As said before, it is best to pick a group to fly with and just talk to them, most people will help you out. I myself love teaching the a-10, it'S an awesome plane. :) http://spare-time-pilots.de/ I fly there all the time, get answers all the time and there is plenty to do most of the time. Casual but no noobstyle herp derp bullshit. Common sense really.

Exactly. AI needs to be active for a bit before it can be turned off. I once did a mistake where I activated a group and turned off their AI in the SAME TRiGGER and the AI never deactivated. So what I did was wait 3 seconds and then turn off their AI, it worked fine. :)

Probably the one where you can only have escort (and maybe follow, I am not sure) only on the FIRST waypoint of agroup, basically their initial wayppoint. You can not have them travel a bit and THEN start escorting something, right?
-
BE CAREFUL WITH DISABLE AI though - it will only work if you give the game a few seconds after activating the group. I once did following - group late activation. My trigger was like this: if X then: -activate group -group AI off And it did not work, the AI was always on. So what I did next was: -activate group -flag X on then -time since flag X 2 seconds -> disable AI.

Oh come on man. People, really now, get some brains working. You're in a forum. When people have trouble they will use forum search and find your thread perhaps. They will go "hell yeah! no need to post a new thread since there is this one already" and all the will find is: Come on man. That's no help. Explain what you did, I am interested in this as well!

Great work and props for modding DCS. But I gotta give honest criticism - the streaks exiting the engine are too sharp, too thin and there are too many. I have never seen a video or picture where the afterburner cone was that sharp.

Count me in for the next mission. I fly the A-10. :) Sounds very promising!

I learned my lesson about not posting tracks and yelling at the testers to reproduce it themselves. It will not fix anything. There is nothing better than a track for a tester. He downloads it, watches what YOU do (camera movements etc. that should show off the bug) and confirms and reports it. Thats so much faster than freaking getting into the ME, building for 10min, testing, tweaking and then after 30 min you got a track of a bug although you could have the same result by simply downloading a track and watching it - 10 min of work vs. 30 of work. Just post a track.. I am creating a mission right now to show off this bug, will post track later.

Proper track attached now. Sorry for the inconvinience.

Hey guys, I created a test mission where I tried to simulate a very very very busy airfield... So what I predicted happened - at SOME point the AI is gonna screw up and a taxi way is gonna get blocked. Watch at around 150 seconds. You will see that that special group of A-10s has issues finding the right path... the 2nd plane just holds there blocking the rest of the aircrafts. BEWARE - VERY LOW FRAME RATE when looking at the action!!! So just look somewhere where there is nothing going on and wait a bit... EDIT: WHOOOPS GUYS, sorry WRONG TRACK!!! EDIT2: Alright, proper track attached now! Sorry. aiTAXI.trk

Yo guys. I can not have tankers start off the runway right now because of some weird bug that makes them have a RAMP start instead of a runway start... I even blew myself up once due to an awacs being spawned right on my ramp position... Track with mission inside attached. server-20121116-154959.trk

Amazing mission, thank you so much! I played it yesterday and had a BLAST! :) Awesome! I love the dynamic weather that you used in this. The winds are a bit too crazy for me but the overall atmosphere is awesome.

I found the TGP to be much more responsive in "every frame" mode. You can make smaller adjustments with it, which is awesome. Do you know how many frames it take to get a new TGP picture in non every-frame mode?

Hey guys, in the manual it says: Alright. Usually it's enough to put the boat switch into center position and just TMS up short to lock something. Problem though - how do you return to "normal" tracking mode? Just putting the boat switch fwd/aft does not do anything. The only thing that works is putting boat switch out of center WHILE slewing the maverick around... I think this is a bug. Or is it real life operation? Funny - have the maverick in force correlate mode, then put the boat switch in a non center position (ctrl+D for example). It will stay in force correlate mode. Now slew the maverick around and press ctrl+D again, you will not see the boat switch move because it already is in that position but the maverick will leave force correlate mode. That makes me think that this is a bug. Some real life input on this anyone? I attached a track showing the weird behaviour of the boat switch. (Weird to me at least). Look how at the end the boat switch is NOT in center, but the MAV stays in force correlate mode until I start slewing it around and then pressing the keys again. Thanks a lot in advance! maverick_leaveForceCorrelate.trk

It just sounded like you are advertising YOUR way of floating the boat as the general way of awesome gameplay. Like it's the best shit out there. That set me off. Especially with a new CoD coming out... Meh. I didnt want to offend anybody it just was exactly what I didnt expect to see haha. -
Realistic route to target distances
Megagoth1702 replied to Megagoth1702's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
It's 10 min to IP, then from there 10-15 min to each task. -
Hey guys, I am currently tinkering around on a mission where A-10s have to get to a specific point in order to get their tasking. Usual stuff. Now what I am wondering is - what would be realistic distances from "get task location" to "task location"? I am no big fan of seriuos missions where everything is within 10-20nm, I like a nice, long route. But what if that is completely unrealistic? Currently most of my objectives are 20-50nautical miles away, flying there never takes more than 15 minutes, so I dont see a big deal in this. But is this realistic? Thanks a lot in advance folks!

Yep, have to look yourself. It is pretty hard to do at first but you get better at it over time. :)

RANT INCOMING This is not DCS Call Of Duty. If you do that and end up flyng back in chunks - you did it wrong. Nah man, all that uber action shit belongs to CoD. This is a simulation and although you can have some risky and easy fun with it is not designed to be like that. What it causes is: -people running 6 mavericks and other horrible gear that really hurts the a-10's flight characteristics -people having a small attention span, they dont pay enough attention to briefing and notes, and wonder why the mission failed. all they want is "go there, shoot that" -overall skill is not improving because all that "go there shoot that" stuff does not require much thought. people like that are mostly unable to find targets by looking outside, which plays a major role in certain scenarios where coordinates or datalink is not available and other stuff. Obviously there are these who find it a bit boring and then dive deeper into the material and trn out to be proper "pilots" but these are rare. Look at the amount of people who dont even know the forums and/or play singleplayer only. DCS A-10 should be promoted for it's realism and simulation depth, which is fascinating enough. Not for how ****ed up you can return home after doing incredibly unrealistic scenarios. -
Yep Hideout - best newbie COOP mission ever. :)

Yep, really annoying that they dont annouce themselves...
