  1. So much for "stealth" huh? :music_whistling: Off to Google, that sounds pretty interesting. :smartass:
  2. I know I don't arm the seat until I'm out of the HAS. Don't wanna end up as a greasy spot on the ceiling...
  3. Holy crap. I'm glad to be on the delivery side of the BLU-108, I'll tell you that much.
  4. Yeah, but followed by "imaginary airplanes", which makes us all sound cRazY! :music_whistling:
  5. One more thing to check is that your throttle's idle is REALLY idle. I was wondering why my landing roll outs were long, and why I'd start taxiing during start up; then I checked the axis settings and found out I needed to add a bit of deadzone.
  6. I turned the labels off after I got used to the plane and haven't really thought about it a whole lot since then. I do get shot down a lot though... :) Finding the AA in or near a vehicle group isn't usually very difficult, I just have issues with getting tagged by the random strelas or manpads that hide out in the middle of nowhere. Those guys are really sneaky! :P
  7. After flying a full motion simulator and gaining an appreciation for the "feeling" of flight that they're capable of, I keep dreaming up ideas to build a full motion pit in my basement.:joystick:
  8. I finally got around to doing the magnet and spring mods... I used this method: http://www.overclock.net/t/541354/fixed-the-crapness-of-the-x52 And holy crap, let me tell you what... it made a WORLD of difference. The stick is now virtually pressure sensitive. Right after buttoning the stick back together I jumped into an instant action mission and IMMEDIATELY noticed a huge difference when I did a gun run on the trucks. Like I said, the stick is nearly pressure sensitive now; making fine corrections to the flight path is a thousand times better than before. If you haven't done this mod, do it today!! Now, I think there's a tanker out there somewhere I have to go rendezvous with. :joystick:
  9. I have an X52 and a MS FFB2, and I really prefer the mechanics of the FFB2, but damned if it doesn't have enough buttons.
  10. Not for practical use... I have 20 GB, run DCS from a ram disk, and that still leaves 1/4 of the ram untouched.
  11. *insert random, irrelevant 2-seat aircraft comment here* :D I actually think a swappable observer/pilot mode would be pretty sweet. I'm picturing it like when you're watching a track and you can hit escape and take control of it, but live. That' *is* what we're talking about, right?
  12. Very nice! If I may make a suggestion... I think it would be nice to have airfield elevation in place of the ICAO codes on the airfield chart. I haven't found much use for ICAO in DCS, but the airfield elevation is used every time I set the altimeter. I do think I'll be using this as my new checklist/reference!
  13. I'm still pretty new with this too, but I think you'd be pretty damn busy if you tried to do that. I usually just make a mental note, and call in CAP (if available) when they start to get close.
  14. :music_whistling:
  15. Yeah, but as far as I've seen, he only broadcasts it for stuff I told him to kill in the first place. I'd want his SPI on something I didn't see so I can go kill it myself. Although, now that I think about it, I could probably have him engage targets of opportunity, hook his SPI and call him back before he gets the weapons off the rack... I'll have to try that next time.
  16. No no no.... a wing man isn't always just for combat you know. :music_whistling:
  17. Take some rough sand paper, file, or other implement of destruction. File the LED's so the tips are flattened. The idea is to diffuse the light from the narrow beam they're usually setup with. Other than that, you can play with the camera settings to help out with the detection.
  18. What problems are you having with the X52? I use the jackbauer profile. I made a few changes, but I find it "most satisfactory".
  19. Yes!
  20. +1 on that. If I turn off all the post processing settings (AA, HDR, etc.), I'm CPU bound to around 40-50 FPS in the instant action missions. The only thing I picked up by upgrading from a 8800GT to a 560 GTX is now I can max out all the post processing effects. Even then, the visual impact isn't a night and day difference.
  21. :megalol: It'd be REALLY nice if he could send me *HIS* SPI for a change!
  22. ^^ That's what I have to do... I know the TGP displays a "gimbal roll" warning with an arrow when it's near/at the limit, but I haven't figured if you have to roll into the arrow, or away. Rolling the A/C never seems to work for me, I usually end up having to do the boresight/markpoint method.
  23. Indeed... Even the pointy head TO's don't go into very much detail on how it works. As far as the pilots and maintainers are concerned, it's PFM.
  24. I've found I'm much more likely to stay on the runway if I land a damaged plane gear up, so for now that's what I've been sticking with. Getting towed off the grass would be nice though, or at least have the plane magically transported to the nearest taxiway/parking spot after a repair.
  25. I use it for a Sidewinder FFB2, and it's a huge improvement over the stock effects in FSX.
