  1. Good point USSR Rik. Now there are two good reasons to keep a clean install copy, integrity checks and no hassle patching/activation. After install I simply copy the unmodded unpatched folder like shamandgg. Makes it all a very easy process. Out
  2. Thanks!:) Out
  3. Kon is giving excellent advice and is one of the many very helpful people that make up the LockOn/DCS community. I also suggest that you get Flaming Cliffs from the website asap and jump in with both feet. The price is very reasonable. If you would like some help please feel free to join our Teamspeak server and the 104th will be glad to lend you a hand getting started. You can find more info about us at www.104thphoenix.com. On the main page right is a display of our TS server you can just join it directly from there by clicking on the words "104th phoenix VFBS" at the top of the TS module. You will need to simply have Teamspeak installed and working on your system to join. Welcome to the community! Out
  4. Not to take anything away from FSX as it is a great commercial AC simulator and world. As far as combat AC are concerned although the models added to FSX for them look nice it is a case of being "All dressed up with no place to go" where combat is concerned. I had no problem leaving it behind in favor of Combat Sims like Black Shark. Also the AFM of the 25/25T in LockOn and the AFM of the KA-50 in DCS absolutely blows away ANY flight model I have formerly tried in FSX. Not even close IMHO. For civillian aviation sims FSX is the obvious winner but that is all it has ever been or will ever be to me. Out
  5. Thanks for checking it out Panzer. I will run the older version on our server for now as well. Out
  6. Excellent work Stephan. Servman has been absolutely essential to me for running a DCS server. I can't tell you how much this utility means to the DCS online community. Almost all of the good 1.0 Squadron servers I have seen are using this most excellent admin tool. It makes running your DCS server simple and automated in ways I never thought possible. I look forward to testing and using your 1.01 compatible version as soon as it is available. Thanks again for all of your hard work on this mate, it is most appreciated. Out
  7. Nothing wrong with the 190.38s that a little tweaking for AA/AF does not fix. These drivers are actually pretty good for me under XP. Installer is fine as well. Tested on several systems/OS's (Vista/Win7/XP). Just because some one has some issue causing then to "restore" does not make it a certainty that it is these drivers that caused it. In fact I would tend to doubt it based on my experience with the installs I have done. I have seen many people have strange issues with very stable builds of the Nvidia drivers simply because they do not install/uninstall them properly in the first place. That is not to say that you may not prefer an earlier driver for some reason or another but I think the likelyhood of having to restore anything as a direct result of them is unlikely IMHO. I say try them and see. You can always uninstall and revert if you do not like them....Don't forget to try the settings I posted earlier to get application specific AA/AF working. Out
  8. To fix this in the 190.38 WHQL drivers under XP open the Nvidia CP and select the first setting under "3D settings" called "adjust image settings with preview" and then tick the radio button before "Use the advanced 3D image settings" on the right and apply. For me after making this change and applying it application specific AA/AF is working again in DCS and LockOn. I hope this is helpful. Out
  9. IMHO you should go direct for simulation mode and be very patient. You will get there eventually. Take it a little at a time. Well worth the learning curve. Best of luck and dont give up! Out
  10. As stated in an ealier post if it is a graphical mod then there is usually no issue. Loading any weapons outside what is allowed with the stock 1.12 installation will usually result in a kick/ban. Simply stated, stock weapons only on public servers.:) Out
  11. I have also seen many a PC component die as a result of people using home vacuum cleaners to clean the inside of thier PC's. This also creates a huge static wind storm in your PC. If you are going to use a vacumn rather then a can of PC safe compressed air to clean your PC, make sure it is a static free service vac that is designed for blowing or vacuuming PC's and servers safely. They are also designed to both blow and vacuum at safe levels. Too strong a force can pull jumpers right off the board. Out
  12. Thanks to all who particiapted we feel this was a great success. We learned a lot from this first event and we think that the next will be much much better as a result of these lessons learned. The mission slightly tweaked is now running on our dedicated server in Hyperlobby. We think you should note a really good performance improvement due to some server settings being tweaked properly that were off during the event. Scenes were set low but some other graphics settings on the box were inadvertantly left on higher settings. All corrected now and up for testing. We would also like to thank all participants for their patience and good humor. It is at events like this that we note how "top notch" and really supportive our rather small LockOn community can be. Thanks again to all and we at the 104th look forward to participating in the next community event as well as the next OPFOR.
  13. ^^^^^ Use the trap setting as suggested above or set up a custom profile for TIR with Black Shark using maybe PAD + and PAD - as center and pause then program those keys to your HOTAS. I use those keystrokes programmed on the primary Hat 1 switch on Cougar. Up is center TIR, Down is Pause TIR, left and right on same hat is zoom in and zoom out. Very handy and intuitive. Out
  14. Man you are the gift that keeps on giving to this community mate. Excellent!

  18. ^^^ Well said and a trap I have fallen into many times myself.^^^ I would take this time to agree with Viper and apologize directly to any one I may have offended in the past with posts on any opinions I held that were delivered in an inconsiderate or impolite way. It is hard not to take things personal but it is important that we always try to be considerate, fair and open minded with people who have dissenting views. Out
  19. Happy Birthday! Many more! Out
  20. Is all this discussion over one of the "experimental features" of LRM? What about all the wonderful things this MOD does for the sim? I don't understand why there would be a debate over features that are not officially part of LRM. Leave them off. They are off by default. We were warned not to use them. Since you can turn off any feature you do not want to run in LRM you have lots of choices. I find that just about all of the features in LRM improve the game experience, minimize the use of exploits, and make the the sim feel more realistic. If you enable F-15 IFF , add target step, ECCM, reduced chaff, refuel parking area only, take off runway only, airfield ownership. All are more realistic IMHO. Well worth the time it takes to get used to flying with LRM features enabled. Experimental features be damned, this is a great MOD and a great gift to the LockOn community in so many ways. I think most people love this MOD, at least those that I have spoken to about it do. Sure there are some who would rather not enable all of the features but that is the beauty of LRM, you don't have to. Out
  21. Damn straight! And I still want it! Out
