A couple of ideas. Try downloading just the .exe file again and delete the old one and replace it. Also try placing all the installer files in a single folder on the root. Like C:\DCS then run the install from there. Maybe I missed it but what operating system are you using 7 or Vista? Are you installing under an administrators account? Out

Take On Helicopter - New game by Bohemia Interactive
PoleCat replied to Eight Ball's topic in Chit-Chat
Flown it a little bit. Impressions are: Great Graphics. Crappy FM. (This is just an opinion based on my experience with Black Shark). Seems that when a company cites the need for balance between realism and game play in a simulator it usually translates to a poor dead feeling FM like this one. Likely will not fly it any further. Strapping a Monitor to a Helmet for Immersion

This is so crazy and cool. Good thing you got some bungees up there or your neck would end up looking like an accordian after a few sorties. Insanity incarnate. You are totally and without a doubt crazy as a loon and I LOVE it. Out -
When you uninstall 1.02 I am not sure you are actually left with a good working version of 1.01c or 1.0. Even though the new BS2 installer files should have fixed the problem with installing over any previous version I recommend the following actions in your specific case. Note: The new installer files from the DCS site have fixed this issue for most. 1. Uninstall all Black Shark versions completely. (Backup your config files if desired). 2. Install the original version of Black Shark 1.0. 3. Run the BS1 1.0 MP game and make sure you are not prompted to activate. If you are do so. 4. Try now once more to install the BS2 upgrade and see if it works. 5. Now patch BS1 to 1.02 if desired. No need to install 1.01c first. Best of luck to you. Out

A good aftermarket CPU cooler and reasonable case cooling is in order. There are several different brands for CPU HSF that do a great job and will not break the bank. Coolermaster and Zalman make excellent heat pipe design HSFs. For good all in one water cooling I recommend the Corsair H70 although really probably overkill as the above air coolers come very close to cooling just as well at all but the most extreme overclocks. The importance of air flow over the components through the case should also be considered. It is a much overlooked but important aspect of the build. Hopefully you have a well designed case with adequate fans for cooling it. Out

Great work and thank you to the beta team, the producers and the developers for creating Black Shark 2. Well done! Out

I want to thank the moderators and testers who are giving away much of their free time on our behalf to be only occasionally commended but unfortunately also sometimes harassed, called names and asked to answer the same questions over and over and over again. The least we can do is make their job easier by reading and searching for previous posts that may be covering the same ground. We owe them our thanks and our courtesy for their endless patience. My head would have exploded twelve times by now at many of the posts I have read. Thanks guys and keep up the good work!   Out

Clearly a minor glitch which is pretty easy to work around. There are a couple of methods for doing so described previously in this thread. Don't let such a small problem put you off from such fine sim. :) You do not have to destroy your previous BS 1.02 install either. Just rename it temporarily. This type of thing is part and parcel of computers, games, and flight sims in general. Just like everything else in life, nothing is perfect. Out

The 1.0 version is available for download on the DCS site. :) Out

Ok here is what I found. If I install Black Shark and patch to 1.02 I get an error msg from upgrade that "DCS Black Shark must be installed" If I install only Black Shark 1.0 the upgrade works as normal. I will patch BS to 1.02 after the upgrade as a workaround. Out

Re installed Black shark to default location. No joy. Still get message saying Black Shark must be installed. Out

I will let you know in a minute if it works. Also there may be a reg work around you can use in your case. Have to look into it. Don't lose hope! ;) Out

Tried a re install of all upgrade still prompts that Black Shark must be installed. I will try installing to default folder and see what happens. Out

Tried to install upgrade and I get a message saying Black Shark must be installed. The problem is, it is already installed. I am going to try uninstall all and then re install both. Out

Purchase complete. Well done to the developers, producers and beta team! Thank you for your continuing efforts to satiate the appetites of such a small niche audience. Looking forward to whatever comes next. Out

Awesome! Trying to purchase I get an error. Can't open license for selected product. When trying to add to basket. The license agreements are not up yet perhaps...may as well grab a lawn chair and sit in line. ;) Out

It works quite well using the DMZ for the box when hosting. When I use it the server is not dropped. Essentially the DMZ is making your direct ip available all the time and all ports. For now opening all ports on the server (DMZ) works for me. "The DMZ screen allows one local user to be exposed to the Internet for use of a special-purpose service such as Internet gaming and videoconferencing. DMZ hosting forwards all the ports at the same time to one PC. The Port Range Forwarding is more secure because it only opens the ports you want to have opened, while DMZ hosting opens all the ports of one computer, exposing the computer to the Internet." ;) Out

I believe this is a known issue but it would be nice to have confirmation. With a linksys E2000 router we have to put our server in the DMZ for it not to be dropped. This is only since 1.1.0.9. Out
