  1. Limited Budget: Saitek X52, maybe the Pro version and maybe their Rudder pedals. Not so tightly limited budget: CH Products stick, throttle and pedals. Unlimited Budget: Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar with Realsimulator FSSB force sensor mod, Cubpilot´s Throttle Hall sensor mod, Simped F-16/C pedals. ...or better... (Not a joystick, but highly recommended: Naturalpoint Track IR 4.) Only my personal recommendation, I will discuss pros and cons of the individual pieces on request but not participate in fanbois battles.
  2. Ok, I was wrong, he managed to kill the bird without demonstrating the survival systems... Great display, Frazer!
  3. You´ll do just fine anyway, trust me. To make the connection between the Russian labelling as represented in the manual and the English one in your cockpit is not much of an intellectual stretch...
  4. That's why there will be also a presentation of the sophisticated ejection and blade separating system, combined with fireworks, as grande finale of the display...;) j/k
  5. All still in Russian, since this is the default, or "real" cockpit design. There are no two versions of the english manual, one with pics from Russian instrument and button labelling and one with English. Only Russian.
  6. Dell 3007WFP 30" @ 2560 x 1600 and luvin'it.
  7. Good for you and good choice! As I said, there are good X52 prices to be found for those who search a little. You´ve gotten yourself and upgrade over the Aviator that is worth much more than $15. As a starting point for programming your new set you can use this profile by 3Sqn_Prophet as a starting point. However, everybody has to find his own optimum for an ergonomic setup.
  8. Problem is, there are two "map" versions currently active in Black Shark. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the game engine and the F10 view use a grid system and geographic representation that is flat because it is old code from LockOn days. Flat, and no difference between geographic and magnetic north poles, no deviation or variation. The new mission editor already uses curved grids in preparation for a later curved earth surface representation to be introduced with some later DCS module. Therefore we now have the error or "bug", that if one reads a track from the editor map and flies that course over ground in the game engine, he will end way off from where he wanted to go. To your question: The best maps for navigation in BS are currently screenshots of the F10 view, since what you see there is what you fly over in the game engine. For LockOn there were those maps at quite useable resolution done by community members. For the partly new BS world this work remains to be done. Any reallife map of the region will lead to grave navigational errors.
  9. and open door, even if just for effect.
  10. The mission builder can force all clients to fly in sim or all in arcade mode by setting the mission options in the editor. If nothing is set there, clients joining this mission can use any settings of their own choice.
  11. It´s always helpful for others in the future with the same question to share your solution as well than just stating "got it".
  12. 3Sqn_Prophet linked his X52 profile here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=34864&page=2
  13. Yes, pity is, you´re limited to Mk.1 Eyeball sensor, with only slight help from a 7x and 23x TV enhancement or a crapy NVG. If you fly singleplayer, you can use your wingmen, send them ahead to do some recon. Online, good luck finding someone stupid enough to do it for you...:smilewink: Did I mention trees tactically working against you in the current release? Good preplanning is your friend. Collect as many info as possible from the briefing text and maps and build a tactical gameplan. Memorize or note down known and estimated enemy positions, judge terrain against threat envelopes and come up with the best tactic. The seven "P"s of aviation: Prior Preparation and Planning Prevents Piss-Poor Performance. And then find out how true the old saying is: "No plan, however good, survives the first shots fired in a war."
  14. What a helpfull forum, almost overkill... *pats on shoulders* for all!
  15. Do you put the Vikhr circle over or at least close to the smaller Shkval reticle? You have to in order to get the "C". Unfortunately the Shark needs to be pointed quite precisely as a whole to get off a Vikhr... And the launch button has to be depressed a little longer than usual. EDIT: Ok, you beat me.
  16. Now we´re talking cheap, yeah!:megalol:
  17. The question was about veeeeery much less expensive stuff than that setup... So, are you showing off or is that earnestly your minimum controller hardware recommendation for BS?
  18. LOL Some other questions on the localized (German or else) version: - Will the cockpit labeling be translated as well or stay chooseable only between Russian and English? - How about in-game AI voice (wingmen, ATC etc.)? - English only, German only, or selectable (which would be best, of course!)?
  19. I found'em: ...\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Temp\ Thanks for the hint!
  20. Similar question: Im LockOn it was possible for a client to save the mission he joined from a running server. In case of hosting issues, this was a great way to share the same mission amongst clients so that different people could try to host it. Is there a way in Black Shark for a client to save the mission from the server he´s connected to?
  21. Right, those for the X and Y axis are Hall sensors, but the centering springs, buttons, coolies, sliders and rotaries can and do wear out. There´s a reason why many people I know switched to X52 Pro after "wrecking" their X52s after 2-3 years of extensive use. But still, if you don´t use it 5 hours every day, the standard X52 will serve you well for a long time and it is a great value for money for a first flight setup buy.
  22. I would look hard for the best price of a Saitek X52 set, maybe even used, if in good condition and not worn out. You will end up paying more than for a new Aviator, but what you get in handling value easily surpasses the percentage of money you spent more.
  23. Maybe to few stick time for the real Russian drivers? Maybe also that it´s required to steady your vodka-shaky hands from last night at the o-club... ;)
  24. Try Internet Explorer, Firefox still seems to have some issues. Read also here: http://forum.virtual-airshows.com/index.php/topic,165.0.html @ll: Check out the schedule , the action is on until Sunday evening. Have a great aerobatics weekend!
  25. It happens to me as well from time to time that the mouse wheel suddenly zooms in cockpit despite not being assigned to do so. In this case, I go to an outside view (F2 or F11) and zoom there with the wheel, afterwards back in pit the wheel ceased zooming again. Russian and English version alike. Feature or bug?:music_whistling:
