Granted it is an older article. Much of it is still absolutely true. The differences in performance given the same drive (modern or not), in a RAID0 configuration as compared to the same single SATA drive in AHCI mode are modest. :) Out

Support for more types of Head Tracking Software.

Sounds an awful lot like spilled milk to me. For the years of enjoyment I have gotten from my TIR I feel they are really fairly priced. I also feel strongly that NP deserves the lions share of the market because well, they succeeded and made that place for themselves. They did it and did not hack or steal anyone elses work to get there. If others want to do the same they should do it the same way IMHO. Others hacking their files and then asking for permission afterwards sounds backwards to me as well. Further making them out to be the bad guys seems even worse. They worked hard to get where they are and now because people want it for free they should give it up? I wouldn't. And the difference between stealing NPs code and hacking their files is a small one. Best of luck. Out -
Yes Breaking Bad is a very good series. Anxiously awaiting the new season of this and Walking Dead on AMC. I am not one for too much gore but the story line in Walking dead is very strong and sucked me in fast. Out

I use RAID 0 for my 2 128GB SSDs for 238GB of OS and games. I also use two mechanicals in RAID 0 for a secondary partiton used for storage and general use. The speed increase is modest but perceptible. There is absolutely NOT a 50% increase in performance in any case. This information is totally inaccurate. Reading this article you can see that modest gains from about 4% -15% can be seen depending on the application. http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Does-RAID0-Really-Increase-Disk-Performance/394/6 The chance of mechanical catastrophic failure destroying vauable data is double with RAID 0 so it is more important then ever to be sure to keep a good up to date backup. Setup using Boards featuring Intel rapid storage controllers are relatively simple. Enter bios >enable Raid> save and exit>enter raid bios> Select disks and create array>save and exit>enter bios and set boot priority if needed>save and exit> Install OS. (Raid storage controller drivers may be needed at install if using older OS. Available at board manufacturers download section or Intels web site). Good luck! :) Out

Well done Tyger! Very nice contribution to the community. Thanks. Out -
Having just recently switched to a pair of kingston 128GB SSD in Raid 0. I am completely wowed by the performance gains. I will simply never ever go back to mechanicals. Price is the barrier and I did wait a long time to be able to get SSD at just about $1.25 per GB. A deal I still have not seen since. Having said all that, the facts raised by EtherealN and Moa are not to be ignored. SSD is by no means bulletproof and when the inevitable failure comes there are no degrees of failure. Without a good backup expect total data loss. So enjoy it but be very very prepared. ;) Out

Try running memtest http://www.memtest.org/ (at least one full pass) and then Rithdrbl http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/ (Let rthdrbl run for a while to stress the video card) or furmark http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100356-video-card-stress-test-furmark.html If it is your memory or your video card these might expose which it is. Failing that I would also suspect your PSU. If you can switch it out and try another do so and test again. Best of luck. Out

This sounds a lot like a hardware issue to me. Perhaps you can run a memory/system/video stress test and/or benchmark to see if stressing the system causes a reboot outside of the game. Please see here. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028504 Out

Thank you Gadroc. This is indeed a very nice gesture and Helios is excellent software. I am going to make a donation at the time of download to show my appreciation. Out

Agree totally. the Track clip pro is an absolute POS. Don't buy it unless you like to be frustrated. I have had 4 break on me so far. Of these two were replaced under warranty. The other two bought as spares more than 2 years ago broke shortly after unpacking them, not even one hours use. Because I bought them more then a year ago they would not replace them. It is my understanding that there is a new TCP being designed now. I have very mixed feelings about natural point due to the really shoddy construction of this device. Of course the TIR itself is just amazing so it is hard to stay mad...but come on. These things break so easy it is sick. Yskonyn - It takes barely anything for these things to either break or fall apart. Careful reaching up near it, just barely touch it wrong and you will be rewarded by a pile of disconnected or broken plastic and LED's and then left wondering how to fix it. If you glue it or tape it it winds up butt ugly and fully extended and even more brittle then before. Out

Yes mate. I own a TFS2. I purchased this a few years ago when it was available. I think the cost was around 249 but I am not positive as I can't quite remember for sure. This is a previous version. I am waiting for the newer TFS3 which will be provided to all TFS2 owners free of charge. The Order page is down because the TFS3 is not for sale yet. Other sections of the website including the forums are open if you would like to find out more. And in case you were wondering I can and do use the IVIBE TFS2 under Windows 7 x64 in games like FC2 and the DCS series. Using the "universal Intellivibe module" I have created specific vibrational effects for the separate zones in the seat triggered by keystrokes to emulate everything from Gear up and down to firing the gun in the A10. As you move the throttle/s forward the engine vibration slowly increases to whatever amount you like. You totally control how it feels as well, the texture of the force feedback is completely controlled by you and the intensity is linked to the throttle position. Gear up after takeoff is a long smooth vibration with a noticeable clunk at the end as the gear tucks neatly inside the fuselage. All triggered by the G key. When you fire the gun in the A-10 your butt shakes and you tailor the vibration to what you think it should feel like (or have a real A10 pilot dial it in if you have one handy). Ok here's the best part. So now you are airborne you have engine vibrations linked to throttle, your (gear/flaps/guns/airbrakes) are programmed to keys but it doesn't stop there. There is positional feedback given through vibration zones in the seat to put vibration where you would feel Gs while flying or driving. So as you pull back on the stick the throttle controlled vibration will move from under your legs up to your back smoothly. As you roll the AC the vibration moves from under one side of your body to the opposite. How does it do this? From the website: "Contained within the TFSU are 6 powerful electromechanical actuators, arranged in 3 pairs: one pair in the back section, one pair in the left leg section, and one pair in the right leg section. All three zones can function independently or in unison. By having three independent zones, games that support intellivibe can render things such as vector based gforce, acceleration and braking cues, direction-based incoming flak, and just about any other thing you can think of." This thing is truly amazing! :music_whistling: Out

Not even close to a buttkicker sorry. If fully relaized think of the buttkicker as an abacus and the Ivibe as a super computer and you will be getting closer to reality. A Buttkicker is nothing compared to this. BK is a glorified subwoofer driver, a speaker. It takes no realtime data from the sim it just responds to sound. Hit the links in the first post when you can and read it. Out

I thought some of you might find this interesting. The product originally produced as the TFS2, after a series of initial setbacks in development may soon be for sale with a new hardware controller and software in its latest incarnation as the TFS3 the Tactile Feedback System 3. The product is an alternative to bass shaker rumble seats that takes data from various sims (both driving and flight) in a unique and much more detailed manner than sound driven devices. I do not fully understand the way it works but i believe strongly in the concept so I will post these links here for your consideration. The first link is to the products main site (it is not for sale at this time but there is some excellent info on concept and design there) and the second link is to a very recent post with video links showing the new software working with rFactor. These videos demonstrate how the force feedback zones in the seat coincide with the real time effects in the simulation. There will be support for MS Flight sim added shortly after the new TFS3 enters beta testing phase (projected in the next few weeks). http://www.ivibe.com/ http://www.ivibe.com/forum/showpost.php?p=4626&postcount=139 I have asked the developer to add native support for both Flaming Cliffs 2 and the entire DCS series on a number of occasions. From what I have read the new open source software should make this much more likely to happen as it requires even less intervention from the game developers to get the game and device “talking to each other”. I do believe that this could be the next huge "Track IR" style success if the project can get fully off the ground. Check it out...... Out

Exactly right. You could also run a driver cleaner utility as well just to be sure to remove all older drivers entries and files but if you do a good uninstall of all Nvidia software it is usually not necessary. Turn off the PC and switch off the PSU if there is a switch and unplug the AC power before swapping the cards. Observe ESD precautions. Enjoy your new upgrade. Out -
