  1. I really like your videos, especially the Mig-21 videos. Thanks for making the videos, Hadwell! MJ
  2. I hope the answer to your question is the Mig-15bis will be on our computers, tonight. :prop: I have no idea, though. Your guess is as good as mine. Sometime in February 2015 is my best guess. MJ P.S. I am really looking forward to this release. :cheer3nc:The Belsimtek MIG-15bis () should be a whole lot of fun.
  3. Yeah, I don't think the team was thinking of a good ride for a simulated NVAF. I think that Korea was a factor. I also think that the Belsimtek F86F and and Mig-15bis are much more than just Korean War counterparts and that the team wanted to bring high quality, unique, and fun products to the DCS table, since this is the tradition for DCS and what customers now appreciate and expect. There is a reason why DCS has a reputation for being a unique, premium, and hardcore flight simulator. The F86F is a transonic air superiority fighter and the Mig-15bis is a transonic bomber interceptor. The two machines are both optimized for very different roles and bring something unique to the table. I think that training on the Sabre and the Fagot will absolutely help persons learn to appreciate the capabilities and limitations of a potential future Vietnam era Mig-17, but the utility for having the Sabre and the Fagot go well and beyond a Korea scenario or anticipating a Vietnam scenario. I think both modules are worth having, without regard to such considerations as a particular theater or map. I highly recommend the Sabre, since I have it and adore the machine. I suspect that I will be equally enthusiastic about the Belsimtek Mig-15bis. MJ
  4. Making the Mig-15bis is a great good and I am definitely going to join you in enjoying the lovely Mig-15bis. Still, the Mig-15bis has nothing to do with the need for a Mig-17 on a Vietnam map. The Mig-17 is a much better performing transonic and the go to plane for the NVAF. The Mig-17 will eat the Mig-15 for breakfast, they are not interchangeable substitutes for one another. MJ
  5. The Mig-17 is an essential plane for any historical Vietnam scenario. It is the main plane type the NVAF used against US pilots. The Mig-17 has significantly improved performance characteristics and other capabilities over the Mig-15. The Mig-15 is a NVAF trainer, the Mig-17 is their go to combat aircraft. :thumbup:MJ
  6. I anticipate using the Nevada map as my map to learn new DCS modules and to joy ride with my favorite DCS rides. The first missions I am going to create for the Nevada map will help me systematically learn how to sim fly the F86F and the Mig-15bis, while also serving to let me take in some of the beautiful locations on the map. I want to really know the F86F and the Mig-15bis, inside and out. I also want to enjoy the pretty scenic view outside the cockpit. On weekends, I suspect that I will get a lot use out of the Nevada map, for years to come. MJ
  7. After the Mig-15bis, I am going to purchase the Leatherneck Simulations Mig-21bis. I don't know when I will purchase it. I am intend on making this one my next add-on, though. I am very impressed by what I have read and seen of the Leatherneck Mig-21bis. She seems very challenging, rewarding, and like a whole lot of fun. Unlike some players, I am not concerned that the Mig-21bis isn't a Vietnam era model. I figure that the Mig-21 was a very rare plane to encounter over the skies of Vietnam. For a Vietnam map, I think that the biggest threats to US warplanes would be bird strikes and surface to air weapons. While the NVAF could be very dangerous and GCI could help it coordinate highly effective hit and run attacks, the NVAF was pretty small. Most of the time, American pilots probably didn't encounter the NVAF. If Americans encountered the NVAF, US pilots probably encountered far more Mig-17s than they ever encountered Mig-21s. I think that the NVAF had no more than tens of Mig-21's. I think that the most important NVAF plane is probably the Mig-17. Don't get me wrong, a US Vietnam War era Mig-21 would be great to have, too. In the meantime, the Mig-21bis looks like a whole lot of fun. MJ
  8. Yes, that would be fantastic. For instance, today would be a great day to release the Mig-15. Mig Monday has a lovely ring to it. :pirate: MJ
  9. Well, the Belsimtek Mig-15bis should prove to be a very good trainer for a simulated NVAF or VPAF sim pilot. I don't think that the Mig-15bis was used in combat against the F105 and the F4 phantom II over Vietnam, but I am pretty sure that the Mig-15UTI and maybe even some Mig15bis machines were used to train NVAF and VPAF Mig-17 pilots. I am pretty sure that the Mig-15bis will be more challenging to sim fly than the Mig-17, so if we get good with the Mig-15bis, we should be able to transition to the better performing and handling Mig-17, without too much pain. MJ
  10. A few days ago, I would have hoped that you were wrong. :prop: Now, I hope you are right!  MJ
  11. I suspect that the speculation comes from reading into this post: I have not heard any word that the Mig-15bis will not be ready for February 2015. It is still February 2015 till next Saturday. Even with a delay, the Mig-15bis may yet be delivered within the desired timeframe for the Mig- 15bis Beta release, February 2015. MJ
  12. Thank you for putting the guides together. Both guides look fantastic and are full of useful information. I understand that the guides are a work in progress, but I really appreciate what has been delivered so far and I look forward to your finished guides. MJ
  13. Matt Wagner's training videos, the quickstart manual and the operating limitations manual, are all going to come in handy and are very much appreciated. I am going to read through everything, tonight. When I am learning how to sim fly the Mig-15bis, the two manuals will be right in front of me. I can''t wait to start practicing dealing with uncommanded rolls and trying to get the most out of the Mig-15, within the now known limits of this iconic bomber interceptor. :book: MJ
  14. Neat-o! I can't wait for the Mig-15 release!:cheer3nc::cheer3nc::cheer3nc:
  15. I accept that the Mig-15bis will be ready when the Mig-15bis is ready. Still, I can't help but hope that she is ready by 7 pm EST, today. :hehe:  MJ
  16. I really appreciate the extremely helpful video tutorials from Wags. Thanks to Wags, I already know a lot about how to start up, taxi, take off, land and activate the weapons systems, on the Mig-15bis, and I don't even have access to the Mig-15bis, yet! I wait to start sim flying the Mig-15bis. The Mig-15bis will be so much fun. I suspect that the Mig-15bis will be one of my favorite rides, not to mention my trainer for a hoped for future Belsimtek DCS Mig-17 Fresco. MJ
  17. Frankly, I would rather a Su-35S. If the team could not make a Su-35S, I would pay for a Su-27SM. I would not want the current version of the Su-27, that we already have in game.
  18. My guess: They climb out to a really scary high altitude, giving the AIM-120 the greatest store of potential energy possible, and whilst outside the effective range of the enemy weapon systems, they then Spamraam the enemy. If they get into a dogfight, I am willing to bet that it happens below 30, 000 feet and it is an unplanned accident, because there is no good reason to get anchored in a fight, when you have one wave after another wave of Allied planes performing Sweeps and SEAD, and what not. If you pass a slow turning fighter, you can blow right through and forward that info to a sweep flight, behind you, so they can take that slow turning plane out in their sweep. MJ
  19. I can't wait for Nevada. I am getting so excited! I wish I knew what the specs are going to be for EDGE, though. I need to know the specs so i can plan to ge tthe cheapest computer that will meet my needs, for the years to come. I can't wait to joyride with my shiny F-86F over a breathtaking simulation of the very beautiful State of Nevada. With all the lovely sunsets, the fluffy clouds, the car traffic at night, the lights of Vegas, and so many, many, many, lovely details, the map will be so pretty.

  21. Well, for me, my favorite WW2 plane out of the list is Alexander Kartveli's baby, the P-47D.
  22. Yeah! I hope that a Mig-29k will get into DCS, at some point. It will be nice to have a machine that can be used for both Indian and Russian carrier ops.
  23. I am so looking forward to my copy of Nevada. Funny enough, I was about to post a question on the forum asking if anyone still had a copy of the original Nevada map that came with my copy of the A-10 Beta. I will gladly take the new and improved Nevada instead!
  24. Thanks for the neat video!
  25. How about the Visitor Skyfighter, from the TV Series V? What is neat about the Skyfighter is that it has a modular design. The nose section and tail section can be separated and new modules can be added to fit different mission needs. Here is the tanker version: Here is a transport version:
