Yes I am one of the two Wing commanders of the 104th Phoenix. Specs are modest but sufficient for our needs. We will be replacing this server with a new one as soon as there is a good reason to do so. The Server has been in use and colocated since 2007. This server is used primarily for FC2 but is also be able to host A10-C when needed. We do have another dedicated server for A10-C. That box is overkill for the task. i7 875K, 8GB DDR3 1600, GTX 570 etc. Just let us know if we can be of any assistance. FC2 Server specs: Intel Q965GF Main board Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4Ghz 4GB Corsair XMS DDR2-800 memory Nvidia Geforce GT 240 Coolermaster Real Power 550wat PSU (RS-550-ACLY) Optical Drive Floppy Drive 2x 160GB Hitachi Deskstar HDT722525DLA380 Serial ATA II 7200RPM Hard Drive w/8MB Buffer (Raid1 for OS) 1x 160GB Hitachi Deskstar HDT722525DLA380 Serial ATA II 7200RPM Hard Drive w/8MB Buffer (Backup images) 4U Case Windows 7x64 ultimate Flaming Cliffs 2 Remote software

We are using a 4U rack case at the facility. I think you can get low profile graphics adapters for the 2U but I doubt 1U although I am not certain. At any rate as long as you are only serving the game a powerful graphics card is not needed. A modest one should be more than adequate for the job as long as at meets the minimum req. Best of Luck. Sure no problem. Nice story. It Illustrates the main point of your posts perfectly. And in the end you get to say how bad the Cougar is once again and the Warthog as well. Surprise! :D And I am the fan boy. Out

This is your idea of a very good PC technician? Sorry but 3 out 4 Cougars not working by his own admission is not a failure of the product and it is an abysmal record for anyone supporting him. Why for years now does Cali find the need to post negatively in every thread where the Cougar is even mentioned his almost unbelievable inability to get ANY Cougar working but for one out of four which he did not like? His plight with the Cougar is clearly his own uniquely weird experience. Name calling is all you got left. Out
-
Well really it is not that tricky. I was just being kind. It is quite unsual that no one could get it working for him. This is clearly the exception and not the rule. No failure of the product I can find over dozens of installs. If the support Cali was given was so good he would now be flying with a Cougar. It is far from rocket science to install it properly. Maybe he has a system level or software issue rather than a Cougar problem. You wouldn't likely need a software engineer at all but rather a very good PC technician to fix this problem. Particularly if he has only got one to work out of four. That is an abysmal record. Probably the worst I have ever heard of considering I and many others have had a 100% success rate. Out

I had all but sold the FSSB R1 already (without the Cougar)but decided at the last minute not to. So no I don't think so. I will keep all four of them even though the Warthog is my new preference for A10-C. Janet and I still use the Cougars a lot as well as my friends who do LAN play with me. I also demo flight sims and gaming rigs for my customers. I really like how impressed they are when I let them fly using my Cougars. The whole package has helped me sell more than a few complete flight sim enabled gaming rigs. Out

One of my Cougars is an FSSB R1 and it works just fine. My preference was for the nxt mod although I now use the TM Warthog and love it the most. Force sensing is pretty cool though and as stated here once you get used to it you can be very precise. If you can't manage to get your Cougar to work this time try to find some one who is very experienced with Cougar installs to help you. It can be a little tricky but most people don't have any trouble getting them setup properly. Good luck. Out

This was not posted as a reason to give up the Windows XP OS if you do not want to, I posted those dates so you could gain a little clarity. XP is old buy any measure and when compared to Windows 7 x64 it is shown to be lacking in all respects. Windows XP is less secure and less stable than Windows 7. Almost anything you install will work better and run better on Windows 7 than XP. Certainly there is a wide enough gap in performance to suggest repeatedly that you drop it and take the plunge to Windows 7 x64. This is the best advice we can give you. Best of luck with what ever you decide to do. Out

The Cougar also works out of the box for just about everyone but you. And as far as it goes, it is quite clear that you are the one who has no idea what you are talking about. Four different Cougars and you and your friends couldn't get three of them going and you say I am the one who is clueless? I have NEVER failed to get one working satisfactorily under any OS and on all manner of hardware and I have set up many more over the years than you and your friends have combined. I also don't care how many people you proclaim to have helped while in the process of "making trouble". I would hardly call that an accomplishment worth mentioning. Maybe you can go "help" CH users for a while and leave the Cougar help to those that know a lot more about them then you do. Yes yes. I know Cali. You have only the best of intentions. :megalol: If you want to continue this discussion you will be doing it alone or with someone else. This is the place for people to post what they have for sale. I think it has gone far enough off topic so I will leave it there. Have a nice day. Out

Yes so just trash the Cougar and the people who like them as you always seem to do. That is your point right? Listen man, anyone can grab a CH and claim all the same BS you are just to make it look bad. You are a CH user right? So is your reviewer friend, who also shares your low opinion of the Cougar right? I am sure he would know how to work with a Cougar and give it an honest effort before trashing it as well right? Food for thought. And I say again the people you had helping you didn't know what they were doing and that is obvious or you would have had a working HOTAS Cougar like just about everyone else that owns and uses them. I only post to make sure no one else is misinformed by your always having and making trouble where no one else is and does. I know I know, you are just trying to help. You obviously dislike the Cougar so much that I should think you would have recused yourself from rendering opinion after opinon about it (all bad) as often as you possibly can always under the guise of helping. Particularly since you must know by now that you are the exception and not the rule. It is just too obvious to any one that has read your posts on the Cougar. Maybe you just have too much time on your hands. Out

I don't think so and even if you were to link to the threads it doesn't change the fact that the Cougar is perfectly compatible with Windows 7. Your inability to get it working is pretty much your own. In fact I would bet dollars to donuts it was not the Cougar or the TM software that was the problem at all. More likely you either had a system level problem you were not aware of or you and your friends were not installing correctly. Because plain and simple....it works just fine.:joystick: Out

Having previously set up, installed and used three separate Cougars on three separate Win7 boxes multiple times I think I can safely say Cali is the exception to the rule on this. He obviously just couldn't get it to work even though so many others including myself have done dozens of installs on multiple machines and never had a problem. I am quite sure I could have helped him get it installed with out too much trouble. I would not hesitate on the basis of some nonexistent incompatibility between the Cougar and Windows 7. It works fine. Out

Windows 7 x64 is your OS of choice. Windows XP is end of life for mainstream support since 4/14/2009. Although extended support for XP does not officially end until 4/8/2014 Windows XP was released on 12/31/2001. I think you can seriously consider it dead. Embrace the the future purchase and Install Windows 7 x64 ;). You will not regret it IMHO. :joystick: Out

I think the GTX-570 is a really nice sweet spot for the current crop of Nvidia cards and seems a good fit for your system. ATI also has some nice offerings in the same price range. The world is your oyster my friend. All the best. Out -
Sure thing. Thanks Tyger. Out
