The SLI bridge is a good idea. I had some weird issues;it was a long time ago, so don't remember exactly, but I fixed it just by reseating it. I didn't even have to replace it.

That depends. R-60 not so much, Kh-66 on the other hand...

I don't understand. If the module is realistic you need to give it away because of that? I understand a 90 minute flight may be no fun, but you can still dogfight, strafe, and do short hops with it, right? I don't know, if I need to go read a news paper while I'm flying I don't think the flying is fun anymore...

What's the rational for 4000 series i7 instead of 6000 series? Are you saving that much on the CPU, RAM, and Mobo?
-
Haven't any crashes with SLI 970'x. Have you tried doing a repair or moving your configs aside and tried restarting from scratch to see if it makes a difference. If not you can just move your other folder back, otherwise move just the inputs, network, etc. back. SLI is not well supported in 1.2.x. I have definitely seen those artifacts, clouds flickering, and other fun. 1.5, due any day now in theory has touted as one of its features improved SLI support, so hopefully all that junk will become a thing of the past in short order.

How many modules are you REALLY proficient at?

Surely I can start up and get through most the systems on the A-10C and Ka-50. Add P-51D (and by proxy the TF-51D), Bf-109, and FW-190 to those I can cold start, fly and deploy most the weapons in. I am no slouch in with the Su-25T either, but then the systems are a whole lot less complex. By virtue of the simplicity of the systems I can start and get through most functions of any of the FC-3 aircraft, though people can run rings around me in A-A. It is not a strong competency for me. Heck one of my favorite things to do in the MiG-21Bis is strafe ground targets with gun pods and rockets at Mach 1 because it's pretty terrifying to aim at the ground at Mach 1 (and probably completely unrealistic, but nonetheless fun). I can't start the MiG-21Bis, F-86F, MiG-15Bis, or Mi-8MTV2 for complete lack of trying, though I know at least one of these (F-86F) is not hard if I'd bother to commit it to memory. But if I'm started up, getting in the air, deploying the weapons, and getting around are no problem. The way I look at it is the way I look at tech and programming languages. After you become well versed in one vendors hardware, os, or a programing language you look at the other and say, "this is what I want to do, how do I achieve (or the closest approximation of) that in this." You hit a critical mass eventually and know how to deploy most weapon types whether unguided, laser guided, TV, SARH, Active Radar Homing, IR, and so on. Same with gauges and systems. You can design a VVI/VSI to look however you want, the basic principle whether it's the style of the one in the MiG-21Bis vs. the Mi-8MTV2 is the same. Complex systems like the various functions available on the MFCD's of the A-10C vs. the ABRIS in the Ka-50 are a little more hit and miss but it still somewhat applies. There are always nuances and differences, but I think you can compensate rather easily after a point. -
I believe that is correct. For instance Samsung has an M.2 AHCI SSD and are supposed to be releasing a near identical looking NVMe version. To top it off I believe my motherboard has two M.2 slots but only one is NVMe. The other is AHCI. There are also 4x PCI-e cards with M.2 slots for NVMe SSD's if your motherboard didn't have (enough) M.2 NVMe slots... The funny part is that with Skylake and Z170 you get 16 PCI-e lanes from the processor and 20 from the chipset, more than ever, yet you get things like if you use this option or slot it disables this or these others. My 4x PCI-e slot is only 4x if I don't use any of the 1x slots. I think if I used the NVMe M.2 slot 2 1×PCI-e slots get disabled. All this new fun takes lots of bandwidth, which is both good and bad.

Sure. And we can have a DASF simulator. The repair guy walks over to supply shop with the NSN's for the parts he requires. We can punch it into ATLAS, wait for the SMU... take a trip in a HMMWV to pick up the parts...* but only if it's a USMC aircraft, cause any other branch will probably be different... Ya, I'm OK with 3 minutes. *Probably all completely wrong. It's been a long time...

Maybe instead of one of the usual flash sales where we see 70% of they can do a Bonus sale where you can save up to 75% off using your bonus money. The extra 5% would be the gesture to make it worth more than a flash sale to reward heavy spenders once or twice a year. Heck, I just bought 3 NTTR's. I'd like a little loyalty bonus too... :) I have friends who won't buy various modules, but if there are sales or I could spend some of my $107 bonus on steep discounts I'll buy them again and give them away so I can hopefully get them to fly them. You win with a sale you won't otherwise get and I get more flying options with friends...

I can confirm NVMe drives are bootable within Windows 10 without additional drivers. I have an Intel 750 PCI-E NVMe drive and did nothing special to get Windows 10 installed. There was an Intel controller driver I did update after install though. My understanding is NVMe drives are bootable only with Z170 and some Z99 motherboards. One of the big things I like is no more data or power cables to the drive(s). With a modular power supply I litterally just have the 2 motherboard power connectors and GPU cables dince I opted to do away with an optical drive and even install from USB I hope that someday they can get all the power for GPU's over the PCI-E (or whatever) bus so we can just do away with most all of the cables.

The combat pro flight pedals are not great, especially for the price. The internals are all plastic, so with use the center of mine has become quite sloppy. They don't force to center if you make small adjustments as there's basically no spring tension there. They collect dirt very easily inside and are difficult to clean. The metal pedals are too heavy for the springs except in the most upright position, so you'll have to set deadzones or use them in what I consider the least comfortable of the three positions. Now with Windows 10, even without the profiling software, which isn't really necessary for them, they still have the same issue as all other Saitek products where you can't unplug them while your computer is on or else it will become unresponsive. When my girlfriend wants to yank my pedals to practice we have to shut both computers down. Lame. They work, but they are extremely overpriced for what they are. I can't speak about Crosswinds from personal experience until late this month or early October, but if they're anywhere what others say I'd say save up the extra difference and save yourself the discontent and headache. I am probably one of the most Anti-Saitek people on the forums and bad mouth them like it's my job, but as a former owner of a problematic X-52 Pro and the less than stellar Pro Combat pedals I just want to try saving people the money I wasted, even if it means spending a little more up front...

Any word on whether the red flag campaigns can be completed in multiplayer? Have a friend on the fence about NTTR at the cirrent price and if they can be done MP it might put him over the edge. -

Dont forget Red Dawn style missions too. Or find the terrorist(s) in Vegas, terrorists at the Hoover dam, etc. Just because it's Nevada doesn't mean it can't be fun and immersive. Red Dawn was ridiculous and yet it's still a cult classic that was worthy of a sequel and can easily inspire silly entertaining missions. Don't like it? Don't buy it. As for me my head is already churning with entertaining ideas and I pity those with zero imagination. -
DCS World 2 is free. The MiG-21 will work in DCS World 2. DCS World 2 does not come with the Nevada NTTR map. 1.5/2.0 include several other updates including support for multiple maps. NTTR is presently a $40 pre-order purchase at 20% off and I think with two campaigns if you buy it before October 1.

The 6700k's are out and indeed have some nice features that I think the 4000 series dont have like boot from nvme drivers. Just watch for price gouging. The most you should pay is $350 but north american stocks are limited at the moment. Still I've managed to pick up 2 at proper prices from newegg and amazon for the few hours they each had them up. The nvme drives can transfer at a theoretical 32 gbps rather than 6 gpbs of AHCI SSD's and the z170 motherboards also carry usb 3.1 rev 2 connectors, etc. to keep you up to date on peripheral connectivity. Supposedly the next gen CPU's are going to be the same socket type, but we'll see. Still it might allow for a moderate bump without having to replace mobo and ram at the same time.

What's harder about an AT-802U than anything else? -
We can only dream. I still like to pretend one of LNS' other two will be an AT-802U after they cruelly joked about it as well.
-
Finally we will know the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow.

Every WWII and Korean era aircraft, not to mention the MiG-21Bis and F-14A/B prove that wrong.

Her dad has long been into RC helos, so she gets it from both directions with RC and simulation.

Meanwhile my girlfriend keeps asking when I am getting my crosswinds so she can have my saiteks so she can have an eaiser time trying to figure out the Ka-50 :-p

4GB is below the minimum requirement. Try to get at least 8, if not 16. You may get game crashes on large missions with just 4, or lots of stuttering if it can't load everything into RAM and windows starts trying to use the page file on disk to swap.

Monitor resolution may be a factor? If one is at 1366x768 and the other at 1920x1080 it could affect performance, so if they are getting different experiences it's worth asking.

Saitek is trash. It's sad they are the major player for anything over absolute beginner stick up to Warthog HOTAS, but any money spent is likely just going to just result in frustration. One thing to consider if you're thinking about a warthog hotas down the line is there is no twist, so pedals will be necessary. If you can afford Crosswinds go the distance. I have the pro combat saitek pedals and they catch dirt easily and are way too junky for the price. Whenever possible, based off the nothing but problematic Saitek x52 Pro and combat rudder pedals I had, I preach a 'wait and save' attitude. I know theyre prohibitive. It took me years, especially after tossing money in the saitek fire place. Im only now waiting foe MFG's and I've been eyeballing them for a good long time. Even now at all the Saitek users that can't upgrade to Windows 10. It's not like it was a suprise to anyone that it was coming and gere they still are, no updates for their users.
