources.

These are two reasons I could see the idea not working, as the maps would be huge and some care would need to be taken to get them seamless. The map developer would really need to corodinate I don't know enough about the tech side to say one way or the other I think this would be necessary for any large mission. If this idea is doable I think it would benefit multiplayer the most.
-
If you don't mind a loading screen, it would work for a single-player mission. Anyway as to how to work with the devs there are two issues at play first is how many developers are involved and second how much overlap is there between the maps. ED is developing the following maps- Persian Gulf, Iraq, so the only reason not to link those two would be ram requirements. Sinai is Urga and Syria is One Retech. The first question with these maps is how much (inhabited) overlap is there? As that would take some coordination to make the maps seamless.

more assets in general would be nice.

With the release of the Iraq map, it looks like we have mapped out a good chunk of the area between Egypt and parts of Iran. As DCS now has some code that enables developers to split a map into different regions and gives users the option to fly a low-resolution version of a sub-map they don't have, it would be nice to have a Mideast Map that is built from the Sinai, Syria, Iraq, and Persian Gulf Maps. I know different developers are working on the different maps I don't know enough about the contracts to know if that would be an issue. I could understand there might be technical limits as the combined middle east map would be huge. Although those issues aside it would be cool to have a single map that combines all the Mid-East maps.

I'd agree that ED's biggest problem at times appears to be the lack of focus. I think the DCS community might be partially to blame for that. Collectivly we've got a thousand different wish lists and sometimes out priorities change. Some of that is just the nature of the sim. I don't think a subscription model could fix that, in fact, I could see it making things worse. If DCS goes completely subscription there are people who would stop using it, if it is an optional subscription then DCS would need to make it worth the price. Even if they had the optional subscription model, there is the issue of whether ED can determine the community's priorities. I don't see ED abandoning EA. I'm fine with EA as the alternative to EA is to not have modules.

I've said it before atillery in general needs to be improved. First we need dual-purpose guns next we need an FO/spotter

There are two issues at play. I don't think either of us knows the answer to any of them. First, what would the ED name do to the price? The second is whether or not ED or a model company produced data the other could share. You can be sure that model companies produce a bunch of files when designing their kits, the question though is if any of that could be used to produce an AI asset by ED. If any data could be shared then I could see how an arrangement could benefit both companies.
-
The entire point of the licensing agreement would be to have some model company produce the kits. Also the licensing agreement would state that if there are CAD files / 3d renderings that could be used to produce both a kit and an AI asset ED and the model company would share them
-
Ideally they work out a licencing agreement with some model manufacturer, that would keep the costs down. As for incentives, first the models would qualify for mile points and there would be a discount code when there is a module and model for a given aircraft (or other vehicle).
-
Agreed, I for one would love to see some ED-branded model kits especially if the files used to create the kits could be used to produce assets.
-
I've suggested something similar the name I recommended was fleet ops. As others would point out you would not only need a good interface but also an improved damage model and more units. Though I would expect ED to work on all that while doing the interface.
