Fair enough. No worries!

I never use the F10 map for anything if I can help it. I don't use the tankers speed to find them. Because I build missions and have refueled hundreds if not thousands of times, I know generally the speed they are traveling and usually use RV Charlie or Delta from NATO STANDARD ATP-3.3.4.2 AIR-TO-AIR REFUELLING ATP-56 (modified for use in DCS). I don't know where you got the idea that I use the F10 map, or that I have bad habbits lol.

Lets end all the confusion. There are 3 US carriers either being updated or created to compliment upcoming modules. The Tarawa for the harrier, the Stennis for the hornet, and the Forestall for the tomcat. The carriers will be added to the main DCS files for free to everyone. This is partly due to multiplayer requirements. There are no paid carriers.

It helps having an idea of the tankers speed when approaching for RV was my point. You can't look at a tanker visually and tell from a couple miles out.

I wasn't trying to start an argument like the other user claimed. But the KC-130 by default has a 325 ground speed for tanking and it only goes up to like 336 or something. The viking can be set a little higher 340-350gs. Knowing that, on your approach to the tanker. At some point on the approach compare your own groundspeed to your KIAS and you can have a rough idea of what the tankers KIAS is going to be. At about 4NM to the tanker start slowing your closure rate to roughly 60kts overtake. At about .8NM - 1NM drop the closure rate to about 30kts. That should get you close enough for good visual references on overtake. It should allow you to form up on the tanker without overshooting.

You can do it if you fly a good profile. But even the NATOPS manual warns against any sudden changes in pitch.
-
Yeah there's a dark spot if you look over your right shoulder. Kept thinking I had a bandit on my tail the other day.
-
It's not a prohibited maneuver because the aircraft will disintegrate. It's prohibited because it CAN lead to a departure from controlled flight which may or may not be recoverable. Since the harriers are on the deck a great deal any departure could lead to death pretty quickly.
-
LOL this is it. Doing prohibited maneuvers will lead to issues.

CCRP works IF you can fly a decent profile on it. It isn't ground stabilized so if you roll left or right even pointed right at the target the aimpoint indications vary wildly. It doesn't work remotely correct and has been broken for almost a year.
-
No issues? I don't believe you. CCRP bomb fall line not ground stabilized. AGM-65G uncommon but occasional bug where the seeker head image is the moving map. AGM-122 so riddled with bugs it's not even funny. Shoots gun when you have a lock. No lock tone when you do have a lock. Having to cycle guns in between sidearm shots (and cycling doesn't even fix it every time). Refusing to lock in general. And that's not including some of the things to get it up to par with how it works on the actual harrier. The gbu-12's and mk-80 series has nothing wrong with the bombs themselves, but CCRP is so broken that it's a pain to use gbu's from any sort of altitude. Rockeyes dispersal pattern is so broken they are useless, and they do absolutely no damage. There are a lot of issues.

Aside from the fact that you can get an idea of closure speed, and comparing it to indicated you can have a very accurate estimate of the tankers speed. Sure, completely useless /s.

No. Look at the charts in your kneeboard. Kobuleti runway 07 for instance is a course of 064 degrees.

But if you are even slightly asymmetrical your roll trim needs to be adjusted with every airspeed change, like the A-10. We are talking about roll trim. A change in airspeed means a change in drag and lift on the lighter wing verses the heavy wing that needs to be trimmed out. This is how all planes fly including the F-18. If you fire one AAM off of one wing and not the other you will be trimming your roll for every change in airspeed.

[NO BUG] AIM-120C stuck in Visual Mode
defeatist99 replied to Sandman1330's topic in Bugs and Problems
Can confirm this happened to me today but it was with 120B. Tried cycling everything. Don't know if it's related but my radar was also constantly giving a shoot cue at the bottom of the mfd. Same issue. Stuck in visual mode. I could still lock targets and shoot them but the symbology was stuck. -
Your speed will effect roll trim as well. If you trim it level at 350 kts it wont be trimmed for level at 400 kts. Are you sure you are maintaining speed through turns and climbs? Because that is probably what's happening.

Is this for a squadron or just wanting to fly missions for fun? I'm down to fly but I am already currently in a harrier squadron.
-
They implemented this again as part of the options (it was an option a few years ago). You don't have to edit the .lua file anymore.
-
I've had this issue frequently as well. It seems to be intermittent as far as it goes. It stays once loaded in the aircraft. But it doesn't happen on every load.
-
I would just be glad to have the ones we have actually work.
-
The other thing I noticed is that when the RWR lock tone is emitted it somewhat mutes the aircraft sound. As in the aircraft/engine at the same throttle setting would get quieter.

Wasn't trying to be grumpy friend. It was a shitty joke lol.
