Well anyone who has studied history knows that many great aviators were and are women. So I don't think I ever felt at anytime that women weren't an integral part of the aviation world. I think we as men assume most women on the planet aren't really that interested in aviation and the DCS sim so it's kind of natural that openings like Gentlemen etc happen. I think most guys would love to have tons of gals interested in the Sim. So for me it's a non issue. The intent never was to exclude women more of a sigh and resignation that this is a mostly guys thing. Obviously that's not 100% correct. So hey , see ya in the skies ladies.

Listen I want Vulkan so I can continue to use Win 7. I don't want my operating system to be a virus tyvm. Anything using DX12 is going to FORCE me to use Win 10. Vulkan ftw. Running it on Doom 2016 no prob. On a more fun note the latest newsletter caused me to BUY BUY BUY F-18 + Persian Gulf. I tried to pull my hand away from the confirm order button but I just couldn't gah ! Just too damn good to wait anymore. DCS is amazing !!! Can't believe my dream sim has finally arrived. Ya there's gonna be bugs but I know we're on the home stretch. Yee Haww !!

good performance in 2.5 despite old rig
Slap_Chop replied to Hog_No32's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I just flew the F86 Ground Attack mission on 2.51 release ver with Unlimited Rockets. I can't believe how smooth everything is on this older rig. I've been updating it over the years new video card, liquid cooler for CPU overclock and added more RAM but wow I was just giddy. Had to watch my own replay from the ground. Just so awsum. I know that some guys are having problems that are real but as a former software developer I know it's nice to hear when things are working OK once in a while. My Specs I5-750 CPU Clocked to 3.81 GHZ GTX1060 GPU with 6GB Vid Ram 24 GB RAM Regular Old Hard Disk Drive 7200 RPM (just Defragged a couple of days ago) Win 7 Pro. EdTracker Head Tracking 1920 X 1080 1 Monitor Onboard Sound Chip. X-55 Rhino HOTAS -
I have trouble seeing the in game FPS counter in it's current color. The old yellow color was much easier for me to see.

2.5 runs smooth until i start bombing stuff
Slap_Chop replied to METEOP's topic in Game Performance Bugs
There maybe more than one cause of stuttering. Is this not possible ? -
2.5 runs smooth until i start bombing stuff
Slap_Chop replied to METEOP's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Has anyone considered this may be related to sound issues ? I'm not saying it is but isn't bombing etc causing sound generation ? Everyone lists graphics cards but no one lists sound devices. EG: PCI Soundblaster, USB speakers, Onboard sound etc. Just a thought. -
Yes You Can

When you select the profile in voice attack then click the EDIT button you will see a list of all the voice commands and the keys associated with them.

Maybe have a look at their website. Seems they've put some work into it. https://store.speedtree.com/

To be honest fatboy I'm not sure how the 2.5 will handle that but even if you install 2.5 on your current Hard Drive you can always move DCS anywhere you want later. No biggy. It's been asked and answered many times on this forum when people bought new SSD's with previous versions of DCS and wanted to move DCS to the new SSD. I'm guessing the 2.5 installer will allow you to select the drive you want to install it on and just copy files from your existing installations as required. This is mentioned in the newsletter to leave your existing stuff alone. So I say not to worry. Either way you can get DCS 2.5 on that new shiny SSD. :smilewink:

Patience is a virtue. I'll be letting the guys with the super fast internet connections and 1TB SSD's install 2.5 first. Then I'll sit back for a week and listen to the bish fest, crying and of course some accolades. During that time any major boo boos should be ironed out. Of course I will have to make several bowls of popcorn during this week while I am watching the show. After the initial dust settles I will then see if my puny 120GB SSD will handle 2.5 or not. If not I will then purchase a larger SSD and install it. I will then copy my current installation from the old SSD to the new one. At that point I will then begin the download and installation of 2.5

I still have the original Lock On Modern Air Combat CD (2003). When I bought Flaming cliffs you had to own the original Lomac because UBI soft still owned rights. https://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/lock-on-modern-air-combat/release-info https://www.lockon.ru/en/ It was a while until ED/DCS had the rights to everything. Back in the day there was no DCS world. Back in the day each aircraft was it's own install and included the map. No auto update system existed. I could go on. DCS world was the first move to fix that and new aircraft came because we wanted them no matter what ED was working on. It took a while for them to get here and we kept the stable version around until the new stuff worked OK. simple as that. And guess what. All those new aircraft that were developed are gonna slide right into the new DCS world like they were made for it ! How about that. Aren't ya glad they got made before the release of 2.5 ? It took along time to do all this because it was darn hard. That's why.............. Now to answer your original question. End of January 2018

I believe this is a picture of the boys taking a break after releasing 2.2

1) Hoping for a stable graphics engine with well known minimum hardware requirements optimized for current GPU's. 2) With 1) completed I am hoping for some rest for the devs. There has been so much work done to get to this point and I feel it's almost there if 2.2 and the latest livestream any indication. 3) After a much deserved rest I'm hoping the devs can focus on some fun things for example new ATC system. Contunue making explosions and effects cooler . Tweaking the mission editor. Things that aren't huge problems but maybe fun to play with. 4) Looking forward to one version as well and the continued success of ED and their partners and a growing community.

ED Tracker works great. Built my own but you can buy one built by them. Also you can look around with your mouse Left Alt C to toggle on and off. Also a Hat Switch on you Joystick allows looking around

Shark is much more involved than Sabre or F5. Shark was here from the beginning . I used to fly it regularily. Would create a Quick mission with tons of ground enemies and try to kill them all with the weapon systems. Very satifying but difficult cause the enemy could see through the trees. Tons to learn but satisfying as hell when mastered. All started with a youtube video on how to blow stuff up using the shark. I bought the sabre day 1 because it was an icon to me. Great fun to. I have the F5 as well. To me the jets are like a burger and fries. Ka50 is a steak dinner with all the trimmings. I like both and don't necessarilly want to eat steak everyday.

As the pilot climbed out of the aircraft witnesses say he exclaimed loudly "THIS PLANE IS CRAP !!" He then pushed a young airmen out of his way and stomped off to the pilots lounge.
