Would you pay for a VR optimised F-14?
Eaglewings replied to GunSlingerAUS's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
In VR or monitor? 120fps in vr is far fetched but on a monitor yes I get 120fps on my 1060 6g. -
Some very Interesting details here. Thanks.

I am having a good read here. Very useful and interesting stuff about the speed brake. I take a look at the external view during approach and wonder why the speed brake is not fully extended and now it all make sense. The full stick pull to aft after nosewheel touch down is a discovery. What are the three-point aerodynamic braking elements at work here? Cheers.

Present VR design see much clearly looking straight ahead and centered. Part of the reason the lower display panel is unclear is you are looking with your view not centred on the concentric lines on the VR lenses. I think in addition the non implementation of contrast and brightness adjustments for display could also be a reason. I generally just turn off the map

Hey, I have just downloaded version 32 and I still get no notification. I happen to be alone in the theatre I looked into dcs.log file The scripting section has a very long list but no error message. This below seems to indicate Moose script is loaded: SCRIPTING: *** MOOSE GITHUB Commit Hash ID: 2019-11-25T11:17:48.0000000Z-8e5dfee82704126c24fd34e81f8b9ee626c0c874 *** 2019-12-01 18:14:48.207 INFO SCRIPTING: *** MOOSE STATIC INCLUDE START *** 2019-12-01 18:14:48.207 INFO SCRIPTING: Init: Scripts Loaded v1.1 The only error message I see is at the end of the mission but no error indicated in the list between start and where it end. Would you pay for a VR optimised F-14?
Eaglewings replied to GunSlingerAUS's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I am all for a vr optimised cockpit in which form it comes. I will definitely be happier for it. Cheers -
Thanks I would check. I would like to note that at the start of the mission I would hear the chirping sound that normally accompanying a mission message but in my case no message is displayed.
-
I am having exactly the same same issue the number of times I have flown the mission. I had thought the mission file I downloaded is corrupted and planned to re-download again and do the mission. Are there any other file to be installed beside the mission file?
-
Thank Nineline. Pleasant to know this. All the best on your work. Cheers.

It is pretty obvious the MFDs in the F-16 is a pain to use as it is so I am curious. Is ED aware of this complains? How difficult is it to improve them or would fixing it break something else? If the current state of the MFDs is realistic to the actual aircraft, can we have options to select a non realistic but usable MFDs for sim sake? Are there some Lua files we can alter to improve the MFDs while waiting for an official fix? The Hornet recently got some cockpit texture touches which for me is very good with my vr headset. I really wish the artist doing the Viper can hear our complains and touch-up the MFDs at least.

2021 (and earlier) DCS Newsletter Discussion Thread
Eaglewings replied to NineLine's topic in DCS 2.9
Gathering from repeated official information post from ED, the Hornet would receive dedicated work in the month of December. Whether this features would come in same December is subject to debate but ED has made it clear that TWS radar mode and other features would come to the Hornet. -
DCS Not Launchcing To Headset But To WMR Portal App Desktop.
Eaglewings replied to Murey2's topic in VR Bugs
That is weird. You could check that the two cable from the odyssey plus headset are plugged into the right ports. -
And the console texture being faithful to the real aircraft is very fine for me. I see the cockpit labeling better than before the recent update in my Odyssey plus. Looking forward to the more cockpit upgrading spoken of by Mr Wag for the Hornet.

I had exactly this issue on a contant bases while playing on my laptop. I have since setup my gaming desktop which typically have the same parts except for the cpu that is higher and haven't had this issue playing on the desktop. It is such a tricky one. I am just careful not to install mod or other software to upset things as it is now. You could your log file and see error log at those times the seizure occurs. My would throw error in the log.

Wow, I just got into the cockpit of the Hornet in vr and I do not know what Ed did but they sure did a brilliant work. Cockpit labeling looks amazing. Sharp with complimenting black console. Nice touch ED. Well done. [emoji106]

Today's update is for open beta only
-
Great news. Now I am anxious to see for myself this. I saw the Viper MFD lettering got sharpen. Hoping this is carried into VR too.
-
You could also try this if you have not done this before. Rename saved game folder for dcs open beta to old and let it generate a new folder for dcs. If it works, you can copy your config and other important folder back to the new folder created. Are you using any mod, you could uninstall all and see. You have got a system good enough to handle your vr headset and configuration. I hope this helps.

Is this price official?
-
Thank you for the information. Looks like a super exciting 27th November open beta update. Cheers
-
A module with a modern avionic suite like this and if I am not mistaken, the first aircraft to have a air-ground radar implemented in dcs would be in the league of the F-14, FA-18C and F-16 in terms of price. I am open for surprises though. It is somewhat intriguing that a module that is a few weeks from being released has no hints on price or if it is going to be launch in early access or not.
-
When will the new VIOP come in? Is it coming in with the 27th November open beta?
-
Sounds very interesting. Reading through the features makes it look more like a true dynamic campaign. Thank you for sharing this. [emoji106]

I think the TGP in the FA-18C Hornet is still very much a WIP compare to that on the A-10C which has gone through a lot of work. Little surprise to see that of the A-10C doing better. With time though, the Hornet's tgp should see significant upgrade.

It’s it possible to get training missions?
Eaglewings replied to BlacleyCole's topic in New User Briefing Room
Great ideas expressed by the open post. Complex as it may seems, but achievable because there are already some brilliant single-player mission that I flown that takes you through ground op, taxing, proper comms, AAR, execution of combat objectives and RTB procedure. The likes of red flag missions is good example. I personally now yearn for adherence to close to real life combat flight prodecures in dcs as you get in most civilian flight sims. The ATC comms revamp for carrier and field operation by ED would be help immensely for a project like this but before those comes, some simple missions could be done in this regards. So a project like this would br fantastic as a tool to teach dcs virtual pilot especially those who do not do multiplayer.
