I only get the disconnect when connecting to the USB-C port on my 2070. If I use the one on the MB it will not. BUT the sounds is stutters. It is more annoying in DCS because of the additional sounds of lock tones, rwr etc.

I have a Ryzen 5600x with a gigabyte Aorus Pro AC MB and a 2070, I set the PCie port to Gen 3 and my system would boot right back into the Bios. It would never start the normal start up sequence. It made me think that the change was prevented boot up. I also saw that for my MB there was a newer BIOS version, F13d. I don’t think I tried with the new version. I wonder why system would not boot beyond Bios.

Nvidia Control Panel has no impact on VR!?!
DutchCoolHand replied to DutchCoolHand's topic in Virtual Reality
I don’t use Steam so did not not know what Auto throttling was. As I said,I reset all my settings to default in the control panel as he recommends and works better. Last night I flew in MSFS2020 and it looked better and smoother. No benchmark but just flying it. -

Miles do you mean the regular mouse cursor when moving the mouse? If so yes- 3421 replies

I "watched" this video, meaning the first few minutes and then went to the conclusions. I have the link going to the conclusions. DCS: Nvidia Control Panel — effective or bogus? I followed his recommendations and see an improvement. I would say my stutter is less. It clearly did not hurt FPS, I have to do some more testing in other missions to compare.

So spend time this weekend putting it all together. Had to find a spot where I could set it up permanently. here is my setup I am thinking about welding a frame for under the seat. It would require more welding skills than I currently have. I like a challenge

There are flights in DCS that are unforgettable

I will check the next time but I believe so. landing does in general. I am usually so focused on landing that I simply don't know -
Recently, I decided to commence early. about 2 miles out I was still a little high on the glideslope and that saved me. All of sudden another F-18 flew right below me, if I had been on glideslope I would have been hit. Peter

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller

2 questions, first I had to recalibrate my fcu’s as I went to one screen and I feel the mouse cursor is very jittery now. When point somewhere the cross is always moving a bit. More than it did before. Any idea? second, I love the function on the Quest2 where you can double tab the case to get the pass through view. This afternoon I transferred the Aux controllers to my Quest2 and the double tab does not work anymore. Anyone else seen this? EDIT: a restart has resolved this. It never happened to me before Thanks,- 3421 replies

Let me know if that helps. I currently use the USB-C port of my motherboard and the sound is still somewhat stuttering. Not too bad but noticeable
-
That is what am going to do now. Later I might get some 80/20

I thought about doing that too, cutting down the silver tube, I was not sure if I wanted to do that. secondly, setting it up as such would require more space. I have to figure out where to put it. thanks for your replay

Question to the group. you see that I have a PlaySeat, it sits relatively low to the ground. When I set up my Wheel Stand Pro the Joystick is too high. So I need to raise my seat. Any suggestions what to use. I can build some wooden frame but that does not look good. I am going to check Ikea, the might have something. Thanks
-
interesting you say that, I followed someone's suggestions and it set it to much higher values than I thought would be good. The image quality was much better than I had before. no more shimmers in the cockpit. It did push my system to its limits. After upgrading to the 5600X I am good again. Now I am fine if my FPS is 25 on the supercarrier while I start up and taxi to the cat. The moment I am of the deck I am back up to 35 - 40 fps. It used to be 17fps with my Ryzen 7 2700.
-
Wow that is surprising. What CPU are you using? I just upgraded to a 5600X together with a RTX2070 and a Quest2 I can get 25 -45fps.

As someone who bought his first airplane almost a year ago, I can say no it is not cheaper

What HOTAS are you using?

I use TM Warthog throttle. TM A-10 AND F-18 sticks on a warbird base. This gives me much better fine control. Finally using MFG Crosswind pedals. Love this setup -

you can't go wrong with the JetSeat. I have maybe flown 10 hours with it but if get into a plane and forgot to turn it on, I notice right away something is wrong. I don't feel the plane. Maybe that was that also added to my experience yesterday. I can say that the last minute felt intense, constantly adding or reducing power, looking for that small lighted runway. You touch down and hope you see/feel the deceleration. I am going to add the mirror view so that I can take screen shots of moments like that. On another note, I got the VR cover for the Quest2, reviewers said that it was good as it prevented light leakage. That is very true, landing at night it was dark! Secondly, I had the issue that the hot air I was breathing out of my nose would fog up my glasses. With the VR Cover it blocks this completely. -

Like you said Rex, the complexity is what makes this different. I have flown the F18 for 2 years on an off. Never did a case III before. I had to pause the flight several times to look at page of the manual I added to the kneeboard. When I started flying the Hornet I wanted to learn everything before doing a campaign. All landings, refueling, weapons. After a while I figured I never get to flying missions because I am still practicing. Started the Raven One campaign and in mission 2 I have to do a case III landing, so I had to learn. And one additional note, flying in VR adds so much. Doing a case III in VR, it is dark and not your room in daylight with a monitor in front of you. -
This week I upgraded my CPU to a 5600x and it helped with the frame rate of my Quest 2 I got a month ago. This afternoon I flew a Case III in the F-18 onto the Super Carrier. I was successful on the third try. First 2 ended with me hitting the end of the carrier. With Quest2 I now have the clarity and image quality to make it feel I am there. After I came to a stop, looked towards the superstructure, I saw the deck crew, the lights on the superstructure together with the parked planes. It was amazing, it was the closest I will ever come to experiencing being on a carrier. I know there are many problems that need to be resolved but it is great to fly DCS.

Ok update, I found out that the VirtualLink port had/has stability problems so it just doesn’t work well. I got the sound to work better by re installing the sound drivers.
-
OK i want to see if the combined brain power here has an idea of how to solve my problem. I have been using the USB-C port on my RTX2070 to connect to my Quest 2. Problem I have is that after 20 -25 minutes the connection gets interrupted. I can reestablish the link but the I don't get the view of DCS back in the headset. I "solved" it by connecting thru the USB-C port on my B450F motherboard. It worked although the connection thru the 2070 seems better. I changed a bunch of the link settings to see if that had an impact. Not that I can see. I got a new CPU this week (Ryzen 5 5600x) with a new motherboard. A GIGABYTE B550 AORUS PRO AC ATX. When connecting the USB-C to the MB gives me a really crackly Edited: stuttering sound in my headset. Secondly, I can hear the engine sounds but not the radio calls??? Connecting to my 2070 still causes the lost link problem, but good sound. Any ideas? I did update all of my drivers

I did the same, just ordered it this afternoon. Should come in next week Wednesday - Friday. And just picked up a Ryzen 5 5600X. It is a good day

That is a good point Phoenix. Question, can you move the arms laterally? Meaning wider apart? I use a warbird base so I might have to drill some more holes. And want add a different button box, I use the MFD now for non flying functions, like specific views, kneeboard. Etc.
