Polychop Simulations OH-58D Kiowa
Eaglewings replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
I am very interested in this module. Loving the modern avionics in the video from Helisimmer. What is contained in the mast on top of the rotor? -
I have been watching the rtx 2070 super. I was of the opinion 2070 super and the 2080 it not that much of a difference so I considered it was a cheaper alternative. There is rumour Nvidia is launching their Ampere named GPU first quarter of next year. It is said to get better performance.

It would be enlightening to know more on this. From my perspective, I feel every module should have a distinct FM and tweaking with one to get it as close to contractually acceptable and realistic value should not affect other modules whose FM is already good. Or am I getting the whole point wrongly?
-
Correct. The sim offers some more satisfaction beside dropping bombs. I love doing approachs and departures as the charts or ATC recommends. It is so much fun.
-
Manipulated my CAT settings and it did improve my control. For the first time ever in a Viper, I was able to control the aircraft hook up to the boom and multiple times and got gas load from 7000 to 10000. Did not have to struggle as much as I did in the AAR for the Hornet which was literally for months. Taking cognizance of the CAT setting does change how nimble the controls input takes effect at various state. Any ideas on what load to change from cat 1 to lll?

I am trying to do aerial refuel with the viper and the responsiveness of the roll and pitch is obviously dulled out. The FM and the force-sensing stick thing in the Viper is a whole new control I would have to learn. The likes of Hornet and Tomcat are remarkably nimble and apt to control.

It has been asked for before. No, I do not think there is. What I do is to take a snapshot of my good scores to look at and feel happy about later [emoji1]. Seriously wish one could be design for this amazing piece of work by Bankler.

Yes this is a constant issue. Best solution for me is to launch dcs from inside the headset. Activate desktop by pressing window key. Mouse works okay each time you launch from within the headset.
-
Glad it worked out for you too. I understand how frustrating it is searching for solution in the wrong place.
-
Oh yeah, it would be great to have those three favorites of mine (Hornet, Falcon and Eagle) adequately represented in dcs.
-
You could try playing without VR and isolated if the problem is vr related or something, else.
-
A system option like you have described would really good. I use the (-- force_disable_vr) applied in dcs.exe launch method to get around this issue. I have two dcs.exe shortcut created on my desktop numbered 1 and 2. The number 1 shortcut does not have ( --force_disable_vr) apllied to it target properties The number 2 has it applied. So if I want to play on monitor, I will use shortcut number 2 and verse versa.

Interfacing with Viper's key systems is so tied to the two MFDs. Not being able to clear use those screen as they are is a setback. For guys like me who has embrace vr with strong passion, those screens are worse in vr. So I qive my +1 vote to an early optimization of the textures of the font and brightness/contrast options. It would be great to have those fixes in this weeks update if feasible.
-
I will be keeping tab to know your thoughts from a Reverb perspective. All the best.
-
+1 A lot of varying factors in the mix.

ATC upgrade I believe would come after the supercarrier module according ED. Do not mean to be selfish here having gotten my favorite aircrafts modules now, I will be happier right now to get features like ATC for carrier and airfield. This would really make dcs world beefier than it is and it would definitely drive sales Yes, efforts and resources geared towards the simulation environment. Anxiously looking forward to the Supercarrier with all those animated aircrew, LSO and carrier communications.
-
Oh , my bad, I did not check the heading of the thread. No hijacking intentions here. Happily, the idle throttle wishlist is relevant to all modules. Cheers.
-
Okay thanks. It was clumsy removing vr headset to close canopy with keyboard. The training video in-game does not make reference to that switch so I thought it was not implemented yet. I need to unbind the hotas button I had used for canopy operation to save me one more hotas button. Cheers
-
Yes. In addition to the OP matter, Canopy open/close function uses keyboard binding(lctrl+C). Isn't there a click able switch in the Viper to close the canopy? Did not see that being used in the rampstart video.

I think the way the panel holding the ICP is built in the Viper contributes to the blurry state of the MFD. The ICP panel extend out into one's face far longer than the that of the FA-18C and A-10C thereby making the MFD screen deep set. Generally in vr, the farther away an object is, the more fuzzy it become. That being said the contrast and sharpness of the font used for labeling in both the MFD and switches is lacking in readable texture.

Yes, I have tgop mounted. Slight trim? Okay. I used left some rudder trim and bird became woopy. Will try slight. Thanks
