1. The M90 camo from the AJS37 Viggen obviously. :pilotfly: Edit: And before anyone mentions it, the AJS37 was actually just plain grey on the underside. http://www.fht.nu/bilder/Flygvapnet/Flygvapennytt/fv_nytt_2_91_ajs_37_viggen.pdf
2. As long as the structure of the aircraft is not blocking the line of sight between target and seeker, they can launch at extreme angles, probably around 90 degrees max. The missile will however lose a lot of energy if forced to manouver like that.
3. You meant to write Swiss people, right? :)
4. Agree. T/W is one of the weak points on the current Gripen, at least when you start putting stuff on it's pylons. Prototypes for the E/F has improved T/W a lot though, probably on par with the Eurofighter Typhoon. Don't remember the exact number :D
5. Swedish pilot tells us his story from training exercise against two Typhoons. In Swedish: http://blogg.forsvarsmakten.se/flygvapenbloggen/2014/06/06/verklighetsnara-taktikutveckling-av-jas-39-i-england-meatball-ur-en-pilots-perspektiv/ For translation I suggest https://translate.google.com/
6. Happy birthday.
7. I'm sorry? Did someone say "catch fire"? High EGT does not lead to anything catching fire. It does however accelerate wear and risk of malfunction of the turbine.
8. I was honestly expecting it to be worse than 14.4 but since people are saying theres no decline, I might jump on the train and download it myself.
9. So nice to see those aircrafts togheter. Epic screenshots, and a big moment in DCS history.
10. Gripen FCS-software is programmed using ADA. Not sure if that could be a reason for embargoing, but i'd say it's unlikely. Pretty sure there are some american hardware electronics in the FCS-computer. CPU is probably TI or Motorola. I think that's as close you get when trying to call it an american system.
11. I thought so, thats why I posted this. I had that thesis as a bookmark for a long time just in case I stumbled on an argument just like this! :D Seems you confused the F-16 with the YF-22 though. Scrim? Does this not prove that the solution to the FCS-problem is of swedish origin?
12. The Gripen accidents were caused by Pilot-Induced Oscillations (PIO). It's a problem that were affecting both the Swedes and Americans with their YF-22. A SAAB researcher, Dr. Lars Rundqvist came up with one solution called feedback-with-bypass Two Americans came up with another solution called derivative switching. The Swedish solution proved to be better. http://www.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a413992.pdf
13. I'm not so sure that is true. Explain to us then why Patria won the contract instead of Hägglunds with their XA-203 built in Finland? Then try to explain why the most expensive military units in the country, the submarines and warships of the Swedish Navy is still built and developed within our border? Sorry for going off-topic.
14. The Gripen were intended to replace their aging fleet of F-5's, not the F/A-18.
15. Looks like they have voted NO for the Gripen today.
16. Indeed. It's all over the news here in Sweden right now.
17. And here I thought I knew everything about Star Wars universe :D
18. Could not agree more with the first part there. Ambisonics seem interestning. It's the first time I've heard about it. Thx for sharing that.
19. Was that a friggin Tie fighter i saw !? Edit: The description is hilarious :D
20. I'm not saying every DCS user should go out and buy dedicated soundcards :D With average headphones, that's just a waste of money anyway, and DCS don't need that kind of sound perfection. It does not even need surround sound in my opinion to be enjoyed. It's just a bonus you get if you already have some kind of surround setup for other reasons. I certainly did not have DCS in mind when getting an 700$ headphone setup for my PC. That's because I'm a hobby musician and audiophile.
21. Vague hint? You clearly have not heard good simulation through a good pair of headphones with proper amplification and DAC. I never use my Z5500 5.1 speaker setup anymore. Sure it is way better than the average headphones but my headphone setup beats the crap out of it even when it comes to positional audio. Why? Becouse the simulated surround i get in the headphones is in a perfectly inert enviroment. The speakers have the downside of being affected by the room they are placed in.
22. I have glasses but they don't pose a problem. Your's must be really shiny :D I do get some noise in the background if the sun is in a certain spot during the afternoon so I have to darken the room.
23. Don't use the standalone DCS A10C. It's outdated. You need DCS: World. The icon is greyed out because you did not activate it. All you have to do is put in your serial number and it will go active!
24. It seems this was fixed in todays update.
